An earthy red and teal hare hopped blissfully through the open air, thrilled to the core about her new companion, she had successfully tamed a hyena of her own. He was her bug killer, if and when she would see one he would run to her aid squish it and retreat back to what ever he was doing. She had even convinced the big lug to go out and find her food. This latest find mind her quite plump and a possible easy target for anyone that would eat her.
As she hopped she took in the sights around her, pride rock off in the distance, another hare had told her that was a lion den and never to venture that way, but with her new found companion looming far behind her, what was to stop her from marching up to some big old lion? The real thing to fear were creepy crawlies and flying things.
"Oh..how I wish..I wish I were a fish.." she sang sing song fashion.

Mnyama was off on her own for the day, which was not unusual. What was unusual was that she was not in a particularly good mood. Her mother was improving a bit, but it also appeared that she was now pregnant. The hare wasn't sure if she was just jealous or thought it was a bad idea in general because of the horrible state her mother had been in when she was young.. surely more kittens was only going to make it worse! So, feeling rather grumpy, she hopped along- wondering where Angavu might have gotten off to. She usually followed the cub around, kept an eye on the adventurous girl- though she had yet to turn her in for anything that someone more cautious might have. She stumbled to a stop when she suddenly heard something.. singing? Her tall ears perked way up, she did her best to stand on her tippy-toes and look around for the source. "Hello?" she called.

"'Cause if I were I'd blow lots and lots of..." she stopped abruptly, someone had called out.
"Wana?" She called out and then immediately scolded herself, that was a small feminine voice, certainly not the male hyena's. Her ears perked to listen for the source and she called again, "Hello?" She hopped a few steps forward, standing on her hind legs.
Small voices made her think of bugs, and bugs made her want to call Wana. She resisted the urge and would call him once she heard small creepy legs or the flutter of tiny wings.

Mnyama could not SEE anyone, though she was rather amused by the sing-song. She couldn't hear all of the lyrics, but she still found it rather cheery. A distraction was exactly what she needed right now! Forget mom and dad and whatever mess they were getting into now, perhaps whoever this was would be much more interesting.
"Who's Wana?" Mn called back, lowering back onto her paws and hopping towards the source of the voice. She grinned when she suddenly popped out to see a very colorful hare. Or, it was colorful to her- her whole family was white, black and grey!
"Hello!" she greeted the stranger, briefly wondering if all strange hares were colorful. There'd been that green one, too.

Nafsi's eyes scanned the grass for the source of the voice and fell over in fear as the strange hare 'popped' up towards her.
"At least you're not a bug!" she shrieked as she fell onto her back. Inwardly she hoped she did not alert Wana. She wanted to meet someone knew without him interfering, he seemed to do that a lot in fear that his companion would be eaten.
"Wana is my trained hyena, who are you?" She grunted as she made her way to a sitting position. It seemed like the new hare was a very young one. She'd never met a hare of any one pure color, Mn's family would be an interesting topic for the red hare.

Mnyama's nose wrinkled immediately at the idea that she could have been a bug. She might not be very big, but she certainly was no bug! However, she was not terribly offended. It might be easier to mistake those who are not big enough to see right off for things that they are now. However, she still dared to stick her tongue out at the older hare in a very puerile manner.
"You have a trained hyena?" she asked curiously, finding that to be quite odd- until she realized she could probably say the same thing about Meme and Anga. With a smug smile, she said very proudly, "Yeah? I have a trained lion. Two of them."

"Two?" She looked at the other hare curiously, she did not say her name, how rude! "I am Nafsi, Who-are-you?" She articulated her words very slowly.
"Did the lion gods not bless you with markings?" she asked looking at the other's blank pelt. Nafsi was blessed with lovely markings and cleaned herself to make them look pretty regularly. she thought about asking Wana to clean her, but thought that might be pushing it and she did not want to scare away her bug killer.
"Two?" she repeated again, "two lions? I bet my Wana is as big as a lion!"

Mnyama nodded proudly, and then started when Nafsi introduced herself- suddenly reminded that she hadn't introduced herself either! Nafsi's decision to very. carefully. ask. who. she. was.. Mnyama was not impressed, so she raised an eyebrow and decided to answer in the same manner.
"I-am-Mn-ya-ma," she said, very carefully. When Nafsi said her Wana was probably as big as a lion, Mnyama paused and rubbed her nose thoughtfully. She'd never seen a hyena before, but the way Nafsi said she bet he was as big as a lion.. it gave her some reason to doubt it.
"Maybe, but my Meme is pretty big."

"Pleasure to meet you, Mnyama," she said much quicker and raised a paw to flick her ear. Fear run through her that maybe she had mites, tiny..tiny creepy crawly insects. Wana was quite large, but no where near the size of a lion, especially a Pridelander.
"Well, he's big compared to us! Are there a lot of hares around here?" She had gotten wind that some hares lived together in large colonies, but that would almost certainly attract mites!
She always had hopes to meet an attractive young male and settle down for a family, maybe if there was a lot of hares she could try and lure one away from the rest of the mite infested ones..maybe Wana would steal her a male! She could clean him up.

Mnyama smiled when Nafsi's story changed to that Wana was just bigger than them, that was something that she would believe. Perhaps she might seek out a hyena some day! She'd really like to see one, but she wondered if Nafsi might be able to produce her Wana so easily right this moment. Perhaps later.. if she dared to ask.. a trained hyena would probably be safer than an untrained one.
"Hares?" she repeated, pulled out of her thoughts, "Yes! Well, my family is here, there are at least four of us. My mom's having more kittens though." Here the jealous older sister crossed her arms.
"And I saw one other hare around before, but dad and Tuli have seen others," she added.

Nafsi shivered inwardly thinking about little crawling slimy things, with bug like eyes crying and needing you...eww! They were just as bad as insects, and just as frightening. She scratched her ear again and anxiety crept into ehr demeanor, she was sure she had mites.
"Four, that's more than around me! I've met one other hare besides you recently," she murmured, "Who's Tuli? Your lion?"

Mnyama's nose twitched as she watched Nafsi curiously, this red one seemed awfully twitchy. What an odd little quirk, but it made her that much more interesting- and thus made Mnyama that much more enthusiastic! She nodded along as Nafis commented on the size of her family.
"Four, plus whatever mama ends up having this time," she reminded Nafsi, then shook her head at the question about Tuli, "No! Not at all! Tuli is my sister, my lions are Meme and Anga."

She flicked her ear again trying to keep her cool, "Tuli and Mnyama are very lovely names, Meme and Anga are interesting too!" She complimented them, making a note that she really liked the name Meme, someday she would get over her fear of small things and possibly take a pet, Meme would be a perfect name for one..but for now there was something more pressing to think about.
"I'm sorry..I just...would you? I," she squealed in a low tone and attacked her ear, "Could you look? Are they mites?" She pleaded. Batting at her left ear wildly trying to dig into it, "Say they're not miiiites!"

"Thank you," Mnyama beamed, happy to accept compliments on behalf of her entire family. And of course, she considered Memetuka and her entire family to be her own family as well! Shiri and her brood were around enough, that was why Mnyama kept an eye on Angavu. She was one of the more interesting cubs to follow around anyone, though Mnyama supposed she was biased because Anga was the only girl and not the least, but not the most rambunctious of the bunch.
"Whut?" the hare blinked suddenly when asked to help, to take a look in her eats. Mnyama had no idea what she was looking for, but she took a look- and to her Nafsi's ear looked perfectly normal. Aside from being a bit red, but Mnyama supposed that was from all the scratching and batting at it.
"No?" she offered.

Nafsi shook furiously her little body still propped up in the semi sitting position, her eyes huge on the verge of tears. She had stopped the digging so Mn could look and tried her best not to dig any more after Mn said no, in fact there was nothing in there.
"I just, really hate insects, they're so tiny, tiny things are so very, very frightening," she murmured fear echoing in her voice, "Even small bunnies are so very frightening."
Nafsi tried her best to control the tremors but was failing and a small tremor was left as she leaned forward hoping onto her feet. She was sure now Mn would run thinking her a very queer hare indeed.
