Tavor was walking around silently in a denser area of the forest he had been risiding in lately. He had been lucky, in his opinion: he had managed to avoid contact with anything larger than a little ladybug. And even that had initially given him a huge shock when it had made a full frontal attack by flying right into his eye. Nasty experience that had been. He swore he had almost screamed like a girl.
He sniffed the air and smelled water nearby. As the smell registered in his mind, he realized that he was actually quite thirsty. Following his nose, and reached a natural fence of bushes that were obviously hiding the water on the other side.
Squeezing through the bushes, he carefully stuck his tiny green head out and surveyed the area; making sure that nobody was near the calmly flowing river that was bending through the clearing he had reached. Satisfied with seeing nobody, he took a few careful steps towards the river, hoping that nothing would ambush him from the surrounding trees.

Ryu could hear the water before he smelt it, and he smiled. It had been a decently warm morning, and now he was feeling a bit tired and thirsty after walking for so long. Whipping his tail so swat an annoying bug buzzing around him, he made his way to where the sound of the river was coming from.
Yawning a bit as he walked through the trees, he shook his head, trying to wake himself up. Maybe he would find a place to lay down for a while and take a small nap. He smiled to himself as he saw the blue of the river through the thinning trees.
As he stepped out towards the banks, he froze, blinking as he spotted what looked like a young Uluya. "Kid... what are you doing out here alone...?" It wasn't safe, that's for sure... and where was this kid's parents?

Tavor hadn't heard the older ulaya approach the river; the faint rushing of water had been too loud for him to hear much else - being as focused on the water as he had been.
Upon hearing the sudden voice, Tavor almost jumped a meter in the air. He snapped his eyes up to meet the dangerous looking ulaya. He studdered and stammered, unable to focus on much else than the dual-colored eyes, and the sharp horns of the maroon male.
His brain was yelling for him to run for it, but his body wouldn't listen, and he was frozen in the spot. His eyes were wide as saucers and he resorted to simply staring at the male with fear.

Ryu sweatdroped as he watched the kit jump straight in the air; he really hadn't meant to startle the poor kid. Watching the kid stutter and stammer, Ryu started to feel a bit bad.
'Jeeze, am I really THAT scary...?' He thought to himself as the kid stared at him with the look of pure terror in his eyes. Sighing a bit, Ryu walked up to him. "You shouldn't be out here alone, where is your mother...?" He repeated his question, wondering if he should just give up trying to talk to the kid.

Looking around, Tavor quickly judged that his means of escape were limited. Actually, he probably wouldn't be able to get anywhere at all, the other ulaya was too big.
He shrunk back slightly as the maroon male started walking towards him, and only barely managed to register the words that were spoken. His brain worked on overtime trying to decide whether to answer or not.
On one hand it could be a plot; if his mother wasn't near, the older male could easliy attack him. But, a small voice in his head objected, perhaps the male really was just worried about him. "I, uh... I don't have one..." he finally piped up in a tiny voice, some fear leaving his eyes.

Ryu was silent a bit as he watched Tavor shrink back at each step he made. After a couple steps, he stopped trying to move closer all together. It was doing neither of them any good, and the kit was about ready to back into the water.
"You don't have one.... I see....." He let his voice trail off, feeling an almost likeness between the two of them. "Neither do I." His eyes flickered towards where he thought he saw movement, and his muscles tensed; until he realized it was just a harmless mouse getting something to drink.

Tavor relaxed almost invisibly as the other male admitted to not having a mother either. Tavor thought he was the only one who didn't have the misfortune of not knowing his mother "You... you don't?" he asked, his voice just slightly more secure. If he had wanted to attack Tavor, he would have done so by now, wouldn't he?
Tavor noticed that the moto'undil tensed his muscles all of a sudden, and honestly thought that he was done for now. So it had just been a scheme to gain his trust first after all. He almost wanted to cry, and he had an inkling of an idea that he actually let a few tears spill from his eyes from fear.
That was, until he saw a little white mouse run toward the water. And realized that the adult's eyes were locked on the mouse; not on Tavor.
He barely had the chance to give a sight of relief, and was about to open his mouth when a large shadow suddenly cast darkness over his own tiny form. Blinking a few times he looked up and spotted a huge eagle coming talon-first towards him in top speed.
Screaming loudly like a girl, he urged his body to run as fast as possible, but instead, once more found himself frozen on the spot. PLAY DEAD! His counsciousness finally screamed at him, and he prompty threw himself on the back with closed eyes and his tonue lolling out of the side of his mouth; on everything went black.
He had fainted.

"Move!" Ryu belted out as the rather large bird of pray came into view. His sharp eyes noted the mouse was gone, and then they also noted something else; the kit had dropped to the ground and was pretending to be dead. Ryu wanted to smack his forehead at the absurdity of that idea, but there wasn't enough time.
As the bird came down on Tavor, Ryu charged, putting his horns first, and raming into the eagle, sending it to the ground, rolling. "Get lost." He growled at the eagle, standing protectively over Tavor, his teeth bared and his fur on edge.

Tavor mumbled incoherently and tried to open his eyes, slowly coming to again. When his eyes were finally in focus again he saw the other male standing protectively over him, and the eagle lying slightly disoriented on the ground.
A blush formed on his cheeks, clashing horrible with his green fur. He couldn't believe himself. He had fainted! And the other male had most likely saved his life.
So much for being careful and observant. He scrambled to his feet, sat miserably by the other male's feet, his ears drooping and said "Thank your Mr." embarrasment lacing his tone.

Ryu's eye's flickered to Tavor for a moment, checking to make sure he was alright, before turning and watching the eagle get up. "Stay down and stay still." He said somewhat sternly to the kit, then ran towards the eagle again, growling.
The eagle, seeing the charging horned creature running at it, quickly started flapping it's wings and got off the ground right as Ryu reached it. It gave a screech of anger at Ryu, but left.
Ryu snorted, watching the eagle until it was out of sight, then turned and walked over to Tavor, inspecting the kit closer now. "You alright, kid?" From his eyes, the kit looked fine. "Name's Ryu, by the way, so don't call me 'Mister'."

Tavor froze in place at the command. This ulaya had just saved his life, so he figured it would probably be in his best interest to do as he said. Pressing himself to the hard ground, he looked as if he was trying to perhaps become one with the dirt.
However, as the maroon male managed to chase away the eagle he couldn't help but jump up and cry a loud "YEAH! THAT WAS AWESOME!" and proceed to chase after the eagle himself "AND DON'T YOU COME BACK...!"
He slowly padded back to Ryu, and suddenly looked a little less brave "Tavor" he quibbed "My name is Tavor... and uhm... yeah, I'm fine, really... no need to worry about me" he all but breathed.

A small smirk played on Ryu's muzzle as Tavor chased with him. For such a timid kit, he sure did have guts. Maybe there was hope for him. Looking down calmly at the kit, Ryu raised an eyebrow. "Any reason you're shaking like a leaf...?"
This time, he was watching Tavor with full attention, despite the small movements his eyes were constantly picking up. He was reading the kit's body language, and while he would hardly admit it to himself, the kit was growing on him a bit.

Tavor blushed a little bit again, just realizing that he was, in fact, shaking terribly. "I'm just... cold?" he tried, not sure exactly who he was trying to convince; himself or Ryu.
Hearing a branch snap somewhere behind him, he jumped again, an promptly shortened the distance between himself and the maroon male in a few fast steps, trying to hide behind Ryu.
He peeked up over the back of the Moto'Undil only to see the same little mouse scurry around in the bushes.

Ryu couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the kit, shaking his head a little. "You're quite the jumper, that's for sure, Kid...." He stretched a bit, relaxing a small amount.
He could feel his stomach hitting empty, and he figured it was probably time to go looking for food. Eying Tavor, his smirk appeared on his maw again. "You hungry...."

Tavor blinked a few times before nodding slightly. Yes, he suposed that he was just a tad bit jumpy. Was it really that obvious? His eyes were fixed on the older male, and hesitantly copied the movements.
Just as the older male had finished talking, Tavor's stomach growled loudly. "Yeah... I suppose I'm just a tiny bit hungry" he admitted.
