Personally germs don't bug me too much, mainly because I have a very high immune system. Would you call yourself a germaphobe?

Have you been to the Doctor about this? You could have a compulsive disorder??? Let the Dr put you straight about germs, some good explaining about them could help to put your mind at rest.

xXEnglishMummieXx Have you been to the Doctor about this? You could have a compulsive disorder??? Let the Dr put you straight about germs, some good explaining about them could help to put your mind at rest. no way, knowing more about them only creeps me out more. when i was in like...i think the 6th or 7th grade they told us about dust mites, and i was all freaked out for the longest time. besides, i dont like docs. i dont like telling ppl my true feelings. a doc is gonna' think im from the nuthouse. then i'll get this crappy hour long lecture on how germs r nothing to fear.

Think about the following question, hard: Can you honestly fathom there being any actions you could take that would eliminate this problem for you?
If the answer's "yes", then many other people can give you much more tangible, simple, & -- of course -- action-based tips. If the answer's "no" ...
Have you ever heard of "OCD", or "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder"?
Here's a little blurb I pulled from google.
"People with OCD may be plagued by persistent, unwelcome thoughts or images, or by the urgent need to engage in certain rituals. They may be obsessed with germs or dirt, and wash their hands over and over. They may be filled with doubt and feel the need to check things repeatedly." (The website this is from: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-ocd/index.shtml)
If you feel like this describes you, I'd highly advice that you do a bit more research into OCD, & that you see a psychologist or psychiatrist about it.
**There is nothing wrong with having OCD. There is nothing wrong with seeing a mental health specialist about it; they just happen to be the people whom deal with this not uncommon disturbance. It doesn't mean you're crazy. Not at ALL... promise!**
I myself have OCD, & I take medication daily to help me manage it, & it really, really helps 3nodding

I think you if you can relate to the OCD description then it really is worth making a decision to do something about it. I think i'm right in thinking that OCD can start of with these trival "itching" rituals but can /could eventually develope into much more complex things that can really get in the way of your life. I know it's hard to tell someone about it, I think that is actually the hardest part but it's better to catch it and deal with it now before it gets too hard to sort out. By the way, it's not your fault you have this, there's no shame in having a problem: "to err is what makes us human" and I know there are very special and well-payed people out there that are only too willing to help, to them this kind of thing is common place. Goodluck.

Goodluck. i ment the "itching" is just some dumbo stupid small ex. every morning when i leave the house i have to make sure my closet doors r shut or im afraid that i might die that day or something stupid like that. and im too stubbern to give up my pride and ask for help but help!

so, ive got symptoms of OCD, but i dont have OCD. i talk to a psych, and she tells me somethhings are normal. i know what its like to be freaked abt the germs... i went crazy and dusted my entire house 3 times a day for almost two months when my teacher taught us abt dustmites... sweatdrop . the best thing i kno of, is to think of something else. try to make sure u dont follow those little "stupid" rituals. washing ur hands a lot is pretty normal, but i'd stay off the purrell. then again... thats just me sweatdrop . is u cant go to a professional, then try asking ur friends to help u. if u start thinkin abt germs, just start thinkin abt somethin else. eventually, u'll either be not so paranoid, or u'll need to go to a professional. i know i wouldnt go to a psych, but i knew i needed to go, so i bugged out abt it until my mom sent me just to get me to stop freakin out. my psych told me that, for me, its not OCD, but a paranoia disorder. im very paranoid abt a lot of things... sweatdrop . but its ok. pride is easily damages, but its way easier to restore pride. -x-
