This year, in honor of Gaia's fifth anniversary, we're taking the site back to its roots. We've been planning out a lot of ideas for the anniversary in February, but one that really stuck with us was the fact that users judge one another too easily based on what items are equipped to an avatar.
In order to participate in the event, we were thinking of "taking away" every users inventory for the duration of the event. If all users looked the same, in simple peasant clothes, starter sets or even their undies, the judging (or lack thereof) would allow the community to become closer and to not disallow certain members just because they wear certain items.
Don't get us wrong, you will still gain event items through participating, and this is not to show that we don't like items. It just means we're bringing back memories of a Gaia that once was, and remembering these five years past for what we really started Gaia for. An online community. To be friends and to not judge one another so harshly.
Do not worry about your current inventories. You will get them back once the event is over. We appreciate all the user's who have supported us over the years, and we hope to continue receiving that support. Who knows, perhaps giving up your inventory for an event will gain you a little more respect. wink
