Like The title said, if you had to, how would YOU make a Movie Based game?
Sypnosis? Gameplay style? Story Changes? Voice Casting? Exclusivity? Download or no Download? It's Your Call.
I guess I'll start.
Cloverfield(Working Title) I would first have either Drew Goddard or J.J. give me a suitable sypnosis for the story of the game, I really couldn't make a game out of 4 adults making more mistakes than Tu-Pac in hell.
Gameplay wise, it would play like a cross of Gears Of War, and Bioshock. It would still have the cinematic feel to it, but in true first person, instead of a VERY sturdy camera.
Voice Casting would either be completely new, or hints and bits from the movie and new a new cast.
It would be a PS3/360 game. Downloadable content would be accessed by completing Achievements/earning trophy's, which could lead to extra content on the movie, upcoming manga, or the game story itself.
I might have Epic and Valve buddy up to work on it 3nodding

Seriously, I checked IGN to see if anyone else caught-spoiler-something falling out from the sky at the very end of the movie, and instead, I find J.J. has licensed out the rights to a prequel in Manga form.
I kinda died a little after that....

I would stick to the formula hardcore... i.e. no lame new characters/mary sues.
I would add a twist to a solid formula to surprise game fans... like Silent Hill did. Best example of a video-game-turned-movie ever. Ever.

Some Game Movies, you can't stick to the script. Cloverfield would be incredibly boring if we stuck with the "Stupid New York Kids get killed one by one as Giant, ugly monster attacks New York."
Essentially, it'd be run, watch a member die, argue, run, wash, rinse, repeat.

I'd have ubisoft or insominac make it.l I'd use the real actors for voice overs. And I'd make sure it wouldn't suck via game testing & delaytion if need be & anything else to make it NOT suck.

For one thing, it is very hard to make a game about a movie. But it is easier to make a movie about a game (even if most of them are bad). As long as the movie includes all of the characters, and the same plot and story as the game, then it will be a good movie. The problem is that nobody does this. Every movie that is based on a game has either different characters, or a completely different story, but most of the time they have both which makes them bad.

I would try to maintain the strict storyline of the game, but at the same time use formulas for games that have already taken off.
For example, I Am Legend. I would make it a third person shooter, using elements from Gears of War, Resident Evil, and GRAW 2. However, it would not entirely be shooting. There'd be minor medical components, minor life components. For those I'd use Trauma Center and maybe the Sims.
