So, JGG. Over the weekend, on a religious school trip, I attended a Tu B'Shevat seder. Y'know, that holiday no one knows anything about?
Well, the verdict is this: I loved it. I love the meanings, I love the tasty fruit (I've been craving fruit ever since) and I love that it's totally different from a Pesach Seder. And conicedentally, my mother's attending one right now that a family friend is hosting.
So, have you recently done a Tu B'Shevat Seder? Ever been to one? Want to do one?
...delicious, juicy grapefruit. XP

I missed one tonight. I went to look at a potential new apartment, and should've been back almost an hour before the seder was to begin. But we got stuck in traffic, and I got home with barely 5 minutes to spare. The SO and I simply stayed home instead. This one would've been my first. Next year, though, I'll totally be doing one, jointly with my best friend. I'll prepare the foods, and she and her husband will handle the seder part of the evening. That's because next year I'll actually have a full dining room and dining table, G*D willing, and not just clear the TV Guide off the coffee table and pull up some cushions.

Now I find the "Making a comeback?" part of the title really ironic.
But, anyway, I don't go out of my way for Tu B'Shevat, butI used to go to Hebrew School as a little lad and there were quite a few there.

As an increasingly religious Jew in a slowly more secular household, these little holidays are hard to follow. I hope one day I can teach my children about them, what to do, when they occur, why... and just relax in the knowledge my line is Jewish and will not be robbed of the experiences I have been robbed of. crying
And so I celebrate the Fast of Gedalia. Oh, you wild man you! That's the closest I come to rebellion sweatdrop

I was supposed go to a Tu b'Shvat seder on Sunday at the home of my best friend and her family. However, her brother called at the last minute and asked her to come to his place so the family could belatedly fete her birthday, which he thought would be a wonderful surprise. So she schlepped her food over there and had her birthday and the birthday for the trees, all at the same time.
My bashert and I stayed home, ate fruit, and marveled at how cute family think they are when they disrupt plans that were a month in the making. Seriously, they could have called ahead and asked if she had Tu b'Shvat plans.
