So... I have a small problem here. I finished sewing a shirt, but the neckline is too low, and too revealing.
Any ideas for what to put there?
(If this belongs in the sewing sub-forum, feel free to move it. I just wanted to get a wider range of replies, and felt that not many people frequented the sewing forum.)

I was considering a white collar, like some of Mary Magdalene's dress designs. I don't want any bright colors, since most of my clothes are Classical.

Also, any accents or things you think would look good? Ribbon or trims?

Thanks so much~

I think it might be cute to add a removable ruffle or lace panel to span the neckline and raise it some sort of how it looks in a rococo-styled neckline? It would keep the square shape, but let you retain modesty in a cute fashion.

I agree with sputino.
Other than that, I'm not sure if it's the sleeves and the neckline that makes it look like it, but the top looks big on you.

Amani~

It does look big, doesn't it? *laughs*
That's only half the camera's fault.
Er. One of the buttons was too low, and was making the fabric fold over funny, making it look big and me look fat. XDD
Also, it's too long- I haven't hemmed it yet.
aaaaand I've taken it in at the sides since the picture was taken~

Spuntino~

Do you mean adding lace to only the bottom? Or all along the neckline? And what sort of lace would you sugguest?

Thanks for the help!

That's probably it, that you haven't hemmed it. xD

I mean, sort of in the style of a fichu, so.

Kind of how these are:

OP - The lace that's inside the neckline, not trimming the edge.
Cutsew - Same thing here, but a BIT more similar to what you've made in terms of the cut, I guess.
JSK - Best example of what I mean, but still not quite right--see how the part at the bust can be removed?

Just either a panel with lace that you can take out, so you can wear a blouse underneath, or ruffles or lace for modesty's sake.
