It had been so long since that day when her grandsire came. He came and took her away from her mother. Took her away and tossed her into a dark pool of old traditions and old ways of thinking.
All of this left Dafina in a haze. The only way she could explain how she felt was with the word grey. Everything was grey. Nothing sparked that lively feeling she had. Nothing had color or emotion to it. Like an over cast day that just hinted towards the coming of a storm.
How long though had it exactly been? She had lost count a while ago. But why count the days when she was trapped? All the days melded into one another now.
She had been given a bit of time to herself. Away from her apparent extended family. Those from her own mother's past that tried to conform her. Change her. And it had worked. She walked. Slowly at first and then soon into a quick trot. The mare wanted to put as much distance between herself and them for the time being. She could of just run away. But he was always watching. And he would find her no matter where she went.
She was doomed to this existence. All because of her own mother.

Ramus was by himself and he wondered exsactly if he would ever see Dafina again. it had been a long while and ofcourse he had remebered their last meetign and what she had asked him to promise. shakign his head, he gave a snort as he walked along. maybe he would run into his brother or maybe his grandma or grandfather or maybe just maybe someone he knew. he actualy only knew two that wherent family related but that was because he didnt care much to search out the company of those that wherent family.

Finally satisfied with what distance she might of gained, Dafina stopped beneath a scraggly tree. A former shadow of itself. But still birds perched in it's branches. Singing sweet little tunes that spring was near.
Lifting her head, she watched them solemnly. A soft breeze catching her mane and tail. Lifting them up and ruffling them about.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a brief flash of brown tones. Her head jerked to the side as she tried to catch exactly what or who it was. It couldn't of been her grand sire. He was mostly black. So...who was it?

giving a loud grunt, he was being absent minded as he walked along so he had no clue that someone had now noticed he was about. ears twitched as he heard the birds and their singing. " atlest maybe the bitter cold will be gone." grumbling to himself as he slowly walked, he never was that much of a fan of the cold and would sometimes grumble on about it a bit.
(a bit brain dead on what kind of reply to ahve done xD;; )

Dafina's eyes locked on the brown figure as she watched it continue to move. It seemed so...familiar. Very familiar.
Her heart skipped a beat as she figured as to who it might of been. The only Soquili she knew that was brown was Ramus. If it was him....
Just as she was about to nicker a calling to him, the mare stopped herself before any sound could roll past her teeth. Clamping her mouth shut and glancing about nervously.
Swallowing a lump in her throat, she slowly and cautiously made her was in his direction. Keeping a wary eye on her surroundings the entire time she moved. Hoping, just hoping that her grand sire was no where in her vicinity.

ears twitched as he thoughthe heard somethign and stopped to only then notice a bird just had taken off a branch. snorting, he felt a bit edgey as he felt like he has now being followed. snortign again, this time he now decided to look around his surrondign to make sure no one was around like he had thought. lookign from his left to right he saw no one but when he turned around, he was shocked to now see Dafina. raising a brow, he wondered what was making her so cautious.

The moment he turned around and looked at her, she stopped in her tracks. A weak smile coming to her lips. Normally she would of bound up to him or something. Ever cheerful, unless they were fighting or nitpicking over some little thing with each other.
But she kept her distance for now. The thought of her grand sire spotting her associating with Ramus made her shake lightly. "Hello Ramus." Her voice was barely above a whisper as she took a few tentative steps towards him.

Ramus was shocked by how she was acting towards him right now as the last time the Dafina he knew would mess with him or even brawl with him if they got into a stupid spat that would end with them laughing at one another about it. snorting he walked stright up to her and headbutted her in the shoulder in his own headstrong manor of wantign to know what was up. "hello is all you have to say to me adn here i thought we where becoming friends Dafina. or am i making a mistake in thinking we are?"

She let out a little grunt when he head butted her shoulder. A small frown coming to her lips as he spoke.
Her eyes traveled to the ground as her head slumped downwards a bit. "We are friends, Ramus. Its just-just...things have changed since the last time we spoke. I suppose I've changed a bit since then, as has my life."

Ramus blinked at her pretty much confused at to what kind of a drastice change could have happened that would make her act this way now. wrinkling his nose he was now deturmend to find out what was up. " and what exsactly has happened since we last spoke? i would have thought someone like you could handle anything that was thrown your way." giving her a bit more space between them, her awaited a answer.

Nibbling on her bottom lip to keep it from trembling, she lifted her gaze just a bit to be able to see his face. It was a breath of fresh air to see him. Someone she knew.
"My grandfather came. He beat up my mom and.....now I'm living in his herd. Its horrible Ramus, everyone there is like a puppet under his hoof. They don't breath without him knowing. He determines everything that happens. Its like a prison." Dafina quit nibbling on her lip, the hard chewing made it hurt. "Even now, if he caught me talking to you he'd probably rip your throat out."

Ramus was shocked by what he just heard and could only shake his head right then. " i know nothing about herds but from what you say it seems to me you dont get to live life how you want it." snorting, he shook his head again. " i wouldn't worry about what would happen if he saw me around you. i would allow myself to get beatn atlest i wouldnt make it easy even if i did." now his eyes looked this way and that ashe spoke, now wondering if her grandfather might pop up if he really was that uptight of keepign her away from any stallions.

"No one does. At least not the mares. Its an all stallion rule with my grand father at the top." Her eyes fell to the ground one more as she silently stared at it for a few seconds. "You don't know him Ramus. You don't know what he would do to you. I don't want you to get hurt but I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't see my friends. Well, friend. Your my only friend so far in life in the first place."
Her tail flicked lifelessly behind her a few times, the sound of crunching leaves nearby nearly made her jump out of her skin. But after a few moments she realized it might of just been a random animal in the area making the noise. Dafina would of known in an instant if it was Dragonfly.

" to be honest Dafina i dont think thats right." he gritted his teeth a bit knowing there really wasnt anything he could do unless he wanted to pick a fight. unlike his father and grandfather he wasnt one who liked picking a fight though he was known to get into one if pushed to a put his temper got out of head. " i dont carewhat he would try to do to me, you shouldn't be forced to bow down to him like some puppet. and honestly your the only friend i seen more than just once." it was true he had not seen n'rai in quite some time and Dafina was the only other soquili he knew that wasnt his grandparents, parents or sibling.

"What can I do then? If I run away he'll just track me down again!" Her voice rose a little but she quickly snapped her mouth shut, tucking her head downwards a bit against her chest. "I'd just end up in the same place once more...." The mare's ears flattened momentarily.
The instant the sound of breaking branches reached her ears, her head snapped around. Eyes widening in almost terror. She knew what was coming. At that same instant, Dragonfly stepped through the trees. So dark was his color he almost seemed like a shapeless shadow. Bright red eyes locked on the pair as a deep snort flared his nostrils. Eyebrows furrowed as he quickly made his way forward.
His oppressive personality was enough to cause Dafina to take a few steps back. The old stallion had had an inkling that something was going on, so often he followed Dafina when she went off on her own. Or he sent her uncle, his son, after her to watch. Now he himself had caught her red handed.
