User Image Yves yawned, maw opening quite wide. His tail wiggled slightly behind him, fluffing out a bit as he stretched. How bored he was- it had been a while since he had had a decent conversation with anyone at all. Ears flicking a bit, he flopped down in a tall patch of grass, the stalks curving upwards over his dark body.

That 'Valentine's day' was coming up soon, wasn't it? He sighed a bit, violet eyes closing slightly as the sun filtered through the grass onto his fur. It didn't matter to him anyways, he had no one to share this holiday with. Tail flicking a beetle off of his leg, he settled down for what would probably be an uneventful afternoon.

Ouch, ouch, ouch! Zaha whimpered lightly as she gave another tug, only to be given the same results. She couldn't even remember how she came across the thorn bush, only now that it was stuck to her. Or her to it. Not even her thick fur was doing enough to defend against the thorns. "I'm stuck..." She flinched as the collection of tangled vines and roots poked her some more, before finally flopping to the ground. Her two left limbs were trapped and immobile, and without fingers it was a sad attempt to escape the plant...

Just as he was about to drift into a comfortable sleep, Yves' eyes shot open. Had he heard something? He listened quietly for a moment, before he heard another rustling somewhere nearby. Lifting himself off the ground, he padded in that direction, eyes looking carefully to find the source of the noise.

"Zaha!" he barked, more out of suprise than anything else. He trotted quickly to her, sticking his nose down into the briars, a large paw holding down a thornless portion of the vines. "You need some help?"

A voice? Zaha perked her ears hopefully, her neck tilting to look around for any signs of help. And that's when she caught the hint of black and purple as it rounded the corner. "Yves!" She wriggled at the sudden appearance of the other, only to bite her lip as the thorns nipped her skin. She peeked down nervously to her little nature shackles, seeing how they scratched small pink cuts through her white fur. Her anxiety was higher now, the long time she spent sitting there not helping any.

"Yves, I'm stuck!" She tried to stand only to fall down on her side, the vines not giving an inch. The female Ulaya was near hysterics now, not really focusing. She had seen him today, and though she was safe inland, her fearful memories were still haunting her. The thorns reminded her of the teeth from long ago...

"Let me go!" The Ulaya kicked at her binds, ignoring the aches it was causing. She wanted to leave, and she wanted to leave now!

Yves could sense the nervousness in her voice now- it was obvious that she was scared, and he hated the thought of that. Ruffling his pelt to give himself a tad more protection, he forced his way through the thorns, Ear flattening to protect the thin skin from harm. A large paw came down upon the thinner vines, claws managing to slice through and break them up a bit. Teeth snapped and nipped at the thicker ones, some breaking and zinging back from him. His tail flicked irritably behind him- they were starting to scratch and cut through his pelt. It didn't necessarily hurt, but it was bothersome and distracting.

His nose finally reached through to touch her side, giving him a moment to catch his breath. He had moved relatively quickly, sensing an odd feeling of urgency. Pushing himself to the side, he clenched his jaw as the thorns cut into his shoulder. He pushed a few more times, muscles straining to make a small enough opening for Zaha to for her way through and get out.

"Go," he grunted, a particularly large vine weighing him down, "Hurry."

Her eyes were scrunched shut, but she could hear and feel movement nearby. She continued to wriggle slightly under the thorned ropes, sometimes slipping free of a few. But her legs were the main issue, and to claw them free she was near clawing her own skin in the process.

She finally peeked open, seeing black fur in the mess of plants and seeing him cut the vines with almost ease. Her back leg felt a tug and then dropped, loose from the trap at last! His poke to her side made her whimper like a nervous pup, hoping her friend didn't get stuck either. Without second urgings from Yves, Zaha had darted out from under the large plant. Some pins and thorned strings still hung from hre poofy fur, but she was out!

Immediately, she flopped and rolled on the ground. Dirt was kicked up as she rubbed across the ground, like a dog that had escaped a toturous bath. Oh how she hated that sharp feeling, still prickling her skin all over..

Yves flattened his ears again, roughly pulling himself out of the patch. He almost winced as the thorns pulled at his skin, some ripping and drawing small drops of blood. The scratches stung a bit, but nothing drastic. One managed to catch his ear, earning a yowl from the brute- it wasn't something he had been expecting. Escaping from the patch, he flopped down hard alongside the other ulaya, huffing a bit as he rolled once or twice.

"Are you... okay?" he puffed, violet eyes watching her carefully. He honestly didn't care how she had gotten in there, but about whether she was alright or not. Dust was beginning to settle onto his dark pelt, masking the tiny scratches on his skin. "Nothing hurt to badly?"

Zaha rested flat on her tummy with some pants, trying to get over the anxiety still. It felt like fear had turned to claustrophobia, then to adrenaline when Yves appeared. So in short, she was now worn out for a good few moments.

Ears slid up rapidly to a yowl, and Zaha gasped realizing it was Yves. He had hurt himself on the thorns! She watched, worried but muted, as the other Ulaya wriggled in the sand also. Eyes quivered when he asked her if she was alright, and she peeked around hesitantly. "Yes...I'm alright now." She was far enough from the water afterall, shouldn't that be enough? Blue eyes looked back to Yves, who now looked like an extremely ashy and browned Ulaya. "Are you okay? Sorry about you getting into that..."

Yves stretched, eyes moving up in attempt to look at his ear. A small split in the edge, that was all. His heart was still hammering in his chest from the whole thing- it had been a while since he had merely jumped into something full force. His eyes drifted from his ear back down to Zaha, watching her for a moment before she replied to him.

"Well, that's good then," he replied, not moving his position. He just needed a moment to rest, that was all, "I'm fine... a few cuts and scrapes never hurt anyone." He was relieved, at least, that she was mostly unharmed. If something happened, then... then he didn't know what'd he do.

"So..." he huffed for a minute, his pulse returning to normal relatively quickly, bringing his breathing back down, too. "What have you been up to, then?
PostPosted: Fri Feb 08, 2008 1:47 pm

Zaha stood and padded over to the other, peeking at his ear tip. Carefully and timidly, she groomed it clean, since it was the cut to actually bleed. No need for it to get infected. Her own fur had prevented any bleeding, but she was still delt with small scrapes here and there.

"I'm glad you're alright though. I mean.." Well, she would've done the same to help another out. But she was glad Yves had been there to help at all. The female blinked and tilted her head, waiting for what he had to say. What had she done lately? Zaha frowned and peeked over her shoulder from were she came from. "I was at the beach earlier today, and he was there."

Yves had been about to get up, but lay still to allow for Zaha to clean the small cut. He shook his head as she finished, ears flopping against the side of his skull. Pulling himself up, he pulled a small thorn that was attached to his fur away with his teeth, licking the spot for a moment to make sure that it was clean.

He smiled lightly, nodding to her. His tail wiggled slightly behind him, while he paused for a moment. Him? He was slightly puzzled. "Who?" he inquired, voice gentle and careful, "I'm not quite sure who you're talking about." He was slightly confused- he didn't quite remember her mentioning anyone to him, after all. Could they be the reason, perhaps, that she seemed startled before? Whoever it was, they were connected to the beach- this only puzzled him more. He didn't know anyone around the beach, after all.

The white, well...now tan Ulaya, walked in a small circle before sitting down in a jittery mood. Should she really tell? She hadn't before, but...

"I didn't think you would. I don't really like talking of it, and never thought I'd have to again." She pouted to herself, never imagining that this situation would occure. She lifted a paw to her lips, whispering nervously. "It was a sea Ulaya. One with a tail, and teeth like a shark. He...well, he's the reason why I talk like this." Till this day she had never swam again.

Yves watched her carefully for a moment. His brow furrowed- an ulaya of the sea...? His eyes widened slightly as it clicked in his head. So that was why... he could have shuddered at the thought, but he didn't want to- he knew that Zaha didn't what him to sit there and pity her. She had said once before that she just lived normally instead of dwelling on it. How she did was beyond him, but he was grateful that she had at least survived the attack. Teeth like a shark...

"I'm... I'm sorry," he replied carefully. He stood and circled a bit, then sat next to her, shoulder leaning against hers. He didn't really know what to say to her 'I know how you feel' wouldn't cut it, because he honestly didn't know... his tail twitched nervously for a moment. "Did he... do anything today? Or did you just see him there?" He was a tad worried at this point- the last thing he wanted was for her to be scared this far inland.

Was it easy to guess? Maybe, being that any predator could be a deadly threat. Her paw lifted up to her neck at the memory, glad that she couldn't feel any marks through her fur. "Don't be sorry, but thanks." It had been scary, and words of comfort always did help.

She smiled as he sat near her, bumping her head against his shoulder kindly. She had to pause for a moment, blinking in thought as she noticed some more tiny thorns here and there. A glowy paw moved to brush them off, and some of the ones on her own arm too. "No, thank goodness. But I was so near him, and he didn't notice. I had ducked behind the beach rocks and darted away..." Much too close for comfort.

Yves' fur ruffled a bit, helping to dislodge some of the trapped thorns. His ears flicked, turning slightly to better listen to the other. He wasn't having any trouble anyways, but it always made him feel better when he knew he was listening to someone completely. He lifted his own paw to knock some of the prickers off of Zaha, somewhat grateful that they slid easily from her fur.

"That's good, then," he replied, "That you're alright, that is." His tail wiggled again for a moment. "Do you want to go for a walk for something?" he inquired, "Maybe it'll help you feel a bit better- we could go through the woods." He smiled broadly. He himself needed a walk as well, after wriggling around in a thorn patch. It was relaxing, soothing, quiet. Something he thought would be in both of their best interests.
