Phobos looked to the sky. It was cool out, and the sun was descending down on the horizon, casting a purple and pink glow, fading into the blackness of the night time. Soon the rays would disappear and the stallion would find himself cast in the shadows.
This was basically his life.
The light was always going, and he could simply watch them leave, unable to make them stop, and only able to dwell on the oncoming darkness. It was senseless to appreciate the light while it was still around. Fickle as it was, it would always be gone eventually. The stallion let out a long, extended sigh. Dusk was one of his least favorite times of the day. So sad, so dramatic.
But then again, night time was horrid and lonely, and day time was depressing and hopeless. The stallion thought on it for a moment, and came to the conclusion that ALL times of day were horrible, and that he hated them equally. Which in itself was rather depressing.

The fear in Harlequin was rising. There were things in this world she knew to only come out at night, things that would want to eat someone like herself. She did not want to meet those forces again; and thus she ran.
As the light continued to fade Harlequin lost hope that she would reach her home before dark. She slowed to a stop, breathing heavily and sweat glistening from her coat, before checking her surroundings. Not far away there was a stallion looking to the sky. Though Harlequin knew not to talk to strangers, this soquili seemed familiar to her; not to mention it was safer to travel with someone than alone.
Without any further hesitation, Harlequin made her way over to the stallion. "Hello!" She called out to the male, trying her hardest to seem too eager to be near another soquili in the dark.

Phobos' ears perked, he seemed to hear something...the thunder of hooves? Perhaps. He made a small noise of surprised when he heard a voice, The stallion turned around, meeting eyes with a mare that wasn't too far away. The darkness masked her expression, but surly she had come to mock his sadness.
"What do you want?" he asked, trying his best to retain his politeness. The stallion was a bit more open to interact with mare then stallions, but either way, neither of them were exactly preferably. No, the stallion liked to dwell on his sorrows alone. But at least mares were a bit better with sympathizing. Plus, he had grown up with mostly his mother and sister. His father was around too, but Phobos had never really connected with his father. Kiefer had tried very hard to raise Phobos properly, despite the fact that he was quite unsure about the details of fatherhood. But there was always something that kept the two separate.

Harlequin was still breathing somewhat heavily has she came to a stop beside the male. It was only then that she could take in fully what he looked like. The stallions appliance was familiar, as if from a dream long forgotten that still lurked in the back of her mind. She wracked her brain to figure out what it was she was reminded of, but could not.
"Um..." Should she tell him that in truth she was afraid of the dark? Quin shook her head. "I... I was just on my way home and saw you. I thought I should say hi." Harlequin lied.
She paused for a good, long moment before asking. "Do I know you from somewhere?"
