My plan is to tank end-game instances. Holy s**t. I've read so much stuff about how to get geared correctly, what talent speccs are the best and why, how threat works, how Expertise works... It's amazing how much you need to know when you're in a tanking position for raiding. Um. Yeah. That's pretty much the thread. Talk about LOLKNOWLEDGE, the fact that I'm rolling a tank, warriors, etc. BEST TANKING BUILD: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=LA0czZVZbEtoI0zcxstHowever, there are alternatives. This is better than that one depending on the fight, because of the spell damage reduction: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=LV0cZVZbEtoI0kcestAlso, if you don't have another warrior to specc Improved Demo Shout, then you'll usually need to pour points into it. BTW.

What my build is like, or something like it. Link: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=LA0czZVZbEtoI0zcxstSunder Armor, revenge, and cleave are awesome ways to keep gro.. you prolly know. My keyboard thing is: 1, Mortal Strike. 2, Heroic. 3, Execute 4, Rend. 5, Charge. 6, ThunderClap (Or sometihng) 7, Hamstring. 8, forget. 9, Overpower w/ 50% crit. 0, forget. Thats my keyboard knowledges. Keep Taunt nice and well. =P Edit: I have yet to do a raid, but I have managed to keep gro off priest/mage/dps, anything in ZF, VC, anything. My speccing was horrible, I sucked at speccing, I'll show you it later.

My speccing was horrible, I sucked at speccing, I'll show you it later. In a raid setting you have to be prot for Devastate. Your main rotation will always be SS, Devastate, Devastate, Devastate until you get your 5 Devastates on the target, and then you'll use a SS, Revenge, Dev, Dev rotation. Of course, once you establish a good rage setting where you can throw out your shouts, clap, etc. you always should, but make sure you always have the rage to shield block. Pretty much, this would mean you'd do this in a fight: SS Dev Dev Dev SS Dev Dev Dev SS Rev Dev Dev SS Rev Dev Dev
Some tank dispute whether you start throwing shouts and claps after the third or fourth rotation. It really depends on the fight of course, but clapping is important, although if you're a main tank it's usually best to try and get an off-tank or someone to do it.
On an infinite rage fight, of course, there is always room for heroic strikes when you can throw them in. The thing is, Devastate eliminates the need for Sunder completely, and it's instant, which means you're still getting your white damage attacks in with Devastate spam. So if you're in an infinite rage fight, you'll be mixing in Heroic Strikes to make use of all that extra rage and so you can get that extra bit of threat out of those white damage hits.
Of course, you don't always have infinite rage. From what I've been reading about, on most fights it all depends on exactly how much rage you have at the time, and what's on cooldown.
17 or more rage: Shield Slam > Revenge > Devastate 12 (or 9 when you're talented) to 16 rage: Revenge > Devastate 7-12 rage: Revenge > Shield Bash
And this is what makes tanking a challenge. In a perfect world, all fights would be infinite rage and you could just use your cycles. However, it's not like that, and good tanks know when and why to use certain moves, and that's what determines whether a tank will be able to actually do their job correctly or not, and it's what makes tanking the hardest job in the game.
Of course, pre-Outlands instances are totally different. With just decent DPS and being able to press the Taunt button, you can usually keep aggro pretty decently. On my old warrior I tanked all the way up through Sunken Temple with a two-hander.

I can't say anything, 'cause the highest level I ever got to is 49. =P But I'm getting wow again real soon!! I'm gonna be my cousins guilds main tank, thanks for the advice.
The thing is, Sunder Armor is good when you don't have Devistate, which means Sunder Armor still works. Due to the fact that I still have a bunch of stuff to do.
Of course, I was make a smexy off-tank, I can't tank at all, since I hate being prot, due to the fact I cant pvp like a pro. T__T I have a cycle like that too.. except its much more complicated. Using the numbers up there, I will represent it to you.
5,4,7,2,2,4,7,1,6,7,4,9,1,3.
Something like that, of course I switch to defense a lot, 'cause it used to be you couldn't sunder in battle stance or something, so I got used to switching stances right away. = and - were my switching stance keys, 0-9 were attacks.. I think sunder was 8, not sure, I doubt it though. Prolly a clicker, or was it 1? I am zoning out. o_o

The Mule Of Max [snip]it's what makes tanking the hardest job in the game.[snip] While I have to agree that tanking is the most involved and difficult job (70 tankadin), I dunno if it's the 'hardest'... It can get pretty dang hard to resist poppping my trinket and unloading my mana bar at the main target the instant the tank pulls (70 destro lock) ;]
JK, of course. I absolutely love tanking, and wouldn't change spec for (almost) anything, but it is quite challenging. Perhaps that's why I like it so much...
(BTW, has anyone/everyone seen the "Tanks... You're Welcome." T-shirt at JINX.com? That's the next item of clothing I'm planning on buying...

I figured you'd be intelligent enough to infer that because we use a paladin that late in the game, he's tanked most of the prior content. whee
The only tier 6 fight I haven't seen him tank is Archimonde.
Play more content imo before you preach.

I have quite a few friends at my school that let me raid on their toons when they need to work or do something else, and none of their guilds use paladin tanks at all. SRY THAT YOUR GUILD ISN'T LIKE ALL OTHERS.
