Jampo had set out from his pride lands to go hunting two days ago. He had been able to attack and injure a healthy adult zebra, and he had been quite proud of that - but the zebra had gotten away from him and gone back to its herd. Jampo, wanting very much to be able to take this zebra back to his pride, had stalked the herd ever since as it moved further and further away. They covered a lot of ground, zebras did; Jampo had barely noticed how far away they were now.
He knew his zebra was in there somewhere - every now and again he would spot the creature with the bloody hind leg, but it would always disappear again. Sometimes he thought he should give up, but every time he saw that zebra he knew he couldn't.
After all, if he was able to bring such a prize home, maybe the females would be so impressed that one them might take a liking to him....but Jampo couldn't think about that too long. The zebra were on the move again; he followed, not even bothering to hide in the grass - the herd knew he was there. He just needed the perfect opening...

Eztil had been lazing about in a tree, awaiting Tia. Thus far, their spoils of war had been quite impressive. The girl no dobt caught on fast... and strangely enough, Eztil had half-convinced that she might well make a good replacement for Coaxoch... though he quickly knocked that idea from his mind. He liked Tia well enough, but he was still a conman. He didn't really trust anybody, and besides that, he nad Tia hadn't been working together for nearly long enough for a serious trust to be established.
He seriously doubted that he ever could. Tia wasn't family. She was an outsider brought in... and clearly they were both benifiting from the arrangement, and that suited him just fine. As long as the benifits continued, he saw no reason to terminate their partnership.
Then he heard someone else wandering around the tree, one of the few on the otherwise grassy plain... and certainly the only one that could support an adult lion. He wondered if Tia was back... or if someone else had come close to his current location.
