I was going to take Japanese this fall, but I had to defer a semester... so now I have to wait again maybe in Spring 2006 or Fall 2006 (I hope it's spring)... stressed But anyway, About.com has a pretty nice Japanese language section. The lady who does it is named Namiko Abe, and it's pretty easy to understand and remember. http://japanese.about.com/
"Haijime mashite > My name is " Whoa, I have never seen that before. I'm going to ask my friends from Japan about that. One of my friends, an older woman from Tokyo, told me to just say " your name desu" - it is the typical way to introduce yourself in Tokyo. The actual phrase is "Watashi no namae wa your name " or for girls informally, "Watashi wa your name desu", but those are longer to say. And when you say "desu" it's not deh-su, it's like "des."
Mm, a word used a lot in Naruto is baka. I think that's a word known by a lot of non-Japanese people - "baka" is basically fool, idiot, moron, or any other similar word.
My friend, the older woman from Tokyo, has volunteered to help with basic Japanese until I can start classes, so if we meet, I'll be sure to post any advice she gives me here.

Well, coming from Turtle's "wonderful" brain, I think it's like those math multiplication charts. Like you want a Ka sound you put a finger on K and a finger on A and move to where they meet, there is your kana I think then again this is only a guess so please don't hurt me if I'm wrong

Yup, this is the type of thing I only figure out when I haven't slept for at least a day and have weird flashbacks to elementary skewl days.

I am learning Japanese at the moment, and I can read and write in both Hiragana and Katagana... but Romaji is a different story... I bought some Japanese Manga to read (as in it's actualy in Japanese) and luckily, all the Romaji letters have katagana/Hiragana symbals next to them so you know what it says... but normaly, Romaji is used like 50% of the time, but I can't find out how to learn it... I can't find a site with the letters or anything... Anybody know where you can get some Romaji charts or something?

Here's an online translator if anyone's interested. Don't know how accurate it is though.
