Heat made Kweupe laaaaazy. It was a more than usually warm day and the normally bouncy cheetah was more than content to just lie beneath a lovely tree she had found, a shady patch in the middle of the bright grasslands. Her brother was off hunting again, but she was happy to just lie there and watch the clouds- "This is so boring!" she moaned and rolled over onto her back, staring at her banded paws. Okay, so she wasn't content to laze the day away. She wanted to move, to meet new faces, to have some excitement, but it was just too hot! She rolled again and lay with her head on her paws, watching the world outside of her shade and hoping, even trying to will another creature to cross her path, just so that she at the least had someone to talk to.

( big pic of awesome >_>; *too lazy to resize* ) And her wish was his command.
Albeit unintentionally! Unlike Kweupe, Makani was up and at-it, despite the heat. Why? Simple; he liked to run. Actually, there were quite a few things Makani liked to do. But when there was nothing out there but open savannah, heat or no heat, to him it was kind-of hard to resist the temptation to just run as fast as possible, just to see how far you can go before you're forced to stop-- he was a cheetah, after all, and a full-speed dash couldn't last long; especially not in this heat! Their largest issue besides breath and exhaustion was overheating, because of the enormous stress on their body that it took to run full speed.
So his little fun-run didn't last long, only perhaps 20 or 30 seconds(not that he had counted). He did, however, pass in front of Kweupe, perhaps a whiles away, but still pretty visible, hard to miss. And soon enough, he slowed to a trot, mouth gaping open as he managed to pull a complete stop soon enough, ears lolling backwards slightly. Good run, good run.
Now to rest, hm. He might need to go find Loki or Xippi soon; Xippi was hyperactive and could get into a pretty amount of trouble, and Loki was just.. downright slow. At least for now. He was the oldest in the litter yes. But he could be a bit too friendly.. Not that Makani hadn't checked the are he'd left them first, of course!
Flicking his ears, he managed to spot the tree Kweupe was beneath, and panting slightly, began to trot towards it. Some shade would do him good in a day like this. And at first, he didn't even notice the female.

Almost as if she had conjured another creature into being, Kweupe watched as a lanky brown male streaked by, knowing very well that he could only be a cheetah like herself. She couldn't imagine how he could run in this weather, but she didn't really dwell on it. She watched him slow down and start heading her way, not sure if he had seen her or if he was just walking over for the shade. So she had two choices. Either not move and wait for him to notice her, or sit up and make her presence known...
She sat up and tilted her head a bit to one side, watching him with a small smile on her face. She was a very trusting female, which wasn't always a good thing, but it was her way. Her ears pointed towards him in greeting and her tail-tip flicked back and forth behind her.

The cheetah blinked, his green eyes looking up at a sign of movement, his ears perking up. Oooh, now what was this.. a female! Lovely~ Seriously, though. She was rather pretty. "Oh, hello, " He said, though he didn't pull any of his charm yet, if only for the lack of energy.
"Is this your shade? I can find another if you want, " He smiled, swishing his tail calmly behind him.

Kweupe smiled back at him and shook her head. "Shade doesn't belong to anyone, I would think," she replied cheerfully and gestured to the darkened area around her. "But if you really want permission, I'm willing to share with someone willing to go for such a run on a day like this," she added, tail curling around her side so that the tip could beckon him over.

Aah, nice. This could be fun.
"Alright, " Makani said with a smile, without hesitating before plopping down next to the tree, glad to stretch out his paws. "So, to whom do I own the pleasure, miss? " He grinned, though his breathing was still fairly heavy and rapit.

Kweupe stood and stretched before sitting back down and turning to face her current companion. "Kweupe, but the pleasure's all mine..." she hung off, tilting her head a bit in questioning, prompting a name from him as well. He was polite, that was a good sign. She liked polite. And energetic, too. A trait she also liked in her friends.

"Kweupe! Nice name. I am Makani, " He nodded, bowing his head politely. "Like the wind, " Perhaps that name had an affect on him; he remembered being thrilled when his father told him its meaning, and since then had always loved the wind, it was simply too good. Though, that might also be partially because of the fact he was a cheetah.
"Decided to just laze the day away, eh? Its far too hot, "

"Makani, it suits you. I would think only the wind itself would like to run on a day like this," Kweupe replied with a nod to her own statement as well as his question. She closed her bright eyes, for which she was named, and tilted her head upwards a bit.
"Mmmmm, I had planned to laze about. I prefer not-so-hot and -sunny weather to run about in," she explained and returned her gaze to her companion. "How about you? Just felt like a good run?"

"Glad to know I was named for a reason. " He winked playfully at her, though it was a little obvious no playing would be had in this heat. Too hot even for tag. or hide and seek. And yes, Makani was the type that'd play that, ahaha.
"Have to run, love. Its who I am. " What would be worse for makani would be to not run. He needed it, in a way. Tie him up in one place, he'll be sad, pathetic. Tie his paws together, dump him in a cage. He might aswell be well fed, groomed and cared for, but he wouldn't be happy.
"At least once, anyway. " He twitched his tailtip. "or.. swim. " Cheetah weren't as fond of swimming as leopards, they were more.. up there, along with lions, and most other cats. He was a land thing, but water wasn't so bad; especially for a creature that overheated constantly.

"Mmm, swimming is wonderful when the water's shallow," Kweupe sighed, wishing she could go swimming with Mafu watching for crocodiles. She flexed her paws a bit and her tail went back to flicking from side to side.
"True, can't help but run when it comes upon you," she added and stood, walking around him and looking him from head to paw, her tail sliding across his back.
"So, what are you doing running around all by yourself. I'd expect a handsome male like yourself to be crowded by a flock of females."
