So these were the Kawani lands, lands in which is supposed heir had fled ue to weakness. A complete failure, it was one of those rare moments when this particular individual blamed himself. It had been his lack of presence that had caused such a creature to develop into what it was now. Of course, said individual was aware that had his glorious presence been felt then his heir would have been a fine specimen but alas...
The one time in which he had taken the advice of his consort had resulted in this little mess. A mess which he had, for many years, sworn to tidy up and to restore to some sense of order and glory. Unfortunately, nothing had gone to plan and thhis individual couldn't help but chuckle at the irony. The one time he had not taken immediate control everything had gone to pot and it was only now, having forceably extracted the information from the pitiful herd in which his heir had been born that he had discovered the whereabouts of what should have been his 'son'.
Unfortunately, it was with great disappointment that he discovered that the territory chosen by his heir was not particularly pretty at all. Ever hard to impress, the black stallion could only cast a glowing eye upon the Kawani lands with disdain. Ignorant to what true 'beaut' was, he cast aside the impressive mount ranges and the beauty of mother nature herself in favour of something he deemed to be more substantial. These lands would have to PROVE their beauty by providing him with fine possessions, something that many locations had failed to do.
It was with a ruffle of his ethereal wings that he at last drew to a halt upon the smll hillock and observed the plains. Evidently a highly social place given the amount of soquili present and conversing but still not what he sought. He was curious though - he had come for a reason but he was still a curious beast by nature. To what extent was his heir's name known and if it wasn't known then why had such a disappointment allowed this to remain so?
Shaking out his great mane, the tall stallion canned his surroundings for an individual whowas not huddled in the middle of a conversation. More often than not it was significantly easier to toy with and to manipulate those who did not have a companion for support the moment they began to doubt or wane...

Melody: She hummed happily to herself as she left the edge of the forest and moved on into the plains. She couldn't stand silence for very long without breaking into a song or atleast humming, being the musical soquili she was.
She stopped in the middle of the large area and scanned for a familiar face but was disappointed upon seeing none. Instead of simply leaving however, she decided to stay and look around a bit longer. Besides, there might be someone or a group of soquili that would be interesting to talk with.
She smiled and looked curiously around at everyone, thinking of who to approach and have a chat with. There were actually quite a few soquili here today. She got distracted from this task however by her sudden idea for a new song. She moved a little away from the general crowd, eyes sparkling, to sit in a more quiet area to ponder this idea. She had already quite forgotten about the other soquili.

Ah, tranquility in it's purest form was something he savoured - however he only chose to embrace such a thing when it benefitted him and at present he was far from tranquil. Thus, it was on this occasion that he craved Chaos - master over such a mood, he thrived in that environment given that so many of those around him were suseptible to his suggestions during such times. It brought a smile to his lips, though the expression was largely hollow given the lack of feeling or genuinity beneath it.
Flicking his tail idly against his thigh, he scarcely reacted as the sharpened arrows ound to the strands flexed against his thigh. Then again, they would do very little given the armour lining the area of impact. Perhaps this was what he didn't like about the Kawani lands - the lands were ugly, there was nothing pretty to claim and more to the point...
Before he had time to fully complete the thought running through his head his glowing eyes caught sight of a very pink mare. While not his type per-se, the very fact that she was singled out and away from the Soquili of the meadows made her all the more desirable. Not as a conquest, but more so as a target for his questioning and perhaps a victim at a later date if she proved herself useful.
Thrusting a more pleasant smile onto his face, he began to make his way towards the mare, partially disregarding her hummng though he would use that to his advantage in due course.
"Quite the little song bird, do I see..." he mused gently.

Melody did not notice him approach, as she was too deep in her own thoughts. She could at times be rather serious when it came to her music, especially when it involved any fresh ideas. So when he addressed her she was rather surprised, abruptly snapping out of her thoughts when hearing the unfamiliar voice…
She stopped her humming and curiously turned to look at him. Being confident as she was, she had no problem openly staring at him. This was simply as she wondered what it was that he wanted and out of curiosity as to who he actually was. Though perhaps that was unfair, he probably was just being social like most soquili around here were. She herself had been planning on chatting to someone only moments ago.
Genuinely she smiled at his comment, enjoying talking about music and in particular her own. “Yes I’m a singer. Just thinking of a new song.” She nodded, vaguely noticing a fierce air behind the smile of the one standing before her, but choosing to ignore it. Some had seemed fierce in the past yet had turned out to be quite the opposite. Either way, she had never feared another soquili before. Though Melody herself of course did not look anything close to intimidating, she knew how to stand up for herself when needed.
After answering him, she glanced up at his large wings with interest and before forgetting she further added."I'm Melody by the way and you are?"

It seemed like a tiny piece of him died each time that question was asked. It wasn't strictly true, he was over exagerating in that regard but the very fact that some did not know who he was irritated him. He was after all the mighty chaos - the father of what should have been an heir capable of dominating lands in his absence. But alas, this was the Kawani lands and his failed spawned resided here - it was unsurprising that the rest of the civilians would be failures too.
Nevertheless, he would grant this particular mare solace with the 'hope' that she would make an off comment and spread the word of his arrival at a later date. If he found her to fail in this then he would simply have to return to her company and punish her accordingly. Really, it was quite simple in his opinion. Spread the word, allow his name to become infamous and you would be spared.
...Just like every faithful peasant he had.
"Kiyoshi Yukio," his voice scarcely audible, he had always strived to make another struggle to hear him. In forcing them to strain, they took the first step to becoming is lesser and otherwise empowered he could quite possibly become more amicable. "However if one is a singer, is it not more logical to converse with song birds in relation to your ideas...?" He had his voice, could sing if necessary but preferred to keep such smooth and sultry tones hidden until it was necessary to seduce the unsuspecting.
...A quiet rasp after all, followed by the revelation of a fine voice won even the most stubborn over.

Melody: Her ears twitched and she wondered if he was in fact annoyed about something. She had to strain just to hear what he was saying. She almost missed his name altogether, lucky she had fairly good hearing. "Kiyoshi was it?" Nodding yet at the same time was rather puzzled by his tone.
She smiled lightly at his last comment. "I'm afraid logic and music don't always see eye to eye." She gazed around the plains as if pondering something else and simply stated in regards to music. "These lands offer much inspiration."
Looking back at the other soquili, she decided it was only fair to ask him what he liked to do. "I sing yes, is there something in particular you do or enjoy?"

There were many things this particular male enjoyed but he was far less inclined to elaborate on them atthis precise moment in time. Perhaps at a later date his hobbies would become clear but for the time being he was fairly content to seem otherwise approachable and amicable. Tat being said, he couldn't afford to sound boring, incapable of occupying himself in constructive ways and thus he opted to touch briefly upon the truth. It was hardly a lie, he was simply being vague.
"One might say we are inclined towards the same things," the smile continued to line his lips and he flicked his tail idly against his flag. Ah yes, a fine singing voice he had indeed but not one that he used for the entertainment of another. It was just another tool, yet in his performances he found his own sadistic pleasure that few could completely understand. Then again, he rarely asked anyone to understand his motives...they just did as they were told.
"I too have an appreciation for music though I would have to disagree with your statement - logic and song rarely conflict when I encounter them." Though his words werevague, his rasping tone darkened considerably and he fought back the urge to chuckle. He couldn't afford to chase her away yet, he needed her firmly in his grasp before he could play that card!
"Might I ask what you draw inspiration from...?" It was an honest question for he had yet to find anything that so much as impressed him in these lands, let alone to inspire him.

Melody: She listened quietly as he spoke, not interrupting, trying to get a general idea of the personaility behind the name.
She gave a small grin as he finished talking. "So you enjoy music or appreciate it as you say. Though, I think I'd be rather shocked if I ever met someone that hated music." Even her own familiar, who was nearly always either grumpy or roud, enjoyed the odd pirate chant.
It wasn't the first time she had been asked the last particular question but she enjoyed answering it anyway. "I draw inspiration from many different things. Though even one simple thing can be enough to inspire part of a song or more." She watched him to see if he was following. "I draw inspiration from the land that surrounds us, it holds much beauty and wonder. I could name specific things about the land, but I don't think words really can describe it exactly." She paused then continued. "Further I draw inspiration from my own lessons, events, emotions, stories and even other soquili." She didn't go into detail with the last part, as it was rather personal, but all he had asked anyway was the question of what inspired her and she had answered. "I'm sure everyone draws inspiration from atleast some of these things." She added with a wave of her hoof.
"With wings like those I'm sure you've seen many great things. I mean you could go pretty much anywhere."

Her assumption was accurate, he could go anywhere he desired and he had done so. His great wing span cared for and yet abused in the finest way. Ethereal by nature, their translucent surface had mesmerised all those little treasures he wanted most and in doing so he had claimed the. Imprisoned in some form or another, they were his to admire for as long as he desired.
However, as she spoke further of what inspired her he fought hard against the urge to raise his eyes heavenwards. Largely unimpressed with her explanation - one of which he had heard time and time again - his inner self simply looked towards the petite female in disdain. She claimed to create music, so why was it that she was not creative with her explanations? Really the answer was simple but the stallion had never looked in the most clear and logical manner - she had said it herself...No words could express the beauty that presented itself to her.
Unfortunately, he didn't see that beauty. Insteaad, he saw a worthless and barren land.
"Perhaps I could request an example of such things?" He enquired softly.

Melody: Surprise was etched across her face but only for a brief moment. She was not expecting him to have further questions on the subject. Perhaps she had not gone into the greatest amount of detail, but she thought her answer was rather perfect none the less. It wasn't so much a bad question he had asked, just unexpected.
She wasn't about to announce stupidly that she couldn't answer such a question and instead replied. "I will give an example, but don't say I didn't warn you when it turns out to be disappointing." She gave a light chuckle, finding it all suddenly rather amusing. "You know, I did once draw inspiration from a clump of dirt that looked rather like a smiley face." She couldn't resist saying something ridiculous and false, she was a terrible liar however so anyone would know she was joking.
"Perhaps you were looking for a more serious answer? In regards to the land, during my explorations I entered the strange silence provided only by the deepest part of the forest. Not even the trees rustled there and no bird could be heard." She nodded. "It seems ironic to be inspired by technically nothing. Anyone can be inspired by anything if they take an interest or atleast don't simply give up, so I believe."

Inspired by nothing...
Ah, perhaps he had heard that wrong or perhaps in her naivity she had mistaken that 'nothingness' for potential. While she may have heard nothing, she detected potential and that was what she had been inspired by. He wasn't about to correct her, frankly he couldn't be bothered to waste that much breath but he did allow her to continue with her little tale before a doubtful smirk flickered onto his lips.
A clump of dirt eh?
...That would be the majority of this barren land then, wouldn't it?
Relasing a small snort, he shook his head as though to dismiss her idle (and clueless) chatter from his mind before continuing. Long bangs railing down over his eyes in a somewhat haunting fashion, he peered through the strands towards the mare as though assessing her worth. It was one of those moments when he decided whetehr to humour further or to cut to the chase and interrogate.
"Sing for me."
Evidently, she had to prove herself. Ah he was in such a generous mood this afternoon!

Melody: What a waste of time that was, she thought to herself getting rather annoyed. He didn't have anything to comment at all about it... This was not what truly bothered her however. It was more the fact that he had snorted at her and she frankly did not like the way he was looking at her. She could sense some bad vibes and though she rarely denyed anyone wanting to hear her sing, she was currently in no mood. "It'll have to be some other time I'm afraid. My singing voice is currently not at it's best." She feigned a disappointed sigh and shook her head. "Overwork mixed with sore throats, not a good mix."

Another failure.
Kiyoshi's expression clouded considerably at this otherwise questionnable excuse and the smile vanished from his lips. For one who had only moments ago, chosen to hum to herself, he found it difficult to believe that she had suddenly lost her voice. If there was one thing Kiyoshi would not permit it was individuals who thought they could lie to him. To another (for his benefit) then it was fine...but never to him.
Another failure, she had failed him.
Once again the Kawani lands brought disappointment to him and with a now granite like expression on his features he released a dark chuckle. Eyes seeming to intensify in their glow he ruffled his ethereal wings ever so slightly and drew nearer the mare. "Allow me to make myself somewhat clearer for you," he purred delicately, ensuring his voice remained low to avoid attracting attention. After all, with his back turned to the crowds it was only she who could see the hostility developing on his features.
"I do not wait for anything - you have no choice but to sing."

Melody: She frowned at his answer. She was beginning to think worse of him by the second. Perhaps he knew she had lied, fair enough. She had been honest however in saying her singing voice was not at it's best. It certainly wasn't going to be when she was getting more and more angry. Usually other soquili requested politely for her to sing, not demanded. They also did not glare at her and treat her like she was a piece of rubbish.
Being rather proud as she was, she wasn't about to give in. "Did you not just hear a word I said? I'm not singing." She replied some what coldly. She didn't particularly want to get on his bad side but she certainly was not going to sing. She wasn't a lesser to anybody and was prepared to tell him such if he continued.

Was she stupid?
Clearly, he could do nothing more than release a roar of laughter at her response. Unfurling his wings, he beat them against his sides to release the tension within the muscles and simply shook his head. A slow motions, one that caused the black stands of hair to coil around his horns and to mask his eyes in a rather haunting expression. To him, the thought of one refusing to do his bidding was laughable - not in an entertaining manner but simply because it gave him leave to do whatever he wanted...
"Are you a fool, girl?" he enquired darkly, his rasping voice now fully audible. Evidently one capable of adapting his voice to the situation, it was clear that in reality his voice was as he presented it now. Deep, smooth and filled with the power that only an extreme amount of self confidence could bring. A master of deception, he had honed the art of having many facets and forms. He could be amicable but when they refused him it was an entirely different matter.
"You assume I am afraid to act in a public forum?" Shaking his head again the stallion thrust his muzzle forward once again and snorted hotly upon the mare's nose to make his point, "On the contrary, I prefer an audience..." he purred, flicking his tail abruptly to slice the spiked arrows tied to the strands towards his flank. They clanged loudly against the armour upon his legs but highlighted that he used such things as a part of is arsenal of weapons.
"I give you one more chance, sing or I will make you sing in a much more...alternate style."
