As he entered the cyber cafe, Fade carried the little girl to a chair and settled her there, "Don't move," he said quietly as he walked over to one of the computers nearby. He would have to look through them to find books on child-rearing and blindness. There was no way he was going to get into this with nothing to go on.
The little girl made a few protesting noises-- she didn't like being deserted when she didn't even know what was going on. She couldn't -see- anything, and now she was all by herself without anyone to even hold her. How did she know anyone was even watching her at all?
The man didn't seem to notice the girl's distress, though, and started typing some things on the computer to see if he could order a few books to help him out.

Dartsmoore stared around this strange place. It wasn't a bar, but it'd have to do. She didn't have internet access at her current residence yet, and her children weren't quite ready to drink anything she liked yet so a cafe with internet and pastries would just have to suffice for now.
She didn't like the idea of setting Bailey or Kahlua down anywhere in this place. Being a little too paranoid for her own good, but paranoid enough for their good, kept her from doing something that could potentially endanger her children. The silver haired assassin hated being a "parent" but there was no way in hell she was letting someone make off with her sprats.
And so it was that she felt slightly annoyed seeing the man place his daughter in a seat and walk off without her. He was either very new at his job, very very stupid, or a total jackass who didn't deserve to raise a child.
"I don't know much about parenting or customs on this planet, but last I checked, leaving children unattended-especially unrestrained in a public place-is a stupid idea." she said loudly, striding over and putting her free hand on the girl's shoulder to quiet her.

The man blinked, turning around to look at the woman addressing him, "She's not really unattended," he said by way of excuse, "She's right here behind me." He waved towards the girl seated in a chair behind the computer he'd found.
Valkyrie was pleased, because this meant that at least -someone- was paying attention to her, and made a sort've unhappy squeak and lifted her arms in the direction of the pressure on her arm.
Fade didn't notice. "I'm trying to figure out what to do with her."

"Being behind you is not the best place for her to be. Anyone could do this for instance." the woman said, and promptly leaned the short distance down and picked up the child in her free arm. "And make off with her."
Bailey, who was situated on Dartie's hip, glanced curiously at the girl and stuck out his tongue to hiss at her. Kahlua, meanwhile, made a squawk of surprise when his seat attop his guardian's shoulders was jostled by her bending a little. Staring down at the girl, he wondered vaguely who she was. Definitely not that pesky boy Kiemna, or even Bailey. How odd.
"Luckily for you, I've got my own sprats to deal with and don't want yours. But you should probably keep her on your lap if you're going to be on the computer. That or have a friend watch her. Kids can get taken away, or run away, or do damage to themselves when theyr'e left unwatched-even if they're right behind you. Especially disabled children."

He paused briefly, watching as the woman picked her up, "I'm not even sure that I want to keep her. Perhaps it would be better for her if someone did take her, afterall."
He wasn't exactly the parenting type-- more of a soldier, if anything. He could protect adults, but babysitting? He didn't know how to change diapers or feed an infant, and he certainly didn't know the first thing about teaching one to become an adult.
Valkyrie could of course hear, even if she couldn't see, and she didn't like the sound of this one bit. The hiss and squawking noises didn't help. Just where -had- her guardian taken her anyhow? She made a soft whimpering noise, about ready to start with the crying.

Dartsmoore gave him a dark look. "If you got entrusted with this kid, you're caring for it. That's the end of it. And you're doing the best you can for it, becuase who knows. You could be caring for a reborn deity or something and the fate of worlds could be in your hands. Not exactly something you want to just let be carried off by anyone."

Fade raised an eyebrow. A reborn deity? Was she insane? He wasn't even certain he believed in deities. Besides, how could one die? Wasn't part of the point of a deity the fact that it was immortal? And then, if it -could- die, how could it be reborn?
She must be crazy. That was really the only excuse for it. Most likely, she was also drunk, judging by the smell of alcohol that emanated from her.
"Well, it's not like I picked her out or anything. She just showed up on my doorstep. How am I supposed to know what to do with her? She'd probably be better off in an orphanage or some such. Especially since she's blind. I can't care for a regular child, let alone a disabled one."
Valkyrie whimpered again, and Fade seemed to hear it this time. Softening just a little bit, he reached out for her, "At any rate, I'll take her back from -you-."
