SOAD has songs that talk about the government but are they political?
NO. In some of the bands interviews they have stated that they are not political. They happen to hate politics, and the fact that people say that they are politically involved.

They claim they are not.

But it really depends on what you define as a political band.

They write songs on whatever they want, whatever is going on in the world. So this will obviously include some kind of politics, since politics are a huge part of this world.

They do not hate people involved in politics. They like Michael Moore and he's very involved in political affairs.

So it's all on how you look at it.

Going off of Serj Tankian's solo record, the song "Saving Us" can either be a love song about a bad break up or it can be heard as political.

It is pretty much about perspective, I guess.
Daron's like, "we ain't bout dis political bs we who we are and u cant change dat s**t y'know?"

Well you also have to realize, Serj had nothing to do with the video, he sent it off and wanted no imput on it. The video is the director's intake on the song, perhaps not Serj's.

You say that like I've never seen it before.

You also say that like you don't read interviews.

Please remember, Serj did not have any input on the videos, he was told what to do. He was not the director.

And as what was mentioned before, he talks about things going on, which the war is something going on right now being it political or not, it doesn't mean that he is straight-up political.

ORLY? Interesting.. but I would hope as the artist and composer that he would have some say. Also.. would he produce a video if it didn't resound somehow with the original message he was trying to send. Details please..

So far, the only videos Serj has had input in are the ones he is DIRECTLY in (So not even Lie Lie Lie). This includes Sky is Over and Empty Walls only. Before Serj released Elect the Dead, he gave one song to 13 different director friends. He told them to make a video with any of their own ideas, interpretations, anything. So then they came up with the 13 different videos and sent them into Serj. So Serj has been releasing them gradually for the public to view. However, he did do ANOTHER video for Sky is Over with the same director who did Empty Walls. I'm thinking it's because Sky is Over is the next single, he needs to be involved in the video, for marketing purposes.

well I will have to admit that i don't read any interviews but I dont really believe that serj was so dumb to do EVERYTHING what his director tells him and if those 12 videos are now officials its because serj wanted that way and if it wasnt i will have to say that i am really disappointed of Serj. evil

System had to be at least somewhat political, for example:

Prison Song or Hypnotized.

^Some songs are political, yes...but then why does it mean that System is considered a political band?

Serj has said numerous times that a good love will more likely change the world than a political one.
