Name: Abeytu Meaning: "Green Leaf" Gender: Female Age: Early to mid-sixties
Appearance: Abeytu is a woman of considerable experience. Her hands are rough and calloused from hard work all her life. Her hair, which has turned grey with time, is always tied with a beaded string in a single, long braid down her back. Her skin shows her age and it is darker than the skin of a younger woman. She walks leaning forward slightly and her joints sometimes bother her. Only her eyes retain their youthful gleam with chocolate brown irises flecked with coal black. Abeytu wears very modest clothes made out of the leather she tans herself. Her only adornment is a braided necklace made out of strips of leather and jade stone beads.
Skills: She can complete numerous tasks well but her strengths are in preparing leather and basket weaving.
History: As the oldest child in the largest family of her tribe, Abeytu used to spend much of her time watching the little ones. Though her real pleasure was in basket weaving, she rarely had time to work on her baskets until her siblings were older. When other women her age began to get married, she chose to pursue basket weaving instead. But, no matter how much she practiced, she never became skilled enough to weave a basket capable of holding a newborn Soquili.
Personality: Abeytu is hard-working and never lets her age slow her down. She is fiercely independent from providing for her younger siblings and living alone most of her life. She rarely complains even if her joints are paining her. On the other hand, she does not like company very much. The younger inhabitants of her tribe tend to tire her out, so she has moved her teepee to the very edge of their settlement. She gets along better with people nearing her own age who can relate to her experiences and the little children that enjoy hearing her stories and helping her with menial tasks. She weaves baskets everyday but she views every one as a failure, even if they are some of the best baskets in the tribe. Abeytu still wishes she could weave a perfect basket sturdy enough to hold a Soquili foal.
Notes: She rarely strays far from her teepee unless she has gone gathering. She didn't have children of her own, but she is close to her young grad-nieces and nephews.
The Teepee
Abeytu's teepee is located at the edge of the forest, away from many of the other inhabitants. It looks out onto the clearing and the view is vast, with no trees to block it. There is plenty of room for the Soquili who visit Abeytu's teepee to frolic, but there is little vegetation for them to eat. Abeytu often provides them with food she gathers in the forest. The plants that grow around the teepee tend to be tough with little nutrition. Farther off in the clearing better vegetation can be found.
The teepee itself is small in size and very modest. The main body of the teepee is plain without dyes or markings of any kind. The teepee poles are beginning to age but they are still sturdy and strong. There are colourful dyed strips of leather at the top of each pole that dance like banners in the wind. Inside, the teepee contains Abeytu's modest possessions. Besides the average things that every women in her tribe owns, she has a woven grass carpet on the floor and many sheaves of grass and dyes for weaving.

Personality: Teppy is a confident, friendly mare with a playful streak. She tends to be in control of her emotions and doesn't let them get in the way of her decisions unless she is pushed hard. She is more of a neutral force, neither dominant or submissive in most circumstances. Teppy likes to be at peace with other Soquili and she will try to understand even the strangest individual before judging them. Only one thing truly scares her: open spaces, which she avoids as much as possible.
Quirks/Other Traits: -She's allergic to bee stings and will feel sick for days if she's stung -She is very agoraphobic (afraid of open spaces)

Personality: Thunder is a big child. He has always been loud and unrestrained, unafraid to speak his mind as noisily as possible to anyone who will listen. He is also very energetic and competitive, loving to race and to prove he is the best at something. If he gets bored, he will go travelling, and sometimes if he meets a stranger on the way, he will try to play a trick on them by sneaking up on them or surprising them in some way. Though he can be boastful, he is also very kind to others, and even a little cowardly. He doesn't get along with really feminine mares, preferring the company of a female who will indulge in his games.

Personality: Meritt is a friendly Soquili with a habit of being self-centered. He likes to be around others and he isn't shy of anything or anyone, even if they are a member of the more threatening breeds. But he can also be moody and he doesn't like it if he isn't the center of attention for a lengthy period of time. If he feels ignored, he will usually complain and annoy others until they focus on him again. To Meritt, no attention is bad attention, so he doesn't care if his behaviour angers other Soquili. Deep down, he is afraid of being forgotten, so he worries that he will be left behind by his companions if he doesn't constantly remind them that he is there. Since his biggest fear is being left alone in the world, he also tries his best to make sure that no one else is forgotten, either. Despite his selfishness, he is a trustworthy and kind stallion. If he makes a promise, he will never break it. Meritt always says what he means, so if he agrees to help and support another Soquili, he will never turn his back on them.

Personality: For a stallion, Talfryn is very docile and quiet. He dislikes confrontation and tends to hide from others with stronger, more aggressive personalities. However, Talfryn isn't a pushover. He knows what he can do and what he cannot do, and uses his brain to sort out problems. Talfryn is very clever, and he is more proud of his sharp mind than his strength or appearance. Often Talfryn chooses to think and listen rather then talk, but he will give out advice when he sees that someone needs help. Since birth he has been taught that family is important, so Talfryn is very protective of all his family members, even those who are not close to him or are not closely related. Usually, Talfryn is friendly to everyone that he meets, but if someone has ever hurt him or one of his family members in the past, he will never let go of his grudge against them. His unwillingness to forgive is probably his biggest fault.

Personality: Cherish is a sweet, gentle Soquili who will not harm another living thing unless it is completely necessary. She is quick to stand down if another Soquili challenges her, even over the smallest of things. Cherish is also patient, so she does not mind waiting for her turn, especially if she is treated fairly by others. She tends to want to please others, even if that means putting herself at a disadvantage. Cherish is the motherly type, so she is fond of watching over young foals. She will guide foals with a gentle but firm hoof, and she treats all foals equally, no matter who their parents may be.
When Cherish speaks, her words often come out with a stutter. She can't control it very well and it tends to get worse when she is nervous or stressed. Strangers make her wary, so she isn't usually the first one to speak, partially from shyness, and partially from wanting to hide her wavering voice. But when she is calm or around familiar Soquili, her stutter becomes much less obvious. The more confident she is, the stronger her voice becomes.

Personality: Terra, as much as she tries to do "evil", is pretty much as clueless as a mare can get. She tries to act collected and heartless, but she rarely succeeds; the tone of her voice or the words that she says usually come out wrong and give her away. If she does happen to meet someone who behaves like she wishes she could, she is likely to follow them around obediently, and sometimes annoyingly, in an effort to pick up some of their habits. Terra is also a little bit paranoid, being suspicious of anyone she meets at first. Her biggest fear is of water, which she believes will keep rising and rising until it washes all the land away. She often spends her time near the sea, watching it for any signs of flood.

Personality: Giconi's emotions and body language can be very hard to read, much to his own satisfaction. Through practice and conditioning he has purposely trained himself to hide emotions so that others will not catch on to his thoughts until it is too late. He is a thief and a liar, so being able to avoid suspicion is very important to him. Unless he specifically tells someone what he is thinking, they may never guess what's on his mind. On top of that, when Giconi speaks he doesn't put a lot of detail into his words. His sentences often come out fractured and incomplete. Giconi naturally doesn't want to let others in because of his chosen 'profession', so he guards himself by being vague. Though he often feels like her pawn and gets frustrated with her lack of talent, Giconi is very loyal to his mother. He won't hesitate to step up and do her bidding whenever it is asked of him.

Personality: Playful, curious Adeline finds delight in adventure and discovery. She is a smart mare that loves to travel to expand her knowledge of the world around her. But, she has an overly optimistic view of life and if she finds that everything isn't quite as bright as she believes it to be, she can become very solemn and emotional. Adeline has trouble understanding why things are as they are, instead of how she imagines them to be. She naively believes that she lives in an idealistic world, so the truth can be devastating for her.
Generally, Adeline is friendly to everyone that she meets. Her curiosity tends to drive her to talk to others in order to learn more about them and where they are from. She has an easy going nature that makes her accepting of strangers, even if she doesn't agree with their values or beliefs.

Personality: Amberlee acts more like a foal than a full grown mare. She has a goofy, playful streak that comes out the most when she is around others. Amberlee doesn't have an ounce of shyness and she will converse with just about anyone. She is rather blind to the physical appearances of others and she doesn't see strangers as being any different from herself, even if they possess fangs or wings. Once she is excited about someone or something, she doesn't stop to think about her surroundings, which can make her vulnerable to threats. On top of that, she is clumsy enough to be a danger to herself. Amberlee rarely realizes when she is in danger until it is too late. Naive Amberlee treats everything like a game, so when she is in trouble, she tends to break down. She has problems accepting and coping with things she doesn't fully understand.

Personality: Angel truly lives up to her name. She is a caring, gentle soul who likes to take care of other Soquili. Even though she has no magic, she wants to become a healer someday. She spends a lot of her time exploring the woods and studying the effects that certain plants have on one's health. But, she doesn't keep herself in isolation. Angel loves her friends and family dearly, so she is always willing to offer a helping hoof and spend time with them instead. While she is soft-spoken, she is not shy, and she is prone to having fits of giggles. Angel is almost always happy and cheerful, unless she is worried about someone else's well-being. She does not mind offering a kind shoulder to cry on, or a soothing word of advice to those that need it.
Even though she seems confident, Angel is too docile to know how to defend herself when she is in trouble, and seeing the horrors of life can drive her to tears. She is too sensitive to face many things in life by herself, so she will run to the comfort of loved ones, or she will ignore the problem until she has no choice but to deal with it.

Personality: Toravell doesn't have much sense of self restraint. She loves to hear herself talk, so she will chat with anyone about anything, nonstop. She also likes to make up stories, and she is the type who will burst out with something inappropriate at the wrong time. Her limitless energy and friendly nature can make her an exhausting Soquili to be around, but Toravell always means well. If there is something that needs to be done, Toravell won't hesitate to lend a helping claw. Even if the task is difficult, Toravell will stubbornly work at it until she runs out of energy or until it is finished, whichever comes first. She may even crack a joke or two while she works. Toravell's ultimate goal is to bring joy to others, and to be the best Soquili she can be.
Since she had been raised in the Harpy herd, she has strong opinions about the roles of male Soquili. While she has no hate for them, she still sees them as lesser beings. Toravell pities them, and treats them like foals who cannot fend for themselves. As long as a male does what she expects him to do, she will be kind, but strong-willed males tend disturb and confuse her.

Personality: Sirillo is very conscious of the environment around her. She is so perceptive, she can usually tell if something strange is happening with just one look around. Once she has been somewhere, the location will be etched permanently into her memory. She never forgets where she has been, so Sirillo never gets lost.
Despite having an ability that could be used to help others if they stray from home, Sirillo often uses her closeness to the environment only to her own advantage. If she stumbles across another Soquili, she will act friendly and kind while spewing lies with the purpose of causing confusion. She likes to trick and disorient other Soquili, especially if they are uncomfortable in strange surroundings. But, Sirillo does have her moments of goodness as well. She is mischievous, not cruel, so she will stop her games before anyone comes to harm. Sirillo also likes the innocence of foals, so she would never play a trick on a youngster. She may even guide a lonely foal until they find the safety of a home.
