She had come here because it was the only place she could think of. The only place that Nyoka and Janja couldn't find her. She hadn't meant to upset them. She'd wanted to help, wanted to show them how good she could be at raising their children. But she'd messed it up and now she'd made Nyoka angry. What was she supposed to do if he didn't want to talk to her again? Nyoka was all she had and she loved him dearly. He had rescued her from her prison - though she had all but forced him with her telepathy.

However, she had never realised that Nyoka kept her around for convenience, the fact that she could help him move from one place to the other. That she could help guard their children.

It had been Nyoka alone that she had shared her telepathic link with, but now she had severed that link. She didn't want him to reach her thoughts, though that was probably impossible now that she was way up here in the Mountain the housed the Gods.

Could it be true? Could he never have loved her as a best friend?

She snivelled, huddled up against a cold, rocky outcrop and tucked her wings across her back like a blanket.

~He never liked us, fool~

She knew the voice, she knew it well. It was her voice, though at the same time not. It was the voice that held a part of her she did not like. A part of her that remained deep inside her heart, hidden away. She had thought it gone, but it was there and would be forever, so long as she knew fear.

She was afraid. She was afraid that Nyoka would never love her.

~So what if he doesn't love us? He's a snake, we are a Goddess.~

Roko shivered.

~We could kill him if we wished.~

"NO!" The Goddess sprang to her paws, scared, terrified in fact. This only encouraged the dark side to grow. "He's our friend."

~A useful friend, yes. He protects our back with his fangs.~ The voice was matter-of-fact. ~Yes, we shouldn't waste his life. He will make a good follower~

Sniffing back tears. Rokopelli decided she would try her best to ignore the voice. Pretend it wasn't there and it would go away. So, forcing back the fear and plastering a smile on her face, she hopped up on the rocks and fanned her wings against the chill air.

"Oh, it's so pretty up here!" And when she spoke her voice was different. It was not a voice in unison. It was her cheerful voice, half a voice. Something was wrong.

He had made a mistake, a huge mistake thus why his tattered black wings had carried him here. He let things get in the way, control him, manipulate his mind and emotions. He made a huge mistake. He could never go back to the Pridelands now, ever, even if by a slight chance his brother might be there, he could not go back, not after what he had done.

Flicking his tail as he wandered around somewhat aimlessly, his mind was catching up with him, what if something came about from what he'd done? He'd be hunted for sure, just like how he hunted his brother.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

He snarled, white glowing eyes peering around, claws digging into the soil beneath his massive paws, wings falling down slightly.

What he had done...

And as the little Goddess looked up she saw him. A great God, powerful and black as the night sky. He was so big that he seemed to fill the sky. Yet he had an aura that burned and bubbled and scared Roko slightly.

Again the fear infected her counterpart personality and she felt Pelli flare up inside of her, greedy fingers skulking over her body. She shuddered, bristled and again pushed back the cold, creeping feeling that threatened to suffocate her.

"Go away Pelli!" She screeched, digging her little claws into the rocky ledge that held her up.

And as scared as she was of this stranger she decided to go and find him. Firstly because he was a God and she'd not seen a fully grown male God before and secondly, she hoped the distraction would keep her bad half away.

So, spreading her rainbow wings the young Goddess launched upwards from her ledge and went in pursuit of the dark male, finding him relatively easily.

And, without thinking, she extended her powers of telepathy and hooked up to his mind. It was odd, doing this with someone other than Nyoka. Besides that, the lion's mind was strong, so strong she wasn't sure whether he would hear her call.

~Hello Mister~

She began to lower herself, feeling the great buffets of the wind knocking her roughly from side to side.

A voice and Katana'k snarled and whirled his head around, but saw no figure, as of yet. A voice in his mind? Strange, female too, he shuddered on the inside, for a moment he thought it was the goddess he'd surely be on the doom list for, and he gave a frown.

"Hello?

He turned his head and arched a brow at the approaching figure, a female, yes, but younger, perhaps more naive? He gave a smirk, why would she be alone? Seek him out? Strange young ones.

"What makes one such as yourself be alone I wonder? Hmm?"

She landed on the ledge, or more, tumbled onto the ledge in the most ungraceful fashion possible. Her ungainly momentum had her bowling forwards, snubbing her nose sharply against the ground. Her wings twisted and flapped, aiding in righting her and then she stood, grinning sheepishly.

"Hello Mister." She chirped again. "Alone?" She glanced over her shoulder and her ears drooped as she realised again that she was alone. She didn't like being by herself, but that wasn't true anymore, was it?

"We aren't alone no mores, Mister, yous are here, silly!" She stepped towards him, a paw hovering mid-air.

"You sure are big!" She giggled admiringly and bounced forwards again, reaching out a forepaw as if she intended to poke him with it.

Big? We? What the hell was going on? Though he knew that children had overactive imaginations, though this was a goddess before his eyes, so now he should, he realized he should be wary, and watch her actions closely. Flicking his tail he watched her reach out, and he held up a win in front of himself, shielding himself from her touch

He wasn't sure what a touch from her might make him fall into.

"Yea, big but....don't touch, alright Miss..." what was her name anyway?

She never said.

"whats your name hmm?"

She laughed, a gingling harmless sound that portrayed her soul, her innocence. Yes she had power butit was mostly unpractised and she was mostly afraid of it. She preferred to slink about as a mortal most of the time, though sometimes it was good not to have to hide your true self.

"Okie..." She trailed off and withdrew a paw, sitting down and curling her tail around her. "No touchy."

Then she gave her name, or half of it in any case. "Our name...we mean...my name is Rokope---" She cleared her throat. "Roko." She couldn't face introducing her other hald today.

"What's your name Mister? Or shall we just call you Mister?" She smiled.

We? Katana'k arched a brow at her, swished her tail once while looking her over. Did she have control issues? Just like that of the goddess he met not too long ago, what was her name? Oh well, the name slipped from him, though something about a sister with lack of control, internal battles and struggles, did Roko suffer from the same?

"Names Katana'k," he said with a nod and a slight bow of his head, curling his wings, pulling them to hold against his back tightly but in a comfortable manner.

"Are you alright Roko?" it was a sincere question, not one to be taken the wrong way of course, but something about this instance bothered him, and for a reason unknown to himself, he wished to lash out at something...

Roko, the innocent part of the Goddess, sensed no danger in being close to this large God, but her smarter, wiser side did.

Again, the difference between the two personalities clashed, had her eyes glowing unnaturally. There was an inner fight going on in this godling, a fight that seemed to be tearing her in half.

She giggled, but the giggle started innocent and ended with a twisted edge.

Pelli was gaining control, slowly but surely, one step at a time.

~Do you see the way he is looking at us, dearest?~

Roko tried to force the voice away without success.

~He's not a nice lion. If you don't do something he'll attack us. Kill us! Do you want to die Roko?~

"Shut up! Shut up!" Roko screeched, closing her eyes tightly, shaking her head viciously from side to side.

But Pelli knew she was winning. The tear in her other personality had been brought into being by the sharpness of Janja's words. And now, putting these fearful thoughts into her mind was making that tear wider, bigger. All she had to do was poke at the right place and it'd open wide enough for her to take flight.

Take control.

~If you don't strike now he'll get us. You know what adults are like. Adults are evil. They trap us. Remember mother?~

"Mummy Koya?"

~Not her, she's not our mother!! The other mother, our evil mother.~

"No..." But she was breaking. "If we kill again then she'll come back. She'll trap us forever. We can't use our power..."

~We have great power. What is the point of being a Goddess if we do not use what abilities we have?~

Roko's eyes flared open, she hissed, perhaps madly, realising for the first time that Katana'k had overheard her part of the conversation and probably thought her quite insane. She cowered, folding her ears against her head. She hadn't heard his question, or even his name. But when she spoke her voice sounded off again, echoed and distant.

"Are you...evil?"
PostPosted: Sat May 10, 2008 12:40 pm

"Evil..." he drew the word out, the word could mean so many different things, it could have various intensities, but no, he did not think he was evil. No. "No, I am not, everyone has something with themselves they may not be fond of, but evil, being evil is not something I am," no, he was not evil, though truth be told, sometimes...he could be brutal. Such a brutal side in him came from his blood, his ancestry. He let his claws slip out, and he grit his fangs together, even this goddess questioning him...it angered him.

Not evil, just..unstable at times.

"Unstability, it plagues you, watch you're tongue young one..." his tone deepened, changed.

He was nothing like his brother, not alike at all.

As he thought about his reply Rokopelli cowered slightly; back arched, head down, fur bristling. She looked caught between fear and anger, undecided about what emotion would be the best one to take. And then she whimpered, wriggling under the God's gaze. Had her question upset him? Angered him? Wasn't it a reasonably decent sort of question? Well...maybe not. She might be upset if someone asked her whether she was evil.

And evil was such a strong word.

She clapped a paw over her mouth, suddenly ashamed of what she had asked. And then she saw his claws and heard the sound of his teeth grinding against one another.

Oh no!

~Don't run away!~ Pelli screeched in her mind. ~Run away and it's over. Face him, face him as we should have faced mother!~

Roko ignored her other half. "Unn-staa-bee-la-tee?" She didn't know the word but the way he said it made her feel like it was something bad. She dug her own little claws into the rock beneath her and shook herself all over.

~Cower now and we'll die, precious. Is that what you want?~

"No..." She whimpered, closing her eyes, trying to visibly block out the fear.

~Think of the pain, Roko, think of our prison. Do you want us to return to that life? Eternal darkness. Nothing. Fate worse than death.~ And when Rokopelli opened her eyes they were glowing feverishly.

She looked up, but she did not see Katana'k. She saw her mother, leering over her, forepaws outstretched, toes curled, claws unsheathed. Fear gripped her and in that moment of pure terror, Pelli took over.

"You won't trap us again!" She screeched, launching herself at the God with all the force she could muster.

Katana'k was about to ask what was going on in her head, what she was hearing, seeing, whatever it was that was bothering her in an attempt to calm down, both of them, to calm down. But when she spoke that sentence, when she thrust herself towards him, something broke loose in his mind, and he snarled, fangs bared, wings outstretched, "I warned you!" he growled at her, waited for her to get close.

When she was close enough, he thrust himself forward at her as well, claws outstretched, he felt a sting when her claws buried themselves into his pelt, and his own claws gripped at one of her legs, and swept at her neck, claws piercing her neck, he smelt the blood, felt the blood boil in his veins.

He pulled at her, adn swung her small (in comparison to him) body around to throw her, have her body land with a thud. he roared at her then, when he let go of her body, felt his anger in his veins, he should get away, he should run, leave here, leave her.

It all happened so fast.

She heard him yell, but even if she had wanted to she couldn't have stopped herself. Her momentum had herself aiming straight for him and a second later she felt her claws find fur.

But she was far smaller than him and it was sheer madness that had her instigating an attack. He was so fast to the offence that her brain hardly registered what was happening. At first it seemed she was doing well and then there was pressure on one of her legs.

A second later and pain exploded somewhere just behind her ear. Her neck? She cried out, the heat of the pain searing feverishly into her mind. Half-mad with rage and confusion she swung again, but her claws met only air as she felt herself being thrown roughly aside.

The ground hit her, and the rage left her in one swift wave.

"M-mother?"

His thunderous roar added to her pain and as she blinked up at him from where she lay on the ground, winded and in desperate agony, she saw the image of her mother fade.

"Mother! Where are you going?" She screamed at the top of her lungs. Frightened, angry and terribly confused, the juvenile pulled herself to her feet, staggered and to her dismay - felt the ledge slip away from under her paws.

And in the next second she was tumbling downwards, spiralling through the air, completely out of control.

But, if Katana'k had stayed to look, he would have seen her gain control of her wings at the last moment and glide to an ungraceful thud on a ledge maybe thirty metres down the mountain side.

There, she passed into unconsciousness.

Its not over "yes it is," He said to himself, assuring that this was over, had to be over. he peered over the ledge and saw that she had seemed to catch herself on a ledge, he sighed. What had come over him? her mother, perhaps that was it, he growled to himself, his own mother she...she-

NO.

He wouldn't think of it, and he felt his hatred for his brother grow again.

Tring away from her, he outretched his wings and took to the sky, leaving this palce, this girl, no, its over.
