What's your favorite/least favorite names for a game/series? How come?

Final Fantasy because it's so overwhelmingly J-trash that it makes my inner-bigot cringe and vomit.

Haha

I have to agree on the FF thing. Square has some good ideas, but they really milk it when it comes to Final Fantasy. It's time they gave each one some time and actual identity, rather than put a generic, sales-assuring label on it.

Exactly, if Square wants the game to sell, then they put Final Fantasy on it...

IX would have had a wonderful identity if they didn't put it in the Final Fantasy series...

On the otherside of the field, I love the name Half-Life, and Resident Evil.

Some people might say that with Mario and Zelda, but those games are CLEARLY linked instead of taking a fresh idea and marketing it with a name.

As for likable names...Secret of Evermore is a good one. Advance Wars has come into it's own since it left the GBA, and Castlevania is a really nice name.

Half Life, I don't really connect with the name, only because Chemistry almost caused me failing last semester.

Geez, this is just about names?
*ponders*
Call of Duty and Medal of Honor are pretty lame names. So generic. The next big military shooter should just be called "Gun of Bullets."

I also hate crappy aimed-at-3-year-olds type names, like "Zack and Wiki" and "Tak and the Power of Juju." Devs should just keep "and" out of their titles. You know if Mass Effect were actually titled "Commander Shepard and the Alien Sex Romp" nobody would have bought it.... actually, I take that back...

EDIT: As for names I like... well, I like "Final Fantasy" because the name actually means something, and there is a legacy attached to the name. Few names inspire more emotional reactions, especially judging from the posts above. I'm also a big fan of the name "Fire Emblem" for the same reason, but to a lesser degree.

Well, I can't help but feel that Brawl could have better name. Not that it matters much, and it's still better than the first 2 imo. I don't even dislike it. It's just what I'm thinking about now. >.>
I second the thing about names aimed at kids.

I actually think that the name "Super Smash Bros." in general is a crappy name. There's nothing "brotherly" about the game.

They're hitting eachother. Sounds like siblings to me.

What about domestic violence? Parents abuse children. Couples abuse each other. Plus there are brothers that don't experience conflict with each other. There is also regular fighting where people get hit. Etc. etc.

We all know beating up Fox is good. It lets out the hatred for furries. Those damn furries.

So, Super Smash Essentials?

That actually sounds a little kickass. Actually, now that I think about it, Super Smash Brothers Dojo would sound better than Brawl.

"Brawl" is fine. It's basically a synonym for "Melee." "Dojo" would be retarded, and ethno-centric.

Honestly, it should just be called "Super Smash All-Stars" or something.

My list would have to be Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory (they just make you think of some hardcore, kick-a** action movie), Resident Evil (the name just gives you the chills the first time you hear it, yet it also makes you want to play it), and Contra: Hard Corps. (when you see a game that has a pun on the word "hardcore" in its title, you know it's going to be hardcore! The title suited the game perfectly).
