i'll go first.
I'm running a game of d20 40k, I'm the DM and there are three players. two haven't made their characters yet but we're tanking care of that. the other guy is a dumb as a rock deathworlder that can melee and shoot with eqaul effectiveness.
The PCs are starting off in a rogue trade merchant ship that's been taken over by a small swarm of tyranids. their objective is to find a way to escape and destroy the ship/send it far far away.
thoughts?

I think that in roleplaying in general that no one should be able to use premade characters, only ones of their own device.

We're starting a DH campaign over here. It's kind of like Inquisitor without the ability to have stats of 70+. I consider myself lucky to be starting with a Fellowship (Charisma, for you 20 folks) of 53 on my Dreg, which almost the max you can start with. If I really wanted to, I suppose I could have started with a Fellowship of 58, but It wasn't worth the 250 experience for the 5 extra Fel.

Tip for those attempting to play sniper characters:
By starting as an assassin, it's easily possible to be shooting at +30 to hit all the time, and to be making called shots at +20, easily countering your fairly low BS of ~40. Trick is to take a hunting rifle to start with. By using your first half action each round to aim, you automatically get +20 to hit. At half range, which is very likely assuming you play with minis, you cap out your bonus at +30. To boost this further, buy a red-dot laser sight for the rifle. Now you have a bonus of +40 when aiming, but bonuses always cap at 30. So make a called shot. Assuming a BS of 40, you'll be shooting people in the head every time with 60% accuracy, at level one.

So the Inquisitor's Handbook bas been released in the UK, and some of us have been lucky enough to get some looks into it from those copies. What's everyone's reactions? Personally, I like that there's more info on some of the more specific cities and worlds. I'm really glad that the Metallicans get quite a bit of attention, Gunmetal City was the most interesting place I read of in the main rulebook, and the IH's introduction of both a starting character template and an alternate advance rank for Metallican characters is excellent.

Lt. Brookman Very funny, I'll have to wait until those ******** Yanks start reprinting the main rulebook before I can finally get started with Dark Heresy. Huh? Well, I assume the pirate copy I've seen has got to have originated somewhere. I had heard it was out in the UK. Besides, there are still copies of the original printing out there.

The odd 1000 or so copies sent to my country have quickly been sold out or reserved before even hitting the shelves. I've reserved with three separate stores, waiting for the effing reprint to finally be released. At the earliest it'll be Summer, worst case is most likely Autumn.

The Barnes and Nobles out here has a stack of 10 or so. Or did at any rate; might be down to 5 now.
