This valley is not the easiest place to live in. It is extremely well vegetated however. The valley walls are fairly steep but still climbable. One wall of the valley is a shear cliff face however with a flowing waterfall ending in a small pool. Behind the waterfall is a large cave. There is no village currently in Neidzwiedzi Zajb because of it's location and rugged terrain, but the cave provides livable conditions.

The wind was beginning to pick up. A storm was coming soon. The sound of trees bending over in the wind was making it's way to him.

Gosh i really need shelter. I'll find a place to stay over that next hill

Niko Myyra made his way up the hill using his quarterstaff for balance, it was his only fighting weapon. An old master swordsman told him a long time ago that he lost a fight to a farmer with a quarterstaff. Niko instantly fell in love with the weapon. He also carried a backpack with a mallet, a hatchet and a small knife along with some pots and pans and dishes.

By the time Niko was nearing the top of the hill, the sky darkened from the storm overhead. Bolts of lightning cracked the sky and thunder rumbled through the hills. Niko made it to the top of the hill but he didn't know it was the top. He took one more step upwards, realized the next step should've been down, and he ended up toppling head over foot. He landed a long time later next to a pool. He was bleeding from a cut on his arm and he had a massive headache. He needed rest.

Niko noticed a waterfall and decided to wash his wounds. He would make shelter here he decided. He heard the waterfall echoing very peculiarly from the face of the cliff and decided to venture behind it. What he found was an immense cave.

Niko stumbled into the cave. There were massive stalagmites and stalactites on the floor and ceiling. There was a certain essence about this cave. It was unusually large for the size of its, Not-so-Large entrance. All of a sudden a great gust of air came from the depths of the cave along with a faint whisper.

Niko became tense and held his quarterstaff in front of him, suspecting an attack. No attack came however. Niko lit the makeshift lantern he had and continued further into the cave. His footsteps echoed loudly has he clumped around with his half-limp from falling down into the steep valley floor. A 3 minute walk brought him to the back of the cave. Another gust of wind came from one a corner and nearly toppled Niko over.

ok, there can't be another opening out of the cave Niko ventured to the corner. He did not see anything, no crack in the wall, nothing out of the ordinary. where the hell did that wind come from he thought. Then all of sudden a gust of wind blew up from the ground around his feet. Another whisper followed the gust of wind and Niko looked to the ground. What he saw was a rock, roughly the size of his forearm. It was completely smooth yet still oblong in shape.

What is this...it can't be... Niko had heard tales of dragon eggs but he didn't know that any existed. The thought of a dragon egg totally left his mind. He picked up the "rock" and brought it back with him near the front of the cave so he could study it within the light of fire.

Niko hastily built a fire using the flame from his lantern and he began to dry off his wet clothes. He set the "rock" down beside him and gave it a couple taps.

Mai walked through a forest. She was surrounded by trees and bushes of many sorts. She stepped on the steep rocky path in front of her and soon slipped. She couldn’t' keep her balance and she started to fall uncontrollably down the hill. She noticed something though. While she was sliding down, it felt hollow.

Mai grabbed for her sword and jabbed it as hard as she could into the ground to stop her self from falling any longer. Mai started to dig in that one spot. She dug repeatedly some more through the pile of rockish dirt. She could hear water when she put her ear up to it. She was curios. What was it. She quickly jabbed her sword in the spot where she had dug the hole, grabbing onto a large near by rock.

The hole widened with every hi she made with her sword. The ground beneath her started to crumble. Mai screamed as she fell through the hole that crumbled beneath her. She was scratched and bruised by some of the rubble that fell onto her.

Mai fell into a cavern, completely surrounded by water. It was a large place, it was circular, and looked like there was no way out. She treaded water to where it looked like there was somewhere she could sit some where dry. It took Mai a couple breaths before she could breathe normal again. She shivered after being in the water. She looked up and around trying to spot away out of the cavern of water.

She thought it was curios how there was just this small cavern of water. She didn't know the reason. She stared into the water, looking for maybe a way out that way. Mai took off the pack that she was carrying and the sword and placed it on the ledge. She was wearing a short pair of shorts and a short tank top. She could swim in that. She dove into the water. It was deep. She squinted her eyes in the water and noticed a faint glowing spot.

She thought it was odd. Se swam up for air and quickly dove back down to the spot where she saw the glowing light. She traced her hand over it. It was smooth. Was it a rock? It had a blue like texture through out the whole thing. Dark blue and light blue swirls could be found through out the rock. She gasped for air and swam back up.

She coughed slightly and swam back down. The rock was wedged in between something. It didn't look to strong so she pulled it out. She felt a warm glow coming from it, but it didn't show. She swam back up and took it back to the ledge. She stayed there treading water for a bit trying to figure out what she was going to do now.

Feawen weaved her ways through the trees, careful to be quiet even though there was no one around. The area was extremely desolate, a fact that was bitter-sweet to Feawen. Though she did not trust people that easily, companionship was always a nice thing. And she had been lacking it for quite a while.

Wandering the world handn't quite been what Feawen expected, for she never forsaw how lonely she would really become. But other than that, the young woman loved every moment of it, despite its threats.

Another strong gust of wind rattled the trees around her, howling as it swept through the steep valley. But despite the noise of the creaking trees and the foul weather, Feawen could hear something else. She tilted her head, trying to think of wht it could be when it hit her. It was a waterfall. The woman guessed that there might be some form of shelter by the falls and continued downhill. It grew steeper as she moved forwards, to the point where she could tumble down like a ragdoll if she were to slip.

Another vicious gust of wind blasted into her and a cracking noise could be heard. There was a sudden snap and a large, leafy tree fell towards Feawen. Alarmed, she scrambled to the side and peat out of the way, but this caused her to lose her footing and send her tumbling down the cliffside. It was all a blur as she fell. All she could remember was that she was in pain. Then she was in freefall and all was peaceful. But only for a moment. Feawen felt her arm snap as she hit a rock that jutted out of the cliffside with sickening force. She remembered giving a scream of pain, then she slammed into a ledge and her vision went black.

Feawen awoke sometime later and grimaced as pain shot up and down her clearly broken arm. Her chest hurt, but there were no broken bones other than the arm. Luckily. She looked around at her surroundings a sighed. She apparently had tumbled off a cliff and landed on a ledge. And it was high too. Climbing down would be horrible with her arm, but she would have to manage.

((this was going to be really long. but when I originally typed but I accidentaly clicked something, and the 20 paragraphs I had, are gone))

After while, Mai manedged to get out./ She didn't know hoe she accomplished it, but she did it. She had the egg in her bag. It glowed a faint light. It took a while to get home. but she manedged. Th egg was actually light weight and preaty good for a rock she thought.

Mai took the rock /egg to ehr room along with her sword. covering it with ahy of all sorts. There was a creaking of a door from the porch. "Mai, were home, get packed, we must leave," Her father insisted. she had quickly hid all her belongings in a hay stack.

"What's all this all of a sudden?....." sh trailed off. "he kins men are coming. We don't want to be here for it. WEre all splitting up. yoou are to stay here, while me and your father leave till everything dies down," her mother said. They left quickly and she could do nothing.

She slumpped down. She didn't know what to do now....

...............................................................

The next few days were spent getting food from the garden and doing other house hold things. she stared at the rock egg with amazment. The Kings men had came through and gone with minimal damage. She was glad though that they missed her house. That night though something incredible happened.

Mai was sitting in her room dreaming when sh heard a crackling noise, from the egg. When she glance d over to it, it wasn't an egg anymore. it was a dragon. It was of a dark blue color, it resembled rain she thought. She felt excited. A real dragon was what she wanted. She had heard stories of hem, and now she had one. Mai walked over to it and gave a smalll piece of meat, it quickly ate it up. She smiled this was going to be great.

..........................................................

Two weeeks later sh new she couldn't keep it in the house. It was the size of a table now. but then again, she was alone in the house. But if the kinds soldiers came again. She decided it would be best to hide it. Somewhere close, but she couldn't get into the forest ll that much now she had to do something else. She spent the next few hours colleting a bunch of hay. She then put it on her dragon and looked at it. It looked like just a piece of , or bunch of hay.

She looked at the dragons eyes. "I need to name you," she said to him. She thought about the name lng and hard. "Raing," she said. that was what she had named it. I like it the voice rang through her mind. She froze. and looked at the dragon and merely thought she needed sleep.

..........................................................................

The next past month her parents had still not come home, she was getting worried. The dragon was the size of a very large wagon. She smiled at it everytime she looked at it. She cared for the animals each day, and also cared for her dragon, Rain. It came to be the day where she had to take the dragon away from teh house, it was to big t fit in there any more. She decided. She thought about i . Seh would take it to a river, or a lake of somesort to live by. Surely the dragon could livee under water, after all, she found the egg in water. and that was what she did. She took it to a lakefar far away, and decieded to lev there. She didn't know what to do next....

Mai had spet the next day working on a protective shelter, one that would concele them from anyone else. She made sure she was fast, but also slow enough so it was efficient. Rain flew through under the lake waters she wondered what she was going to do. She was making her hut by the lake, but far enough so it wasn't caving in from water, but close enough so it was by the dragon. She the thought that building it under ground would not work well, then she spotted it. A cave. A cave she could hide in.

The cave was small. She was preay small her self. The whole would barely fit her. She walked over to t. It was leading ino a largeer cav, but getting into it would be tough. It was lie it was wedged into a corner, only spottable from the right angle. She slid into it. It seemed to be lit some how. She could hear water in it. When she found ehr way to where she heard the sound. It was a large cave, but ot a lake, it wa a circular type cave.

The water started to move. She stepped ack. She started to move closer when out ppopped Rain. She gave a sigh of relief. "Don't scare me like that," she said to Rain. Sorry Mai froze. there it is again. The voice was of a normal voice, but slightly high pitched, not to high, though. She looked at ehr dragon. "did you just.?.?.?.?] she started but watched the dragon nod its head. She thought for a moment. "Ok, then question one. How far iit from here, to out there.... from under that water?" she asked Rain. She wasn't sure if she was going to get a straight answer, but she new she need one. Not far" Rain said. Rain talked through her mind so only she could hear it.

She paused for a sconed. She new what she was going to do. She was going to fill in the spot she had come through, and always take ehr dagon off. The cave of water was large and curicular and gave the dragon alot of room. There was also enough room for her. It was a good find, ,a new home. Not only that, but there were fish looming around the water. What she needed was to set up a net, or a fishing rod, or something.

She shook her head. She needed everything transferred into the caev where she would be staying. After doing that she collected firewood and among other bish type things. Seh collected many bush like shrubbery. She kept the rock whole open though for the time being, she needed to collect a ot of firewoood and thats what she did. She had collected almost four hundred pieces of wood so that she was prepared. she was fast at that kind of stuff. She collected alot of shrubbery and made a bed. Also useing some of the wood and vines to make a better bed. She was completly isolated in there. There was air, clean water, fish. Enough for everything. She new she needed a disguise.

For the time being, she disguised her self as a peasent. It's all she had. She had found old tatered cloths at a the lake cloths that she used. It was her only hope. Ocassionaly she would tell her dragon to wait farther out in the lake so she could bath. Not in the water of coarse. She grabbed a bucket she made out of wood and used it to wash her self with the water.

It wwas calm for the next few days. She and ehr dragon lived complety in the cave. With all the needs they needed. She had covered the hole to inside so that no one could se it. She piled it with heavy rocks. And a trap. So if someone broke in, they would be spotted. She had traps set everywhere. Even in the water, (besides the nets) so no one could get in without being spotted.

Feawen groaned and huddled against the cliffside as rain began to pour, delaying her climb down from her tiny ledge. She sighed and looked around once more, her eyes straying to a partially burried rock nestled close to the edge of the ledge. It was much lighter than the surrounding earth, even looking metalic. Perhas it was just the rain... No. As Feawen drew nearer, she could tell the rock had a light silver iridesence to it. Awed, the girl began picked away the rocks that held the stone in place. Once her work was done, she held a pearl colored rock, smooth and shining silver. She tilted her head, slightly confused. What could it possibly be?

Feeling weariness tugging at her, Feawen forgot about the strange rock and pressed herself against the cliff, trying to fall asleep. She could climb down in the morning.

~~~
Her eyes snapped open and she sat upwards, gritting her teeth as pain shot through her arm. Eventually it calmed to a dull throbbing and the young woman peered around, trying to find what had woken her. Her grey eyes rested upon the pearl stone, which begsn to rock gently back and forth. As cracks spiderwebbed down the shell, Feawen watched, enchanted. The egg gave another violent shudder and exploded, sending fragments of egg shell all over the woman. In the stones place was a glistening little dragon that matched the color of its shell. The hatchling creeled piteously and stumbled towards the awe struck Feawen, then reaching her, butted her tiny head against the woman's leg. The dragon creeled again in hunger and looked longingly up tnto Feawen's eyes.
The woman was baffled, but reached into her knapsaclk and pulled out a strip of dried meat. The dragon chirped and lunged at the morsel, then proceeded to know it to bits. At that moment, a gust of wind whistled through the valley creating a sweet tone. The dragon's head shot up and she threw her head back, emitting a similar noise in a soft soprano voice. A smile grew on Feawen's lips. "You... need a name. You shall be Sulaer, which means wind song."
Marching soon filled Niedzwiedzi Zajb as Darsa and the old man entered the valley. They were accompanied by two hundred men armed to the tooth.
Darsa turned his steed around and was about to give orders by the old man stopped him.
"I am the captain!"
Darsa glared by smiled as he back down and let the Captain give out orders. The old man addressed the men, "Groups of ten, search this entire valley down to ever rock. Find. The. Girl!"
The man rawed him and began to head off but Darsa spoke quickly, "If you find the rider or another...come back here, don't confort!" Darsa turned to the Captain and grinned, "You may be captain but I am the one with knowledge of the Dragon Riders...even a beginner you will need all your men to take the dragon down!"
The old man snarled but nodded in agreement at the order and the men scattered. Darsa watched the old man leaved with a group to check where his family used to live. Darsa would enjoy doing his orders at then end of this when the rider as found.
Darsa took a group of ten men and headed for the lake.
Mai was in her little cave pacing back and forth. She wanted to go out, ut she thought it would be dangrous. It made ehr feel annoyed. Mai fell back on her back onto the bed and sighed looking up at the ceiling. The fire was going and she had been cooking fish. Rain was in the water, ssimple swimming around in cirlcles. She thought for a moment. "Rain? Arn't dragons suppposed to breath fire?" she asked the dragon. Seh was curios cause all the weeks she had been with Rain she had never breathed fire. "It's true we do. I've never tried to breath it though. Maby I'll try?>..." Rain said through Mai's mind.
Mai sat up quickly. "Not in here. It's to enclosed. You'll be rosting me!" she said with a slightly annoyed tone. She had set up fire crackers and other sort of traps. In the tunnel leading out to the lake There was a wire net That she some how got electricity hooked up to it. When someone were to cut the net, the tension in it would loosen. ?To rocks would spark togeter and send electricity through the water. But of corse it never did have an effect on Rain, she was somewhat immune to the pain it caused, actually it made ehr feel ticklish.
Mai looked up at the seiling. She noticed there was a dent. Something that looked like it could be broken. "Rain? CAn you lift me up to the top there?" she said pointing out the top of the chamber. Rain nodded. "Of coarse I can," she said through Mai's mind. Mai walked over towards where Rain was. Rain lowered her head to allow Mai on. Rain lifted Mai up to the top of the chamber. She banged on the stone, squinting her eyes so nothing fell into them.
After banging a couple times there was light coming from the top of where se was banging. A couple more bangs from Rain and the hold crumbled a little bit. Leaving a space for the dragon and Mai to get out. Ity lead to the ver, very to of the mountain. To the beautiful greenery of the trees and bushes. There was water faling into another part of a lake. She gasped as it felt, and looked so wonderful. "Mai!" Rain screamed through her mind. She clasped her ears. "Not so loud," she hissed. "Theer are other people here," Rain said. Only Rains head was sticking out of the hole. She couldn't be seen with all the greenery. It was like a forest up at the top. No one would be able to see them from the bottem.
Mai growled. "Then where do we hide? Are they all the way at the bottem of this mountain placde. I think will be safe if they are. The'l;l never be able to get us if they do. Plus, if you can breath fire. We have a weapon. Along with the tale of yours. Very deadly." she said it with a sigh. she also wanted to see if her dragon would breath fire. She liked watching her dragon perform the stuff it could. "Can you make a small breath of fire? Try breathing fire down onto the ground. It looks as if were in the middle of this forest. It shouldn't be seen if you do it very close to the ground," Mai said.
The dragon noded. Rain wasn't to sure if she could do it. But she was going to try. Mai didn't know how to prepare her dragon. It may be just something that was natural maby. The dragon let out a smal breath. And small flames came from it. Mai gave a triumphant small laugh. Only loud enough to be seen from her dragon. She had everything planed If they attacked them. She would set fire crackers out. It was the perfect plan. She set out to do her work. Leaving strings leading to fire crackers. and then to the middle. They were surronded by many of fire cracker. Now if they attacked them. They would be safe from harm.
"This will be awesome. I'm almost hoping they do attack," she said quietly in a pleased tone. "And what if they do attack. And this delays them. Where do we go next? Rain asked. Mai frowned she didn't think about that. "Well you can fly can't you I've rode on you once before and we did it quite well," Mai said. "well we can go to Carvall. ut even so, you would ned to stay in the forest. Even that would be to dnajrous. I've sen a large deep river in there though. Yu could hide in there. and I'll always bring you food," Mai said. Rain nodded. Then should we have all are stuff moved from there?"Rain asked pointing into the cavern they had been living in. Mai noded. "That would be are best interet," Mai said.
Byt the time Mai had hauled everything out of the cavern. Including the fire wood. It had been an hour. She had left no traces of anything of hers in there. Everything was as befoer. But she left the traps though and made more around the hole they had come out of. They were prepared fr any attack. Mai had been bored in the cave so she started making a large pack for Rain. She had set it over her back for more comfortable riding and so everything could be stored. Rain had it on right now and was ready to leave at will. The firewood that they had before, Mai set it also around them. They had enough room to escape. Th wood would catch fire and surrond the with fire. Then they could fly straight up and leave. After that, she didn't know what she would do...
Darsa and his men moved along the forest. The forest was becoming to dense from him to ride so he dismounted and spoke, "Fan out...look everywhere! Aim for the heart of the dragon if it attacks you. If you can't go for the girl. If the rider dies the dragon follows!"
The men nodded and moved out as Darsa went straight ahead. After about an hour of searching her knelt to the ground studying a print in the mud, "What do we have here." The print had long since been distorted by the forest and wheather. Darsa snarled that the lost but grinned, "Círdan Tur-anion"
The print suddenly deepen and took form and Darsa reared back from his knelt position and scan his surrounding wildily. A dragon foot print he was sure of it. Once making sure he was alone when back to studying the print.
"Very young...barely rideable, you be able to breath fire soon hatchling."
Darsa rose took off in the direction of the dragon footprint. This was too easy!
Mai sat in the middle on her dragon in the middle of all the traps. She thought this was way to easy. She had so many traps set up. All of which were fire related. she couldn't help but think that she would be ruining the climate of the frest she was at. Btu she new she needed to get away if she had to. And she didn't want to leave if she didn't have to. If she left just like that. With out the help of any fire or traps. She would be able to blind the enemy for a safe escape.
she was no bored. She was getting tired of waiting for the emey to show up. She didn't want to take the traps down either. It took to long to put them back up. It was now time for them to come. Because she was getting bored. But she still had to wonder. She needed a place to go. And she needed help for magic. she learned that she would be able to learn magic from certain people, but who were they and where did thy live? This puzzled her and she didn't know what to do. She sighed. "Hurry up already!" she complained.
Darsa couldn't help but too chuckled at the girls boredom. He had been watching her for a pass few minutes and studying the terrain around her.
"Prepared are we..."
He looked down at his men and move his hand infront him in a command for them move. All twenty of his men suddenly came of the foresty and into the small clearing hollering and yelling. Sadly Darsa had not informed them of what at the girl had set up them.
"Let them herd the girl and her pet around," laughed Darsa as he ran his tongue acrossed his fanged teeth. It was time to see just what the dragon riders were capable of doing.
"This is just to much fun!"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2008 4:19 pm
"Rain!" she wispered enough for the dragon to hear. Rain id not do anything. "Rain? she asked quietly again. Rain was studying around them. Sure there were the men that were coming at them. But she spotted the other. "We would best to be out of ere, Rain hissed. Mai sighed. "That was the plan, wasn't it?" she asked her secretly. "Just use the ire for a deversion. then we'll leave she said quickly.
Mai was reckless and stuborn. She didn't think aabout much of plans. But she did know. With all the firecrackrs and wood she set up. The smoke would well caarry on for miles. The firecrackers carried up into te tops of the trees. So once one was lit. the others would follow. Rain bretathed just a small bit of fire first, just to scare the people whom were there. But as she took in breath she let out a large set of fire and everything ignited in front and aorund them. The fire reached over 300 feat high. And the fire crackers and all the traps went as 500 feet in distance.
The dragon took flight. the fire had ignited just around tem and they took flight. High into the sky and into the clouds. Mai held her breath slightly. She couldn't stay in the clouds for to long. Her dragon was flying fast. But was it fastenough?
"So it can breath fire..."
Darsa jumped down from his hiddening spot and pressed foward after the dragon. He took a deep breath and slowly released it, "Skolir." A sheild of white formed around him as he walked pasted the triggered traps unharmed.
It was time to teach the girl her lesson in respecting her elders. Darsa broke out into a run keeping up easily with scaled beast. When it landed Darsa would be their give his speical welcome. He could easily ground the dragon by the king did order him to bring it alive after all.
