Alright guys, Imbolc/Lammas is coming up at the end of this week, so here's our guestbook.

Everyone who signs this guestbook will also receive 200 gold, but only if you post something Imbolc/Lammas related as well. This can be a ritual, an activity, a recipe, a picture, or just anything else you can think of.

In the February issue of the newspaper, there will be an Imbolc word search and a Lammas word search. So, when the first of the month comes around, be sure to read the paper in "The Blessed Be Newstand". You'll be able to submit your answers to these word searches all throughout February.

-----

I'd also like to inform everyone of some new updates to two of our games/contests (the guild lotto and dicey):

Our Guild lotto is now a monthly lotto. Check out the bolded parts for the new stuff!
Guild Lotto
Instructions
- post here with how many tickets you want to buy.
- send a trade for tickets x 100 gold to Lotto_Magick. (e.g. 5 tickets being 500 gold.) Any trades that are sent to anyone other than Lotto_Magick will be taken as donations, and you will not receive any tickets.
- This is now a monthly drawing, so I'll do each drawing at the first of each month.
- I'll let you know if you've won! Good luck!

Rules
- You can buy as many tickets as you want.
- The number of tickets available is infinite. - my (random number generation) decision is final.
- No correspondence will be entered into.
- If you choose to drop out of the contest, then you will not be refunded.
- I reserve the right to withdraw if the lottery fails. If this occurs, you will get your gold returned.
These rules and instructions are subject to change - so please check back often.

Prize:
There will only be two winners in this contest, as it’ll be held for only a short time.

1st = 63% of all gold
2nd = 33% of all gold
(4 % of all gold goes to the guild to keep this contest running, and host guild events like the 10k posts giveaway.)

Dicey
Dicey
Alright everyone, we've still got a Thank you letter for March 2007 that we'd really love to give away. We're not buying any new envelopes until we get rid of that one.

That being said, I've done a random number drawing between 1 and 36. The first person rolls a 6-sided dice 6 times and lands on the same number that my random number drawing landed on will be the lucky winner of this March 2007 thank you letter.

Just be sure that you've paid the 75 gold to The_Blessed_Mule before you've rolled (I know who has paid and who hasn't). You can't win if you haven't paid the gold. smile

Edit: the number is 14... start rolling everyone!

Here's a picture I found of Brigid, a goddess related to Imbolc.

User Image

Some activites you could do in your Imbolc ritual is use milk in your rituals, offer them to the gods, or do some spiritual as well as some early spring house cleaning.

Here's something I didn't know:

Quote:
Brighid's snake emerges from the womb of the Earth Mother to test the weather, (the origin of Ground Hog Day)...

This came from http://www.wicca.com/celtic/akasha/imbolclore.htm

I was just wondering if anyone else celebraes Imbolc as "valentines day" with less comercialization and more paganization XD.

Valentine's Day is based off of a Pagan festival. There will be an article about it in the February newspaper, so be sure to read it!

But I don't really think that Imbolc and Valentine's day can really be celebrated as the same thing.

And Christmas is based off a pagan holiday too but I don't celebrate that. So is every other christian holiday in the book, which are not relevant to me. XD

That would be correct. 3nodding

I don't think a lot of people know about Valentine's Day though. I only knew about it because someone wrote an article on it in the school newspaper way back when I was in jr. high. I didn't even know what Paganism really was then though.

I'll add this in as a sneak peak to the possibility of my upcoming rune classes.

There are three Elder Futhark runes that are often related to Imbolc.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Thurisaz, part of the first of the three aettir of the Elder Futhark, represents a thorn. Thurisaz is protective and defensive, and can also be agressive. The sound of Thurisaz is "th".

Isa, part of the second aett, respresents ice. It can also be intrepreted as "standstill". Isa symbolizes static existance, beauty without purpose. The sound of Isa is "EE" (as in east)

Ehwaz, part of the third aett, represents the horse. Ehwaz can symbolize an unbreakable bond being forged (one reason why Imbolc is a common time to be initiated). Ehwaz enables one to carry a task through from beginning to end as the connection (link) from one point to the next. The sound of Ehwaz is "E" (as in every)

Happy Imbolc, Northern Hemi! Imbolc is also know as Candlemas, and often celebrated with the blessing of candles. I will be joining my Druid Study Group at a local nature centerr for a Contemplative Nature Walk. We will spend some time observing the seasonal changes in nature there. It will be our way to honor the turning of the wheel.

Note to Dark Angel: please take the 200 gold and keep as a donation. I enjoy being in this guild and would like to give something back.

Happy Lammas, Southern Hemi!
