A Murder of Angels Captain

Inspired by Chaotic Puppet's last thread (EVOLUTION = FALSE or...), I've decided to make a general thread for religious parody. Post any bits of religious parody that you want, but keep in mind, making fun of Christians has been done to death. Let's see something new. Also, when I say parody, I'm talking about something that makes fun of another religion in a light hearted manner. Websites that blatantly slanderize and try to destroy other religions will not be tolerated in my thread. ~*~*~*~ This article was originally posted on the website for The Onion, but is no longer there. It can still be found here: Scientology Losing Ground to New FictionologyQuote: "Sure, it's total bullshit," Jurgenson added. "But that's Fictionology. Praise Batman!"

You know... often times such humor is an excuse to justify bigotry, I'm sorry. Somehow humor makes what would normally be a bitogted statement tolerated. So... yeah. Just thought I'd mention that.

Starlock You know... often times such humor is an excuse to justify bigotry, I'm sorry. Somehow humor makes what would normally be a bitogted statement tolerated. So... yeah. Just thought I'd mention that. I could not agree with you less. If you haven't noticed, I posted four links to pages of Pagan jokes. Personally, as a Pagan, I find them hilarious. In fact, most of the jokes, I wouldn't even understand if I weren't a Pagan. My intention is simply to share a few laughs. It bothers me when people take certain things too seriously, expecially religion. That's not to say religion is one big joke, but people who learn to laugh at themselves also seem to grow more dedicated to their beliefs.. Could it be because humour makes religion fun?~*~*~ "Anyone who takes himself too seriously always runs the risk of looking ridiculous; anyone who can consistently laugh at himself does not." -Vaclav Havel "We should be proud of who we are. Then we can laugh at ourselves. Being natural, being yourself goes right to the heart of humor." -Willard Scott "The person who has a sense of humor is not just more relaxed in the face of a potentially stressful situation, but is more flexible in his approach." -John Morreall

Hmm...does the first few lines of Mountain Kind, by MC Fronalot count as parody? Technically, it's "Judaism" that he messes around with, not Christianity. wink

Just thought I'd mention that. yeah, in some cases that is true. but then you get people who like it cuz its funny. i mean, i tell jokes that make fun of anything you can imagine. religion, racial backgrounds, animals, stupid criminals, whatever. as long as its funny. if it is meant to be harmful, and is obviously such, i wont say it.

Starlock You know... often times such humor is an excuse to justify bigotry, I'm sorry. Somehow humor makes what would normally be a bitogted statement tolerated. So... yeah. Just thought I'd mention that. That is true, but it also depends on the person and how they interperate it.
For instance a racist joke could be seen as funny or sick and wrong. Same goes for dead baby jokes. The jokes don't make killing babies ok or racism right, but they do help people take a more light hearted approach to a heavy subject. And yes, approaching a subject not so seriously helps someone think more objectively about it than emotionally and see both sides to an issue.
Now, that's not to say we're going to tolerate someone telling a rude joke about something in a thread on that subject. (ie: joke making fun of pagans in a pagan thread). That would be spiteful and mean.
But as long as this type of thing has its own thread, its not targetting anyone and its not mean, spiteful, or offensive. If someone does see it as that...well, simply don't click the links to the jokes. But as of right now, you do have the choice whether you look at the jokes or not.
I don't want to see this type of stuff being carried to non-joke threads though. That will offend other people, and it will get you smited by yours truley.

Those are the only type of jokes she tells, and they are so...corny and...punny. gonk whee whee (laughs) I like them because it requires a command of the language. Sittuational irony is also a thing I enjoy. Other forms of humor can be amusing, like the stuff people have posted here, but sometimes it's a bit off-color.

Eh, puns are ok...
They are, by no means, as good as irony, sarcasm, and satire...
Me loves me some satire.

I know we're not supposed to do religious parodies on Christianity, but this page, which I don't have the link for xd , almost made me fall off my chair. Google Search: The Brick testament. You know you have it when you see LEGO characters.
