 Haru sighed as he lay down in the shade of the trees. He had been walking all day, but still hadn't found anything fun to do. Looking up through the branches, he saw that it was about mid day from where the sun hung in the sky. He rolled over on to his back, grunting when a rock wedged itself between his spine and grass. He shifted a little to get more comfortable, and closed his eyes to daydream.

 The nearly pure white female hadn’t traveled far yet, she always had troubles on warm day. Her heavy thick fur was meant for snow and cold not the warmth of summer days. Though even in the warmth of summer she still carried the green and red scarf she’d gotten as a child. She’d had to stop several times since she had continued on her travels that morning and now she was dry with thirst and didn’t know where to look for water.
Panting Noel pushed herself from under a shade tree and starting to walk once more. This was one of the bad things about never staying in one place for to long, you never knew where you would find water or food when you arrived somewhere new. She wondered from one tree to the next, and though it meant she would walk longer she still got the cool refresh of the air that hide in the shade. Reaching yet another tree she stopped just at the edge of the shade it was providing and stared at the Ulaya laying there. At least, he looked like a Ulaya, but it was a little hard to tell with him wearing all that stuff. Tilting her head she stepped closer, he seemed to be asleep and didn’t move just yet. Moving just close enough that when she stretched her neck out she could sniff at him, she did so.

Haru felt something like the wind tickling his nose, and sneezed from the itchiness of it. He opened his eyes in surprise, and yelped as he was brought out of his daydreams by a pair of huge green eyes. He wiggled his body backwards so he wasn't so close, and studied this new creature.
He knew it was one of his own kind, but he wondered why it kept its face hidden from view. He gave the air a little sniff, and determined that this Ulaya must be female. She didn't look particularly dangerous, and her stance was relaxed. He sighed, and introduced himself. "You sure gave me a scare there... I'm Haru."

Noel held back a soft laugh at his actions and words. She hadn’t meant to frighten him but she could why she had frightened him. She smiled softly, though it wouldn’t be seen from beneath the scarf. Sitting herself down in the shady spot he had just been resting she spoke in a gentle tone of voice. “ I’m sorry. ” Her voice slightly muffled by the fabric, though she could be heard with easy by any good Ulaya ears. “ I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m Noel ”

He picked himself up and stretched out his muscles, trying to waken his body a little more. He looked up at the sky to see how long he had been asleep. Not too bad then. He thought. It had only been about an hour since he started his little nap. "That's alright." Haru replied. "If I may ask, what are you doing all the way out here? I thought I would be the only one." He looked at the other Ulaya, this... Noel. She did look rather strange with her face covered like that, but he was sure he must look just as strange with his own garments.

She watched him, still curious about the garments he wore, but she didn’t want to be rude and ask question about them. The thought of how warm he must be in them made her glad her parents had never had her wear such things with her already think fur. “ I’m traveling, actually at the moment I was looking for water. I’ve never been to this area before, I actually think I might have gotten a little lost to be truthful. Though I guess you can’t really get lost when you’re just wondering. ” She looked around a moment before her emerald eyes returned to the male. “ I’m sorry if I bothered you though. I wanted to take a moment to cool in the shade and saw you. I can go if you'd like? ”

Haru blinked in surprise at what Noel said. "Oh no, I didn't mean to give that impression. I think I would actually like some company." He smiled at her reassuringly. "So where did you come from?"

Smiling back she nodded and chose to remain seated. “ I come from up North, from a place my parents called the snow valleys, though I’m not sure if that was there real names. Much colder then, almost always snow. Not like here, so to warm here how can you stand it? ”

Chuckling to himself, Haru replied. "I was going to ask about the scarf wrapped around you. I am a little warm with my coat on, but it's not that bad once you get used to it."
Haru walked a couple of steps in Noel's direction, pausing about 5 feet from her. "Why did you come all the way out here from your homeland?"

She nodded to his comment about the coat, and remained still as he moved closer to her. But as he asked the question of why she had come here, why she’d left her homeland, her eyes went distant for a moment. Blinking only a few seconds later though she smiled and shrugged. “ Wanted a change of scenery, snow is nice but after time it does get old. ” She took a moment to glance around before looking back at him with a sudden subject change. “ Ummm, where is the nearest water? ”

"Oh, water? I can show you if you'd like." Haru turned to the north and then looked back at Noel. "It's this way, not that far. Are you thirsty, or did you want to go for a swim?" He grinned.

Ears perking up, Noel smiled at his words and grin. “ Oh, I’d love to go for a swim, it would be so refreshing and cool. Back home the thick fur was good for the cold weather but here it’s dreadfully hot sometimes. But honestly I could use a drink to. ” She stood looking in the direction he had motioned to as she stretched. “ I’ve like if you showed me though, if you don‘t mind. ”

"Sure thing, follow me!" He chuckled a little, and then started to trot towards the river he new that wasn't more than a mile away.
Looking back to make sure she would keep up with him, he called to her, "Want to race?"

Following just off to one side on him she was no more then two steps behind. It was a fairly open area, with only a few trees here and there, but she didn’t wanted to limit the chance that she might loss him. Her eyes moved around the landscape a moment before she look to him, blinking at his question before a grin came over her face and she nodded. “ Sure! ” Without a seconds delay she had jolted forwards, top speed. Though careful not to raise any dust as she bolted past him in her burst of movement. She just hoped that the area they where heading for was straight ahead.

He watched her shoot ahead of him for a second in disbelief. Well I did say race... it's your own fault for not running faster. He told himself. "Hey!!" He yelled up to her playfully, moving himself up to a dead run. Hopefully he could beat her there. After a minute, he hadn't gained much ground on her. He did gain a tiny bit though. It wouldn't be enough to beat her to the lake though. It wasn't far enough away. They should actually be coming up to it very soon.
