Oh dear. Was it set up right? Did he have everything?

Flitch was a nervous little mess. He had been issued a request to host a party, and so the fish's last day or so had been a bit of a mess trying to get everything organized. Having never been a host (or even an attendee) to a party, this was all new new ground for him. He'd bought just about every time of food and drink he could think of within what his limited budget would allow, and done all the set up himself.

His house being the little vortex of chaos it was, Flitch had decided to host it on the lawn of the Sin'aeis mansion rather than at his place. After all, why not? It was big enough, the weather was nice enough (though several pavilions had been set up just in case), and if anyone wanted, there was plenty of space for games.

...They played games at parties, right?

Maybe he should have gotten a book on this.

Once again, the fish went over his setup. Yup. Good enough. Now hopefully people should start coming. After all, it was on the front lawn for a reason. Anyone who wanted to come could just come. After all, wasn't that what parties were about?

Hands shoved in her pockets, Mignon was on her way to the mansion, perhaps to annoy Chaco, perhaps to talk to Illesi. Either or.

Hmmm...? Who was this...?

"Hello?" She called at the tall blue haired teen, one eyebrow raised. Hrm!

A party on the front lawn of the mansion.

Now don't get us wrong, Maelon isn't exactly the party expert over here, but he wasn't entirely sure such a thing was a good idea. Lawn parties were synonymous with lawn bowling and lawn cutting, and neither of the above mentioned things interested him in the slightest. But he had a nagging feeling that he knew the person who was hosting the party, and so the dark chocolate Sin had been forced to leave his MMORPGs and come to a party. Did we mention it was on the front of the mansion lawn yet?

And so Maelon arrived, pocketbook version of The Fifth Elephant tucked into his back pocket. With a small huff he blew his bangs out of his eyes, before shoving his hands in his pockets and sauntering towards the party. Hurray for parties. I can feel the excitement, can you?

Jan wasn't exactly there for the party. In fact, she'd been there since early morning, around the side of the mansion, toward the kitchen entrance where her second garden was. Just working, pulling weeds, planting, that sort of thing. It wasn't until she got up for a break, washing her dirty hands in the sink, that she heard a familiar voice out front. That would be Mignon.

The tall blonde pushed her slightly damp bangs from her eyes and left the kitchen, walking out the front of the mansion to catch an eyeful of the party's set up on the lawn. She was wearing her usual garden-clothes; flip flops, old jeans, and a tank top. Not exactly party attire. Brow raised, she approached her friend, brown eyes shifting from Mignon, to Flitch, to Maelon, then back to the other blonde.

"Hey, Mignon... Any idea wha' all this es?"

Oh boy! People!

Glad that a few people were actually showing up for his little party, Flitch couldn't help but smile. So what if he didn't know who the three were? Familiar though they may have been, Flitch couldn't quite place their faces with names.

"Hello!" he responded with an unusual amount of cheeriness in his voice. "Thanks for coming to the party." Or whatever passed for a party.

Ah, but Mignon never forgot a face. Especially one that had been nice to her at one point or another.

"Flitch." She grinned, then looked up at Jan. "Looks like he's throwing a party, Jan."

Jan was the first person that Maelon spotted, only because she practically towered over everyone else. He had met the blonde in his shop once, but it had been fairly recent so he hadn't forgotten her name that quickly. Not to mention he'd agreed to go camping with her and a bunch of people. That meant he definitely had to remember who she was. Mignon was also identified pretty easily, seeing as he had also seen her fairly recently. But this blue-haired party host.... unlike Mignon, Maelon forgot faces quite easily. He only remembered those who had traumatized him effectively, or those who had at least shown his pets some form of respect. He hadn't seen Flitch since they were both toddlers, and thus the dark chocolate Sin'aeis didn't have a clue who he was.

He gave a small shrug of his shoulders when Flitch thanked them for coming to the party, standing slightly slouched next to Mignon. Welcome to the party. Hooray. But now what were they supposed to do? And more importantly, "How come you're throwing a party?" Maelon asked with a slight frown. There were no happy birthday balloons or anything. Who in their right mind would just throw a party?

Sliding her palms into her back pockets, Jan seemed surprisingly at ease. A quality she'd always had, really, to be laid-back, relaxed, chill. She wasn't too concerned with anything in particular. In fact, she and Maelon looked pretty similar in this instance, with hands in pockets and, albeit he was probably a lot less socially comfortable that she.

In fact, she seemed right at home. She'd met the blue-haired kid once before [Jan combined identification of other sin'aeis by hair color, gender, and odd features, that way she didn't forget anyone], but he was unlikely to remember her. Instead, the blonde simply gave Mignon a return grin, hers slow and lazy as she moved to pour herself a cup of juice from one of the bottles on a nearby table set-up. Free food and drink was a good trade-off for her presence.

"Jan," her free hand stretched out to meet Flitch's as she reintroduced herself. "We've met, but tha' was an awful long time 'go."

After that, she glanced over toward Maelon, voice casual. "Ef ya don' mind, I'd like yer opinion on somethin'? Few days back I got bit by a snake en m'garden. S'poisonous. I wen' t'th'doc'or, but I wann' make sure et's healin' up right." Her gaze dropped to the small bandage on her forearm.

"Oh, uh..." Flitch paused. Aside from a written instruction to hold a party, he honestly didn't have a reason. But that wouldn't sound right, so he had to come with a response on the fly. "I... I thought it'd be a good idea for people to gather and meet. You know, get to know each other? And it's free food, after all..."

Hey, that didn't sound half-bad an answer. He was going to stick with that one.

Thankfully, he was saved from any further explanation when Jan offered her hand. "Jan? Oh, right. I think I remember you. "A pause. "You've grown a lot. I didn't even recognize you."

Allowing his hand to slide from Jan's grasp, he shuffled awkwardly off to the side, letting himself fall quiet. The party was looking to be far smaller than he was hoping for. oh well. Three were better than none, right?

"Mmhm. It's been a while since I've been at a gathering, myself. Usually bump into people one on one around the world."

Mignon leaned slightly against one table, reaching up to fluff her hair. "You've grown quite a bit, Flitch." Mignon grinned. "Still a bit of a book person?"

"Free food. Alright. Fair enough." Free food was always good. Though, Maelon didn't really understand the whole "get together and meet people" thing, but he was used to that. Flitch didn't seem to like the idea either. Maybe he was being bullied into meeting people like the dark chocolate Sin had been when he was younger. Or maybe he was one of those do-gooders who actually tried to get out of their little box and go out into society. Needless to say, Maelon was not one of those. He was content with his computer and his books.

Maelon looked up (waaaay up) at Jan, tilting his head when she said she wanted his opinion on something. What, did she find some strange critter in her garden that she wanted him to look at? If it was another tattoo thing, you could count him out. He barely resisted a sigh of relief when Jan said 'snakes', nodding slowly along with what she was saying. "Yeah, I'll have a look. If it's not blue and purple, chances are it'll be alright. How big was the snake?"

Jan grinned a bit, holding the cup in her wounded arm's hand so she could peel back the bandage. It was a little bruised looking, a bluish tinge to it.

"Mmm, maybe 'bout two feet lon'." She was glad that Mignon was taking on the duty of talking to Flitch, so she could get her bite checked out.

Allowing Jan and the boy (whose name Flitch had yet to discover) to talk about poisonous snake bits, Flitch let himself fall into conversation with... wait. Mignon? Wow. She'd certainly changed since they had last met.

Of course, he could barely remember when they had last met. So maybe she hadn't changed all that much?

"Yeah," he replied with a nod. "I've especially been doing a lot of reading as of late." A pause. "How about you? What have you been up to?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2008 8:39 pm

"Theatre stuff." Mignon fluffed her hair and smiled. My, my. Tall Flitch was tall. "Do you like to read plays and stuff? I've been reading a lot more of those as of late."

Maelon blew his bangs out of his eyes to see better, before regarding the wound critically. He had dealt with snake bites fairly often, generally because of his job. The snakes where he worked were generally pretty quiet, but there were always a few newcomers to the store who managed to get themselves bitten while handling something they shouldn't. After he had discovered his talent for detoxifying poisons, helping out those who'd been bitten had been quite a bit easier. Still, the wounds were always fresh which made it easier to see what was going on.

"It's not new, so I wouldn't be able to tell you too much about what's going on without reopening it, which wouldn't be too pleasant." He paused for a moment to carefully run his fingers around the bite, tongue between his teeth as though he was thinking. "I don't think there's anything in there, just judging by the colour alone. It'd be a really wonky colour if you'd left it this long and there was still a lot of venom in there, so I think you're safe. You went to the doctor, right, so it should be fine."
