Days came and went in the tunnels; the queen of the pride was smart and wise... true that she could not see, but Kalama had learnt through her stay in the caverns that the eyes did not matter as much as the heart. It was thus her heart what she'd learnt to follow... and her father's greatest teaching; nothing is what it seems. It was with these thoughts in mind at the the female explored the lands outside the cave labyrinths... each day a little further, each day with just a bit less fear. As it was, she'd reached the outside of the gorge she lived in and was currently playing about the grassy fields. Her father had told her of the Pridal lands they lived in; Pride rock could be seen in the near distance... she had nothing to fear from the members of this pride, so long she not start disputes. Thus she played. Jumping from rock to rock, keeping her balance.

Kaya was essentially an only child - though she had a handful of older siblings, she was the only one young enough to really need to have proper care taken. This meant that she was often spoiled, indulged, and allowed to do many things that she wouldn't have been had she had siblings. Her father was a good lion - but he didnt discourage her constant needs for fairy tale adventures.

That was what had brought her out to the gorge - seeking adventure that she could only find in a great story. Her little gray-blue body wound through the rocks, her eyes shifting over the land before her. She had never come out this far, but she was convinced some sort of monster had to live out here! Where there were monsters, there were heroes to slay them! She wanted to have a hero so badly.

She leapt up onto a rock, just in time to see a darker form pouncing around another. Her brilliant red eyes shifted, head tilting. What was that girl doing out here all alone? Was she a damsel in distress, or was she a traveling gypsy? "Hi!" called the little lioness, taking some calculated leaps across the rocks in the direction of the other.

The call of the lioness was unexpected; so much so that Kala stopped her jumping abruptly.... and lost her balance. A squeal was issued as she toppled from the rock and fell face first into the soil and grass, "Ow..." it was murmured through a mouthfull of dirt which the lioness coughed as soon as she sat up, brushing her tongue with her paws, "Ewww...."

A pause followed as she turned her gaze towards the other female, "You surprised me!" it was not acusition, but rather, almost a hello as she sat there, her head tilted to one side.

Kaya's eyes widened as she watched the older fem take a tumble, stumbling as she tried to leap over towards her faster. However, the girl had already gotten up by the time she reached her, and with a semi-graceful leap down, she eyed the damage. She seemed alright - though Kaya silently cursed where the hero was. He should have been here to catch the girl!

Of course, she never stopped to think that heros might not spend all day looking for damsels in distress.

"I'm sorry," she exclaimed, red eyes wide as she moved closer to inspect the darker, larger form. "You're ok, right?"

No, there was no hero about; at least not around these parts, as far as Kala was concerned. She'd really... not met many of her age, or younger, either, except Rudo, a while back. The male had vanished after their adventure in the darkness of the cave mazes though, and she'd not seeked him out.

"I'm fine..." she paused and frowned, turning her head to look over her back and paws, almost as if in need to make sure of this. After a nod of her head, the female straightened up again, shaking her body off of the dust it'd gathered during her fall, "I think anyhow; my fault," she smiled at the other female, "My father says I like to walk with my head in the clouds," she shook her head but mentioned no more.

Granted she was young, and granted she was... unusualy naive, however, she'd learnt that mentioning she had a spider for a 'father', was not really warmly welcome amongst outsiders to the Anansi clan, "What of you? You're out alone?" she leaned in to sniff at the female, a brow arching.

"Well that's good, I would feel really bad if you got hurt," she replied, slowly sitting back and ceasing her examination of the other. She wouldn't have really been able to tell if there was anything wrong anyway - the other girl was too dark! She trusted that she knew if she was hurt. "And how can you walk with your head in the clouds?" she asked with a frown, red eyes flickering up towards the clouds above them. That made no sense.

"I'm out looking for an adventure!" she exclaimed, eyes shifting back towards the other girl as a grin split her maw. "I want to see a monster, or foil a villain.. or.." she trailed off, furrowing her brows as she tried to remember what else happened in fairy tales. "Or maybe just see a fairy princess."

"No, I'm fine," she rubbed the back of her neck with a paw before standing up; as soon as Kaya was done examinating her, Kala turned to examinate her in turn; she'd never seen her, and tell truth, spent most of her time with Anansi and the Queen, both of which were adults. Granted her father was playful, but having eight legs often gave him an advantage in games. Not to mention the fact that... well... it wasn't the same; she'd always wanted to have playmates of her age, or at least near her age. It'd be so much more interesting that way!

Her question caught Kala off-guard and she paused to blink before she smiled, "Why, I fly, of course. Like brother wind, and brother bee," she nodded her head slowly, before she winked, "Well, maybe I DON'T fly, but... maybe someday I will," a chuckle was issued then, "Adventures! Those are fine... Are you a princess, or a prince, your self? Or are you perhaps an apprentice, or a hero?" she turned around and spun once oneall four legs, lowering her head to whisper, "All adventures must have a hero, and a villain!"

Kaya had half believed the words coming out of the other girl's mouth until she saw that wink. Then a soft laugh trickled from her tiny maw and she shook her head in her mirth. Sometimes Kaya was too ready to believe silly stories - especially when they seemed magical. She wanted to see something magical so badly, for that was a big part of many fairy tails. "I think it would be great to fly - but I don't think we can? We don't have wings."

"Me?" she asked surprisedly, her head tilting in the direction of the other girl. "My daddy says I'm a princess, his princess, but I don't think that counts as far as fairy tales are concernced. I think I'm much better at being a damsel in distress anyway, 'cause I'm always getting myself into trouble." Which was true - her 'adventues' often led her into many, many sticky situations. So far, her father was playing a great hero.

Sadly, most of the time her adventures were spent alone. She had few friends her age, and seeing as she had no litter mates, it was all the harder for her.

"Oh, we don't," she shook her head, her tail flicking with a twinkle in her eyes, "But there are those that can; like the Gods," she chuckled and spread her paws, "They have wings; each god diferent. My father told me about them. There are big gods, small gods, happy ones and grumpy ones, but all have wings and fly," of course, she for now decided to omit that her father himself, was a god, "That means we can fly too, if we're carried," she padded over to the other female, "Or! If we're, perhaps, granted a wish. It just depends on what be or what may... what might become of us tonight."

It was a sing song, happy, cheerful as she hummed along to the beat, jumping away from the other girl to land on a random rock, "Of course you! You can't be on an adventure less you asume a role, now can you?" a pause as Kala tapped her maw, "Oh, I see.... are you looking for a hero to save you? Or a villain to hold you?" she accentuated the question with jumps, from rock to rock.

"Gods?" the younger girl questioned, her eyebrows furrowed. She had heard stories of gods, but she had never seen one. They sounded too spectacular to really be true. But Kaya, of course, always believed everything in a story - that was just part of her nature. "Oh, granted wishes? Kind of like a fairy godmother?" Her ears perked and her grin widened. "So they're almost like fairies, maybe? Or at least magic like them? I'd very much like to have a wish!"

She leaped up with a little giggle, her eyes drifting to the clouds. She wondered, idly, what it felt like to touch clouds. "I dont know what I am looking for. I don't need a hero to save me because.. I'm not in any trouble! Maybe I need a villain so I can find a hero?" She leapt after the other as she spoke, though she was a little more clumsy than the older cub. Her jumps were slow, and sometimes quite wobbly as she went.

"Yes, gods!" the dark female nodded, "Maybe you'll see one, one day too," there was no wink this time; it was clear, if anything, that Kalama believed in Gods, for whatever reason. In fact, it was quite obvioust at least, that the girl in question believed in most what Kaya herself did, even if they did carry out their fantasies in diferent ways, "Perhaps in a diferent way; maybe, if you help them, they'll do a favour back. My father tells the most marvellous stories of them! Magic, and oath, and loyalty!" of course, it helped that Anansi was the god of trickerie and stories himself.

"A villain then you shall have!" she mock-growled and turned to face Kaya, lifting her paw, "You have now met the most evil of villains upon this earth! It is I! Kalama!" she paused for a moment, all facet dropped, "That's my name by the way," and just as soon as it'd vanished, the facet came back and she 'roared' rather fearlessly against her sworn enemy; the cub in front of her, "You shall now have to face me!" she declared.

"Oh, maybe I will," she said with a grin, though, as she heard the other girl begin to talk about stories - her eyes widened slightly. "Stories, like magical stories and fairy tales?" Those were Kaya's weakness, the poor thing, and she would likely stop whatever she was doing, no matter how important it was, to hear someone tell a story!

Her eyes shifted towards the other girl as she heard the change in her tone, eyes widening slightly as she tried to comprehend what was going on. Then, with a laugh and a grin, after she realized exactly what Kalama was getting to, she pushed herself up to her feet. Sure, she liked to be the damsel in distress, but she'd have to be the hero if there weren't any others, right? "Then I shall slay you, evil beast Kalama! For I am the great Jini'Kekaya!" Her voice boomed (as loudly as a cub's voice can boom), and she straightened her posture with a puffed up chest.

And maybe they would; it was yet to be seen what gods, myths, or stories came their way. As far as Kalama was concerned, it took just a bit of luck... and want for things to happen their way. That was all. Just a tiny ounce of luck; the rest had to do with what they did with their own time... and their own lives. Stories were stories; they were right now living out their own story.

Even if it was just make belief now... who knew? Maybe it'd be for real some day.

She answered not the first few question, deciding it would be wrong to step out of her 'role' of master-villain in order to do so. Questions could wait for later; and maybe, just maybe... they could make their OWN story in the mean time.

"You can not slay me!" she declared as she pointed her claw at Kaya, "You are weak! You pityful beast! How can you even dream of slaying one such as I!" she pressed her free paw to her chest before she once again 'roared' with might. This time however, she jumped to tackle the other female down (taking care to aim for the grass where they'd not get hurt), however, the outcome of the pounce was still to be seen.

"I can too, you scoundrel!" She called back fearlessly, tail thrashing behind her to add to the effect. "Just who do you think you are, calling me a pitiful beast? You are the one that is pitiful!" though, as these words came out, she hadn't the time to say much else. She was tackled by the other, landing in the grass with a roll, with the younger female on bottom - probably from the fact that she happened to be smaller. With a huff, as they stopped, Kaya stepped out of her roll for a solitary moment to whisper, "the villain is supposed to lose.."

Then with a little growl, she began to wriggle beneath the larger form, "unhand me, you beast!"

"I am superior to you in EVERY way!" she sneered at her enemy, her head tilting up for effect; she could play her role very well indeed! But then again, aparently, so could Kaya, "I will show you just how superior my mind and body are!" she 'rawred' again as she landed on top of her, reaching up to n** at the cub's ears as she did so; while she nipped, she whispered back, "Not without a legendary fight first though! You need to beat me!"

As Kaya wriggled, Kalama got off, suddenly clutching where her heart would be, "Oh no! I've been struck! OHhhhhh!! FOR SHAME!" and this said, she fell backwards on the grass, playing dead.

Kaya's eyes widened as she mouthed a silent 'oh' in response to the other girl - she had completely forgotten about the legendary fight! This was exactly why she was a damsel in distress and not a hero! However, at the girl's words, she let out her own meager little roar, "you only think you are better than me! It is I that am better then you, truly!"

Kaya scrabbled up to her paws, watching the dramatic death scene that Kalama underwent, a smirk curling across her maw as she did so. With a triumphant cackle, she put her paw on the other girls' back, puffing out her chest, "I am victorious!"

Giggles drifted towards the two girls then, and a small blue hued cub appeared, peering down upon both 'hero' and 'villain' with brilliant emerald eyes. Despite her size there was something odd about the 'cub' in question. Imprinted upon her blue, tiger striped pelt were markings that seemed to.... mimic wings. Her tail too, seemed too large for a lion's... too thick, and it did not end like that of a lion, "Very good!" she chirped from her perched, clapping her paws at the other females, "Very good!"

Kalama peeked an eye open before rolling over to join Kaya, "And who are you?"

The blue cub sat herself down, and the way she smiled down at the cubs seemed to indicate there was something up her sleeves, "Oh, the trio isn't completed till we get a damsel in dristess, right?" she waved a paw, and smirked from her perch, "So I'll be the new villain!"

Kaya frowned slightly at the 'cub' that stood before them, edging slightly closer to the older female at her side. Something about the way she presented herself, or the way she talked, or maybe the way she seemed a little strange - it bothered her. She shifted her eyes to look up uncertainly at Kalama, then turned them back upon the other.

"That didn't answer our question," she said slowly, though the thought of a new villain was certainly entertaining. She didn't know what the other cubs idea of villainy was though, and for some reason she was weary of her. She just seemed so.. strange.

"There is no need for answering questions!" the cub cheerfuly proclaimed as she sat down, lifting a front paw suddenly, "You wanted an adventure, didn't you? And adventure you'll have!" and as she said this, she moved her paw, "Round and round and round.... what comes round, goes round!" it was a chimming rhyme, almost a song, and as she spoke, she suddenly, something formed out of nowhere; the grass moved, the earth moved, tilla large monster looked down upon the cubs; an illusion, no doubt... one that posed absolutely no threat, but alas.... the cubs didn't have to KNOW that, "Now then, if I'm the villain, which of you is the hero? You?" as Muhali advanced, so did the creature, snarling at the cubs, "Or you?"

Kala took one step back, and another as the creature advanced.

"Don't be silly! Can't beat me if you go back, both of you!" And this said, the markings on her back suddenly stopped being markings, and wings.... real wings, replaced them.

"I.. we.." came the words as she tried to answer her first questions, but all thought of that was erased as the monster formed in front of them. Her eyes widened and she took quite a few steps backwards, her paws shaking somewhat. "But.." She still couldn't say anything, only stared in fear.

"We don't want to beat you.." she said shakily, though as the markings on her back formed into wings, the younger of the cubs cried out and turned away - running for anything. This was too scary!

"Oh, but you'll have to!" came the chirp back as the blue cub spread her wings and landed over the the monster's head, perched there, "This is your game after all..." she watched as Kaya turned around and smirked, "If that makes you the damsel in distress..."

Kala grabbed Kaya as she turned to run, "No, no!" she grabbed onto the cub's form and hugged it, as best as a four legged creature could hope to do anyhow, "No! That's not the way!" turning back to the monster, she managed to hold onto Kaya while facing the other cub, "Look at it!" she hissed, "Don't worry, just look at it... my father's told me, that usualy, the problems you face, are your own fears, and that belief rules the world!" and this said she pointed a claw at monster and goddess, "BE GONE! I VANISH YOU! WE DON'T BELIEVE IN YOU!"

"That'd make you the hero," finished the goddess as she hoped off the monster. As Muhali jumped off, the illusion charged towards the two cubs, but paused, and shattered, vanishing into nothing almost as soon as it reached them and the darker cub had proclaimed to not believe.

Kaya squeaked loudly as she was grabbed by Kala, her little form shivering as she pressed herself against the other female in an attempt to hide. She didn't want to be here near the monster, and she didn't like that really weird cub that was up there.

As Kala yelled at the monster, she felt a surge of relief, though it was bitten back as the creature began to run towards them. She struggled in Kala's grip, and almost collapsed against the ground as the creature vanished. She took a deep breath, frightened eyes turning up to look at the crazy cub.

Then of course, she realized that the other was not a cub at all. It had wings and it did magic! That's what Kala had said gods did! "You are a goddess," she whispered, wide eyes turned up to the blue cub. She didn't like her first meeting with a god.

A giggle was their reward, and again the cub sat on it's back haunches, clapping her forepaws, the twinkle is her eyes having never vanished, "Very good!" she cheered, "Very good!" Her wings fluttered once, twice as she took into the air and landed before both cubs.

Kala for her part was breathing so harshly she was practicaly hyperventilating; she clung to Kaya's form, guarding it with her own, almost as if she were clinging to a plushie, whilst trying to protect it. Needless to say they looked ridiculous, "Who..." now that she'd defeated the 'monster', her energy had drained.

The cub strolled in front of them harmlessly, lifting her paws in the air as she went, "Muhali!" she chirped happily, then took a deep bow, "Irrationality, at your service...." she lifted her head slightly before she took a jump back, "I could not help but over hear what you were talking about and... my lesson is; be careful what you wish for! It may just come true!" this said, she beat her wings and jumped up,plunging into the sky, vanishing as suddenly as she'd appeared; the only thing that remained, proof of the adventured they'de lived, were two bright blue feathers on the floor.

"I..." Kalama blinked, finaly releasing Kaya from her grasp, "I don't think that's the lesson," he said as she looked up to the sky, her smile coming back to her maw, though she was still having difficulty breathing, "I think it was more along the lines of... the world is whatever you want to believe it is."

Having her question rewarded with a giggle and clap of the paws didn't make Kaya feel any better about the entire situation. Once the lioness disappeared, Kaya took in a deep breath and a shudder. She flopped onto the ground, putting her paws over her eyes. She wanted to hide for a few moments.

As Kala's words touched her ears, her eyes opened, just in time to see the feathers land before them. "I don't know what the lesson was, but as long.. as I never have to see her again, I think I will be happy." She shook her head with a frown, then reached out to scoop up one of the feathers. It'd be nice to keep, just to remind her what the world could be and all the things that could happen.

Kalama chuckles softly, but it was just as nervous as she kaya's light shudering; it showed in the way the darker female's paws trembled, "I don't know..." she reached to pat Kaya's head and then flopped on the ground, her eyes closing from exhausting, "I think we did a fine job. Don't you?" she too reached for a feather, then curled up there and then, "Maybe later... I'll tell you a story. About a spider, and a lion cub."
