Are you a mid-core gamer?

Plenty of gamers are often stuck between the definitions of "casual" and "hardcore." They care too much to be the former, and yet they don't care enough to be the latter. If you're one of them, and yearning for your own defining category, then worry no more. You might just be a mid-core gamer.

What does your new-found identity mean? According to 8-Bit Rocket, it means you're the type of gamer who doesn't want to buy a new computer every time a new game comes out. You might love MMOs, but you don't have the time (or patience) for eight-hour quests. You might own the latest consoles, but you might not finish every single game you buy. 8-Bit Rocket also suggests that mid-core gamers are generally of the older generations, but we firmly believe that young people can be mid-core as well.

So, are you mid-core, or not? Declare yourself in the comments.

I fall directly into this category. I never finished Phantom Hourglass, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime Hunters, Prime 1, Pokemon Diamond [second run], Elite Beat Agents, F-Zero GX, Top Gear [SNES], Castlevania: DoS, Phoenix Wright: AA, Fire Emblem, KH: CoM, Socom, Pokemon Colosseum ... the list goes on ... literally.

I usually finish all the games I play, but unless I don't really care, it's being rented, or it's short, I usually takes me a while to beat them all. It took me two years to fully complete Wind Waker.

I upgraded my PC for Crysis, watched it die, then fixed it so I could go back to playing TF2. I played FFXI to end game and was a part of a HNM linkshell that defeated Absolute Virtue with out the wall glitch and pre-any possible gimp him patch. I upgraded my PS3 HDD while having an external drive. I have a capable 7.1 sound system and two 1080p sets.

I'm too hardcore for your mid-core!

Though you can be hardcore and not finish every game you buy. You can't be an utter masochist though.

By the way, I'm not rich. I just know money. XD

Are you serious?..It took me 3 days.

I'm too hardcore to be mid-core. I usually finish my games in a short time. And I don't play PC games as much as I did before. My Red Alert 2 game suffices for me.

I purpose that we make our own gaming demographic, because most of us are not c**k-headed enough to be considered truly hardcore, and most of us are also a lot more hardcore than what's described up there.

If anything hardcore doesn't mean how many games you own..it's how much time you spend on that game or games. I know a friend..all he does is play Starcraft..

I cannot beat most of my games. The last 2 games I beat was the single player of COD 4, and Portal.

I feel that's quite impossible, since it takes 2 days to sail around the Great Sea, without any charts or ways to defend yourself.

Mind you, I 100% completed the game, everything that could be touched, killed acquired, found, looked at, I even messed With Tingle for about 10 hours. I played threw the last main areas in the storyline using Tingle.

I'm midcore for hard games. If a game can hold my interest, then I'll finish it. But if it's hard and makes me cry the hundreth time I try, I put it down for months and then when I go back to it, I beat it on my first try D:. (Devil May Cry 3)

crying Oh @$%# I'm a mid-core gamer.

I can't afford the latest consols and I don't have enough time to play my games.
I have 6 games that I've owned for over a year & I haven't even popped them into my ps2. I have 8 other ps2 games I have yet to beat. 9 if you include ddr but I enjoy it enough without bothering to make song progress.

I've found it's easier for me to play my psp cause I can turn it off after 5 minutes without loosing my progress. Then pick it up again when I get a break from homework, chores, or other projects.

I'd be a hardcore gamer, I just don't have the time.
crying I just died a little inside with this realization.

I feel as though I am becoming upper-middle core. By looking at sales, it's becoming apparent that casuals are warming up to Sega games. I've been playing Riders 2 for days now. That's sort of disturbing, but oh well. If nothing else, they have Crush 40. (even if Zero Gravity doesn't sound too much like it)
Come on Ace, I know you want to flame me for liking Sonic.
