Question: I hear that the strike is over! Is it true?— Danouk Ausiello: Nothing’s official, but the buzz is that a tentative agreement has been reached, with an announcement coming as early as tomorrow. But it’s hard to tell what’s solid intel and what’s just spin. To wit: In the past 24 hours, one source close to the negotiations insisted that talk of a resolution was way premature. “There’s no deal,” maintained my spy. “That’s just misinformation put out by the AMPTP to pressure the WGA.” But moments before I put this column to bed, I heard from another very plugged-in source that the deal is done. Short story shorter: There’s cause for optimism, but not celebration. Yet.
Question: If the strike ends in the next week or so, can the current TV season be salvaged? — Donald Ausiello: Depends on the network and the show. A source at one of the Big 4 tells me that should the strike end by mid-February, one best-case scenario being bandied about has established series going back into production and working through June, making more episodes for this season and some for next. Then they’ll take a summer break before starting regular production on next season. The reason for this is twofold: They don’t want to bail out on this season, but they also don’t want to go to the expense of putting shows back into production for just two or three episodes. One industry observer describes this as “a smart plan,” while acknowledging that there’s another variable in all this: the actors. “The trouble is, a lot of actors schedule hiatus movies, or just elaborate vacations. And if they ask them to work through certain dates, that could trigger some contract issues.”

This would be a good place to keep updates on the strike until it is over.

By the end of this week a decision will be made as to wheather the offer is good or not. By what I've heard, it's good enough to stop the strike at the end of this week!

That's awesome! Do you have any links to the site you found the information at. Because it will be likely that they give us the answer at the end of the week at the same source.

UPDATE!! Despite numerous reports that the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television producers have reached an agreement and are currently hammering out the wording, the Screen Actors Guild on Wednesday urged its members to show up in force at the Walt Disney Studios today (Thursday) "to let management know that we stand firmly with our brothers and sisters at the WGA." Meanwhile, Sid Ganis, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, repeated his plea to leaders of the WGA to allow preparation for the Oscars to go forward. In an interview with Daily Variety, Ganis noted that the show involves complicated production numbers and making travel arrangements for presenters and nominees. "I'm nervous," he told the trade publication. "We're getting down to the final moments; we need to make plans." The 80th Annual Academy Awards telecast is scheduled to take place on February 24.

There were times during the past three months when we never thought we’d say it, but… the WGA strike is officially over. According to the WGA websites, members voted by 92.5 percent to lift the strike order that was enacted Nov. 5.
According to all reports, the writers are back to work, as early as today!!
So, what does this mean for House fans? Here’s what TVGuide says:
House Expected to shoot 4 to 6 new episodes to air in April/May.
Be sure to check back because I’ll be posting the latest news, as it’s released! Now let’s all go celebrate! smile

*runs off jumping* Woohoo! Finally it's over x33 I hope Hugh got some vacation time with his family during the three month strike. It would have been a good time to go see his family for awhile while he was not working.

Wohoo! It's over! But by the looks of it this show isn't popular enough to start next month. We'll probably have to wait until April or (God fobid) September for new episodes. Only the really popular shows like 24, Grey's Anatomy and a bunch of NBC shows will start right away.

Only the really popular shows like 24, Grey's Anatomy and a bunch of NBC shows will start right away. That's strange. When they announced the writers strike progress and how it was predicted to end this Wednesday, they showed clips of 24 and House..I doubt that House is less popular then Greys Anatomy when they only showed clips of House and 24 on the news. But that was on FOX news, so. But I still doubt it's less popular...maybe the writers will need more time or the actors need to all get back together or something. Or it could be the company's style that when they come back, they have lots of episodes made under their belt before they start airing...they did that by missing December when other shows either ran out of episodes by then or just rushed through them. Seems House takes their time before they air. But this is my opinion, maybe House is less popular then I think...but I doubt it's that unpopular, it mainly seems that it's just the company's style on how they air the show.

its not about popularity so much as house has no episodes left, and because of the strike the producers had to scrap every idea they had so they basically set up something and now they can't go through it. Also a lot of shows are starting late or like 24 which is waiting until Jan 2009 to start but basically it has to do with the writers coming back writing episodes, getting the actors back (some went off to do other things besides sit around), and then theres post production. And i'm assuming they're going make more than one episode before they start airing episodes. Sort of like a buffer in case something happens and they don't finish an episode every week.
