Okay I was reading acouple threads and I have to say I'm overly disgusted by them. No I'm not going to leave. Instead I'm going to create a guide to respecting others. That way the discussions will be more civil and it could possibly end or possibly lower the level of ignorance that I have observed. Think of it as your 2-step program to accepting others and respecting them as equals. Enjoy.

Step 1: Respecting Other People's Religion

Most of us I'm guessing living in the America and all know the wonderful little First Amendment. Everyone knows what Freedom of Religion is right? Basically it gives us the right to believe in whatever we want. That means people can be Buddhist, Wiccan, Satanist, Atheist, etc. without being persecuted against. Unfortunately Christians and the many denominations of Christianity have been known for bashing those who do not believe in the same religion and claiming that theirs is superior etc. Now it is their choice to believe in what they want. If they want to worship Satan let them. Why? It's their choice. If we didn't have this then it would be nothing more than brainwashing and holding people against their will. Remember to be courteous of others and treat them how you would want to be treated. Would you rather someone calling you a bible bouncing freak who has no free will. Of course not.

Step 2: Respecting Other People's Sexuality

Okay we all know that in the bible somewhere it says that homosexuality is a sin. And that gays are evil. I'm sorry but that my friends is a misinterpretation. If God created us he intended for gays to be on earth. Why? Because he loves us all equally and wanted to put gays on the Earth to be loved by everyone despite what it might read in the Bible. Gays should be loved and treated like everyone else, they are our equals. Scientifically speaking we are all bi because each of us needs testosterone and estrogen to survive. We just produce more than the other and vice versa. If you know people who are gay be nice and courteous to them and treat them how you would want to be treated.

Now Take a few moments and imagine yourself in their shoes. Think about all the things that you have said either towards them or otherwise. Think about how you would feel if you were them. Take a few minutes and visualize the pain and sorrow of being called those things and being treated harshly.

Hopefully with this short guide you will realize how important it is to respect others and this will help you in both Gaia and the real world. If not then I have failed you or you chose not to view this guide and take it seriously. If it's the latter then you should be ashamed of yourself. Hating is a sin.

In my opinon and I'm not trying to offend but being gay is a sin and I don't think (although God thinks differently) God had any intention of people being gay. It clearly talks about that topic in Romans I believe Chapter 1 or 2. But I do agree that we should treat them with respect none the less and love them the same. My friend put it this way," I don't hate gays, I hate the sin, but I love them the same.

I found some extra literature that can help people understand gays a little better. Read the whole article and answer the questions at the end. Please post them here and don't PM them to me..I don't want my inbox to be cluttered. I will also create a couple tests too. Just to see what people think since There hasn't been much feedback..

The feedback is that anyone can read the Word of the Living God and see that it's sin.

Lying is also sin.

"ALL wrong doing is sin."

I am smart enough and have enough common sense to know that the words I read mean what they say.

If you're going to condone homosexuality, please condone rape, murder and lying.

I grow weary of people trying to condone their way of life. If you feel the way you do, then fine...nobody here is going to change the way you think or what you believe. Understand the same holds true for those of us who do our best everyday not to embrace our evils and embrace our sins.

I refuse to be caught into a trap of condoning a wrong lifestyle, and yes I lived as a gay person for years and years and I will still unhappy. I thought why am I so unfulfilled.

Don't try to "teach" something you don't understand.

Live in your sins, but don't attempt to justify it and pawn it off on others who are trying to do the right thing.

perhaps you missed this part

right and wrong do not exist
what we define culturally as right and wrong do exist
we only define what is right or wrong so we can understand the world around us and we can only define such words by defining what is not right or what is not wrong

to repeat the lesson on respect please read the above posts again

Actually it seems to me that you are the one who doesn't understand. There is a reason as to why I created this thread. It's to teach people like you to respect others no matter what some ancient book says.

You say that it's okay for me to think the way I do. And you say you can't change it. Seems to me that you're sontradicting yourself. You're trying to make me feel guilty.

I never once said that I was bi or lesbian. Leave your idiotic assumptions at the door.

People like you make me want to revoke my beliefs and cast God aside. It also makes me wonder if humanity is actually worth saving.

I don't think he was referring to your sexuality but rather your take on civil rights

however, he seems hopelessly lost
perhaps one day he will see the error of his ways

the Ancient Book u r referring to is the Bible correct? That is the Book that Christians use to try and live life by. It clearly states that homosexuality is wrong/inappropriate/a sin. As young Christians it is often hard to determine how strictly we should follow those writings/teachings, as the Bible does at times confuse us. To tell us to love everyone often leads to misinterpetation: Love the individual, however help them to correct the inappropriate behavior is what is meant as I translate it. Then u have the problem that arises as some will say that I believe I'm better than others. That is also misconception as we all sin daily, but we must remember as the origional thread was "repect others", how strictly each of us follows that Ancient Book is up to us and should be respected by all. Discussion is good as it brings about different ideas/thoughts/interpretations and helps us grow.

Technically the bible is only a few hundred years old at best if all your counting are the books the vast majority of Christians are reading (king James)

Technically the Bible is different ages. The oldest texts have been found to be about 1500-2100 years for the New Testament and about 3000-4000 years. It can be looked up very quickly. And that is the oldest texts.

How did you come to the conclusion that the Bible was only a few hundred years old? Just curious...
