I just passed MEPS todays and have enlisted in the ARmy reserves i head to fort knox on d-day ((june 6 for the non history buffs)) for boot

good job hun, youre gonna like basic training it was a whole lot of fun! and at least youre going somewhere with some nice weather, when i went it was in jan at missouri... not fun, first time id ever seen snow and it didnt stop snowing until right before i graded then there was that tornado not fun, but knox is located in a great spot especially for that time of year. if you have any questions please feel free to ask, oh and out of curiosity whats your MOS?

unrtunatly teh army closed my original MOS the morning i went to MEPS ((31B AKA M.P.)) so i ended up as a cargo specialist 88H i'm hoping to get it switched before i go to boot tho

yeah i canunderstandthat theydocraplike that all the time, i was supposed tobea 31B but i ended up asa 98G (35P now that its been changed, which is a linguist) they tell you that its your decision and put you where eer the army has needs... but it shouldnt be that hard to get it changed, the only reason why i didt change mine was because i didnt care... in the long run i decided to get college credits over thejob i actually wanted.
good luck getting itchanged, just harrass your recruiter until they send you back to MEPS to change it.

Did you sign the contract yet? Because if you did, there's no chance in Hell you're getting your MOS changed.
And you think January in Missouri is bad? Try Georgia in July.

Try Georgia in July. im from georgia its not all that bad actually but im kinda usta it... and yeah i didnt think about the contract deal... that would prevent any MOS changes...

actually up until i hit boot i can change my MOS at any time and and i have 1 year between boot and AIT that i can also get my MOS changed ((hte new program goes like this: i'm 17 and a junior hte summer between junior and senior year i go to boot come back to school for senior year then spend that year serving in hte reserves the summer after that i go to AIT any time up until AIT i can change my MOS.))
and my boot got pushed back ot june 17

My Fiance' is at ft benning, GA. at the moment for BCT and AIT. he signed up 3 years active duty infantry. I believe he was 11x at first. before he left for BCT he had his unit changed. I don't really pay much attention I let him deal with all that. I just stand on the sidelines. But I have to say they pulled so many strings with him. His paperwork just floated around from recruiter to recruiter in the office. They deff. didn't have their s**t together there. But good luck to you! Reserves you say? I have another friend who signed up in the airforce 6 years reserve, he said he hated it. Im not sure why. It could be worse razz

Just wanted to put this out there for you kids..there are three things you must learn. These three things will keep you going strong. 1- the soldiers creed and the 7 Army values is not bullshit. 2-if you shoot marksman you will survive a firefight. 3-be confident not cocky...oh and here is something that my buddy told me and i find it to be very true. If your on time..your late, if your ten minutes prior your on time. Show up to where you need to be atleast ten minutes befor ethe appointed time, Good luck and have fun at Basic

I just passed MEPS too. Luckily my recruiter pulled my reservation a couple days earlier so I got 31B.

If i remember correctly one of the rules on here is NOT putting fellow soldiers down. Last I checked we ALL go through the same BCT, the same AIT and we are ALL soldiers. Wether we report five days a week, seven or just two a month we are soldiers the same. Congrats on passing meps and good luck in your career, I'm a reservist too. Oh and also, you want to diss the reserves? Why the hell did 6 reserve units just deploy if we arent soldiers? Two of those units my siblings are in, and both are 15 month, possibly 18. So shut it. and bring them safe to us in the end
