Okay this is something that has been bugging me...what is JKRS fascination on flower names? Lily, Petunia, Pansy, and spoiler in white Rose! Also Mrs.Fig, and Professor Sprout, all share names that have to do with vegetation!

Well, Mrs. Rowling usually has reasons behind names, weather they be puns, or accurate descriptions of their personality.
I think Professor Sprout is a suitable name...

I can explain them all to you since you're interested.
Lily is the only one I have to guess at. Lillies are white, so they're pure, and judging by the unreasonable amount of people that were supposedly in love with her (Remus loved Sirius no matter what JKR says.) that's probably why it's her name. JKR might've just picked it because she liked the name, and then selected Petunia so the sisters would both have flower names. No matter what the reason, I think Lily and James sound nice together.
Narcissa comes from Narcissus, who was a vain god.
Sprout is because she teaches Herbology.
Pansy is sometimes used as an insult to indicate that someone is weak.
Figg is described as "a batty old lady" and the sound of her name reflects that. When asked about the name Dursley JKR said, "I think it sounds boring and forbidding, don't you?" Like Charles Dickens, she sometimes chooses names so the sound indicates the personality.

That happens. I do random things like this, and then I get so busy that I forget I posted at all. Or I'll post one thing and I thought I posted another. It's really frustrating sometimes to tell you the truth.

fourtysecondscarf Well, Mrs. Rowling usually has reasons behind names, weather they be puns, or accurate descriptions of their personality. I think Professor Sprout is a suitable name... As has already been stated J.K.Rowling usually always has some reason why she choose the names, but still good for you for even picking up on that connection.
