Writer's Challenge

NSA POSSIBILITY Erol's band is playing in a club this weekend and somehow news of this got out to our dear supers-to-be. Unfortunately, it's a 21+ club (Erol's special and they let him in anyway), so MOST of our characters aren't up to the correct age.... But Erol is A) one of the older trainees who's been on missions, and that's SUPER AWESOME!! or B) Really fun to torture-tease or C) Super cute (but, sshhh....) or D) playing your kinda music. Other than Kuu, two NSA writers may jump on this opportunity. This one may end up being entirely PC character run, it may end up with NPCs involved. If people want to jump on the bandwagon here and don't know how to start, I'll start it up for you, but I'm not promising involvement.

In regards to the above challenge, this will be the thread in which you can play. My next post will be the opening. Participants involved are listed below. If you would like to participate, PM Super Secret Helper and make a note in the main thread.

NPCs: Cori Daytona, Tristan Danders, and Taz Malik; all of which are Erol's band members and Manager. Any outside NPCs are welcome to players.

PCs: Erol (Kuuro Kitten), Raleigh (Ruriska), LoQuinn (Lufa)

EARLIER IN THE DAY
-------------

"Yo! Roll what are you doing over there?"

Erol looked up as his nickname was called, noting one of his band members, Taz making an entrance. "Yo, Taz how's it going?" He asked looking at all the wiring and equipment fallen at his feet. "I'm just trying to get things together for tonight but man this place has less outlet plugs and more wires then I know what to do with."

Taz chuckled taking a look around before a wicked smirk etched across his face. "Not a problem. You just stand back and let me do this. We don't want anyone catching on fire during the show. And with you're luck with electrical things lately it's liable to happen."

Erol glared, though he backed off shortly after. "It wasn't my fault. I don't know what happened?" He lied.

"Yeah well... " Taz trailed off as he got into his work, blocking out any comments he would have made at this point.

Erol was fine with that. He didn't want to go into detail as to what had happened the last time. Incidentally, his powers had found the need to let off some steam without his doing and just his luck that it let off a EMP wave. He hadn't learned about this until Rayborn had given him some information on the type of wave. It was the first he'd ever heard and from that point on he had to be very careful around electric equipment. Too much exposure and he tended to distort the functionality. With all that was going on later that night he didn't want to screw this one up with his haywire abilities.

For the most part, the day was spent in preperations. Testing of equipment and props and a few rehersal runs. When the remaining bands got there, they also checked equipment and rehearsed a few songs. After which all bands took off for the rest of the day to rest or catch up on some mid-day fun.

THAT EVENING
-----------

Finally, time had rolled around and Erol had managed to finish up some much needed work throughout the day. Some such crap dealing with NSA that he could have done with out. On the flip side he turned in a project for school, and managed to contact Wesley on a few matters concerning his friend. Ray was on the fast track to recovery, too bad he couldn't be here.

Checking out the growing crowed from behind the curtains, Erol let out a whoop of excitement. His band would be up last, while the new blood warmed up the crowd. "You guys ready?" He asked the others as they were all making last minute checks on their equipment.

"Yep. But I'm not staying back here while the bands are playing. I'm going to mingle with the crowd. You know where to find me..." The chocolaty voice of Cori Daytona their keyboardist and female lead, had spoken then. She giggled lightly before slipping out of sight.

"Hey! Don't get drunk we need you as sober as possible up there tonight!" Erol called but she was already out of earshot. It didn't matter she was responsible and the oldest of the group outside of Rayborn; who was only management anyway. "So what do you guys wanna do while we wait?"

"Maybe Cori had a good ideas. We can't be cooped up back here all night. There's at least three bands before us and they all got a pretty beefy line up. Let's just go out and meet the fans." Tristan, the drummer and background vocalist, was next to speak up.

"I'm with Trist and seeing as how I'm old enough to take down a few beers I'm not letting my mouth go parched for you young bucks." Taz the bass guitarist and second male vocalist chimmed in then. "Besides, I'm a model, there's not a girl out there that wouldn't give her right arm to mingle with me." He winked taking off after Cori with a delighted squeal.

Both Tristan and Erol rolled their eyes. "So what if we are under age. We can still drink." Tristan pouted, Erol only chuckled. He liked beer himself but didn't have to drink to have a good time.

"I'll be back in a bit. I need a smoke."

"Those things are going to kill ya."

"That may be but I got far deadlier things trying to kill me right now." Erol chuckled. He watched his friend questioning him before shrugging and heading off after the other two band members. Sighing, Erol made his way to the back door. Sticking a brick in the door to keep from locking himself out he quickly went to work. Pulling out a cig and lighting it he took a long drag before blowing it out into the air. His cell went off just then. Taking a look he was surprised at who was on the caller ID.

"Rayborn! What are you doing?"

"Nothing man, just eating some hospital food. How you keeping up?"

"I'm fine. Just a bit nervous before we go on."

"Well that's normal. So did you tell them about what happened?" Ray inquired about the incident with Mudslide.

"No. They think it's a car accident."

"How is that?"

"Your car was crushed under all the mud. It was the only excuse I could give after the clean up crew salvaged what they could. I don't know if they are ready yet."

"You keep waiting and they'll find out sooner or later. You better hope it's not under strained circumstances or you can kiss your singing days goodbye. You know how they feel about Evolveds?"

"Yeah I know. That's why I can't tell them yet." Erol took another puff of his cigeratte before tossing it to the ground to stub it with his shoe. "When you getting out?"

"Got a few weeks. Busted ribs and all that jazz. I'm going to take this vacation, thank you very much." Rayborn snorted into the phone with a mild sense of humor.

"I told you to get your a** outta there. Next time listen to me. I don't want to go through that kind of heartache again."

"I got ya. Just have a good show tonight. I got a friend recording it for me so don't worry, I won't miss a thing."

"It's not the same."

"I know. See ya."

"Bye." Hanging up the phone the sound of the first band being introduce brought Erol back to the present. "Well it's show time." He glared at the sky realizing how cliche that was but as long as no one knew about it. Forgetting to take the brick from out of the door he entered, leaving the back entrance open for all to see.

Apparently the bouncers at the front were a lot smarter than Raleigh had originally expected them to be. Well, maybe not smart, just owning a desire not to screw up their job. You had to give them credit, their persistence was admirable. If even pretty little blondes couldn’t make it in without a form of ID, what chance did Raleigh have?

“I’m twenty-one.”

“Prove it.”

“I don’t have my ID with me.”

“Then you don’t get in.”

Raleigh was persistent too and continued to argue his point, no matter that he was actually lying, until he was given a firm hand on the shoulder. He got the hint after that, figuring seeing Erol performing wasn’t worth a black eye.

Wandering away from the club, Raleigh leant against the side of a building and thought. There had to be another way in. Hmph, why was he even bothering? He had been rather amused when he’d randomly been handed a flyer in the street, proclaiming that Erol and his band would be playing. He had figured that his 'rival's band was just some silly teenage we-have-too-much-free-time thing.

It had been a spur of the moment decision to actually go and that proceeded an annoying three hours trying find some clothes that would actually fit into the club scene. He couldn’t exactly go there in a crappy training track suit, which was pretty much all he actually owned.

He had eventually settled on a pair of black jeans and a red sleeveless denim-shirt that would show off his muscles. Black boots, his silver chain around his neck, a ruby earring and a black belt completed the accessories. Ra braided his hair loosely and then gave himself a once over. Well, he could fit in well enough and he didn't look half bad really.

Too bad about the age restriction. Still, there were ways around everything.

Something brushed against his leg and tugged at the hem of his jeans. Ra cast a quick look down.

“Well, did you find a way in?”

The little wooden mouse-shape creation began to lead the way, keeping close to the shadows as not to be noticed.

Perfect. Somebody had left the back door open.

“Well done. Off you go.” Raleigh nudged the mouse wit his mouse and it fell apart into a pile of twigs.

Looking inside, he made sure the coast was clear and then ghosted in, leaving the door open behind him for any other enterprising individuals.

Ooc: Hope this is alright. XD Er, Ra always seems to end up wearing red and black. >.>; Lack of imagination for the win.

Eyes front, chin up. LoQuinn stood in line eying the fake ID he'd acquired from the yearbook club during his last year of high school. The face looking back at him was somewhat stern, the classic mug shot styled smile the DoL loved to take moments before something decent could have been obtained. He was Robert Kensy for tonight, a twenty-two year old for festivities purposes. Probably the best hundred dollars he’d ever spent. Not a terribly big stretch on the imagination, he saw plenty of youthful faces around him and didn’t give it a second thought. Either he’d get in or he wouldn’t and it wasn’t like he had any intention of drinking.

All things considered he looked a great deal different than his true self. He'd let his hair down, and donned a more casual style of dress. Then again he wasn't vying for the public eye tonight, he didn't need neons and accessories. He did however keep his boots, and had black half rim glasses that hid his eyes, a poor substitute in his mind for goggles but he doubted there would be abrasives flying through the air tonight. That was unless the bands overworked their crowd, which would be cause for him to leave. The very last thing on his mind was being forced to explain or even listen to Charles about how he’d gotten himself arrested so early into his stay with the NSA.

He grumbled to himself about a dumb-a** at the front of the line. Bouncers were the quality control of the whole nighttime entertainment industry. Their word was law and unless you had the cash or the connections to bypass the system you were s**t outta luck. Thankfully the person soon stepped out of line, apparently accepting their fate. LoQuinn had seen people argue, bargain and try all sorts of emotional junk to get in. All of it was pointless really because someone had to be utterly brain dead if they didn’t bring ID to a twenty-one and up show. The line moved up another few feet and his mind moved on.

I’m Robert. My address is 1324 Willowby road. Yes I’m an organ donor. My birthdate is – another step forward as he drilled over the questions they would likely use to help confirm a suspected fake. They almost never asked for eye color at night shows. Not only was it too dark to tell but also contacts and glasses negated any chance for proper identification. He popped his head around someone’s shoulder to check his distance from the entrance and figured on another five minutes before he’d manage to get inside. Hopefully he wouldn’t miss the opening set.

The atmosphere was getting warmed up, everyone that had come early where already on their second or third drinks while new patrons hurried to get their first drinks at the bar. Bouncers were doing their jobs outside, turning all those that were under age away. Some with fake IDs got tossed away just as quickly. While a select few managed to get in with a little extra help from old Ben.

Even so, the first band had jumped up on stage, screaming out their warm welcomes. The crowd cheered with them bringing the atmopshere to a high pitch. Erol on the other hand hurried to the bar to grab a bear before making his way to the second deck. There it was closed off for band members and the usual groupies and roadies. A select few others were allowed in but usually because of their connections with someone already inside.

Taking his place at the back of the top deck, Erol found his band mingling with a group he'd never seen before. "What are ya'll up to?" He questioned finding a seat next to his band member Cori. She gave him a lopsided grin before leaning over to give him an earful.

"Man you don't want to be here. Mr. Casanova over here is already drunk and trying to win over the girls, he's blowing it though."

Erol laughed, Taz was known for his womanizing ways, but he had a legit profession outside of his night time gigs with them. "Yeah well, tell him to sober up before we go on. I don't want to have to prop him up like a puppet."

Cori laughed nodding at that. "Sure thing. Who's playing?"

"I think its those Pink Panty people... they got a solid vocalist down there. She's hot too." The sound of the music came in through the speakers set out over the club.

Cori sat up a little to listen and nodded her head in agreement. "Yeah she is hot."

"That's not what I meant and you know it Cori." Erol reprimanded.

"Yeah well she's got a chocolate silk voice. So I can imagine she's got the body and face to go with it. Now get your head outta the clouds. Focus man; and don't drink any more beers. You know how that stuff dries you up."

"Yeah yeah.. I'm going down to mingle."

"Alright. Don't get lost."

With that, Erol made his way back to the first level. Weaving through the throngs of people that were hooping and hollering along with the songs being played. None of them were actually singing but then it didn't matter. The atmosphere was kicking off nicely tonight, by the time his group went up to play, everyone should be about half out their mind drunk and ready to really get hyped. He hoped no one would get the notion to start a brawl. The last time that happened he had to intentionally stop the party with an unsuspecting quake.

As he wandered the crowd he eyed everyone having fun, dancing, singing, and raising their glasses to the sky as they got into the mood. A wry smile came to his lips at the look on everyone's faces. This was the one place he could kick back and relax, be himself and not so damn moody all the time. He cut loose himself heading for the dance floor as the group on stage pelted out some serious hard rock.

(( Good luck getting in Lufa ..heeh. I'm gonna leave it up to you like Ruri did with her post. ))

Ooc: Lufa, feel free to post before me, if I take too long with my next post. XP

Um yeah, sorry for the wait, and the somewhat shitty post. xD

Ic:

Lucky there as nobody else around. As he stood there, the first band started, the music pounding in his chest like an extra heartbeat, ridiculously loud as far as he was concerned. But then, this was club, what else had he expected? Giving a quick look around at the room his was in, he then made his way to the closest door, opening it slowly and peeking out. Which way genius?

It seemed like the best bet would be to follow the music to where it was the loudest. Ra only hoped it wouldn’t be too hard to slip into the main area of the club. Stepping around some cables and musical equipment, he attempted to look like he belonged there. What was Erol’s group called again? Unforgiving soldiers? Pouring Unfortunate Soil?

Poor unfortunate Souls? That was it! … who the heck had come up with that name anyway?

If anybody asked, was now the co-manager of Erol’s band. Good luck pulling that one off, eh?

The time passed with anxious anticipation, he could hear the sound checks and the warming notes that began to pump through amps and speakers. He was going to miss part of the performance and well, that wasn't acceptable. However he found himself standing before the bouncer looking a touch less composed than he'd intended. He wanted in, perhaps too much and that would smell fishy to anyone who actually cared about keeping minors out.

The bouncer gave him a quick up and down and LoQuinn quickly pulled his wallet out before being asked. Making one's job easy often garnered some sort of positive reaction in return, it was simply how any service industry worked. A few seconds later the bouncer was scanning over the plastic ID and then back over LoQuinn a second time for confirmation.

"Alright." the man said passing the forgery back. He stepped aside and allowed access as LoQuinn placed the card back into his wallet and stowed the piece of leather. And just that easy he'd made his way in.

The music was par what he'd imagined. There was a great deal of wiggle room when it came to LoQuinn's taste in music. If there was one thing that he could definitely find joy in it was that out of four band sets there would likely be a few songs he'd enjoy.

Erol was in the mood tonight, letting his feet move him with the sound of the beat. He had found a dance partner somewhere along the line, and the girl was getting a little personal than he was comfortable with but he didn't mind so much. As long as she was having fun and he could keep his dignity in it, he'd dance all night. Eventually the song had come to its final chorus as the lead pelted out a decent guitar rift. Everyone turned to listen and then whooped uproarishly when he finished off.

Bowing the lead began talking to the crowd hyping them up more. While he did that, Erol slipped from the dance floor using the break to get some refreshments. It was quite crowded and hardly a thing anyone could do about it, so he weaved, ducked and excused himself through the crowd the best he could. Thankful no one actually paid attention to who he was. Only a select few hardcore fans would know him and it was better to keep the fame at a minimum... at least for now. He couldn't balance being an underground rock star while working with NSA in the public eye.

A good portion of the underground crowd had it out for Evos. He had heard way too many stories that hit home. Though despite their hatred he didn't hate anyone more than he did the situation he and his kind were in. His mind so caught up in thought, Erol hadn't been paying much attention as he was bumped by a particularly rowdy part of the crowd. He went at a fluid speed toward and open spot.. he would have spilled onto the floor but was caught unsuspectingly by another.

Taking a moment to get his barings he gathered to his feet checking his threads before turning to see who his savor had been. Brown eyes widened at the last person he expected to see. "What the hell are YOU doing here?!" He pointed incredously.

(( Tag for either of you... who have gets to it first is fine by me. ))

Raleigh had finally slipped into the main club area and was now fighting panic. He hated ******** crowds. With a fair amount of grace he slipped between all the dancing, laughing people. This was not anything he was even remotely used to and it was making him nervous, and as the music only seemed to get louder, he grew a little clumsier by each second. It had been so long since he had been in this sort of situation.

Ignoring the annoyed grumbles, Raleigh became an immovable object within the flood of people. He crossed his arms over his chest and willed himself to relax. A long time ago this would have been the perfect place for him, where he would have gone completely unnoticed, able to take what he needed to survive without being caught. Still, even then he had relished his time alone.

A number of dancers had definitely begun encroaching upon his personal space, so Raleigh quit reminiscing and began moving along again, this time in a calmer state of mind. His gaze flitted back and forth, not quite sure what he was looking for. He would need to find a place close to the stage so that he would be able to see Erol when he appeared on stage, that much he knew.

He was glaring at a scantily clad young woman who had dared to get too close when somebody nearby stumbled. Raleigh moved on instinct, moving and catching the person before he hit the floor. Holy s**t. As Erol stood up on his own two feet, Ra recognized him and spent a moment in stunned disbelief. But he recovered quickly, placing a devilish smirk on his lips as Erol finally caught on.

“What, I’m not allowed to be here?”

Ha. Well, he hadn’t expected to bump into Erol out here. Lady luck must like me tonight.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 4:42 pm

He could only snort and glare but eventually a smile etched his lips. Raleigh seemed to have a few sneaky bones in his body after all. "Punk." He breathed certain the boy wouldn't hear over the roar of the music but he wouldn't put it past him if he did.

"Come on." He said, snagging Ra by the arm as he dragged the other from the dance floor toward the bar. "You want something to drink?" He asked. "I could get you some ill-drinks if you want." He said slipping further from the crowd rounding the bar to where only a select few were sitting it was typically called the losers corner but Erol didn't care. He liked the reprivie from all the noise and bumping around. Being caught once out of the day was all he would allow.

LoQuinn's neck relaxed, his posture slipped as he made his way into the nightclub. He didn't have to pretend to be anything anymore, he just had to let the music fill him. It was like laying on a beach, allowing the surf to crash over him as the band played their set. He drifted a few feet closer to the speakers shifting his focus from the actual sound to the vibrations. His organs quivered ever so slightly the satisfying feeling that was on part with a low altitude flyby from a fighter jet.

It wasn't death metal but it was something he could put his boots to and he did, his head beginning to pick up the motion. His skin raised into goosebumps and his lips spread thin across his face. The chain reaction had begun, there was no stopping it now.

Raleigh had expected a bit more of an argument… or at least more annoyance on Erol’s part, but instead he found himself dragged off the dance floor and into a blessedly quieter corner. After a quick look around the area, which seemed to be filled predominately with rather pathetic looking figures, Raleigh found a seat and plopped himself down. This wasn't bad.

“I’m right.” He said regarding the drink offer and then leant back on his chair, eyes still roaming around and watching any nearby people. Evntually he looked back at Erol and smirked. “I’m here to see you can actually carry a tune… not that that seems to be a requirement to be allowed to sing here.”

Erol huffed making his way toward Raleigh with virgin drinks and shoving one at him anyway. "Shut up..." he barked though there was merriment in his voice. He didn't particularly care if anyone thought he could sing or not, it was just being on stage that gave him the freedom and peace of mind he needed. Nothing else mattered.

"We'll see what you think after my act. Unfortunately, you gotta wait until the next few bands finished." Though at that moment the first band was finishing with their final song, everyone throwing down on the dance floor to a rather loud skreeching tune. Erol preferred real music to that, but anything with a decent tune was alright by him.

He took a seat next to Ra, downing his drink in a few gulps. Had to keep the whistle wet for his performance. Though he was quite curious. "How'd you find out?" He questioned, despite keeping this part of his life a secret from NSA for a while now somehow Raleigh had found out. He had to know and wondered who else knew about it? Would Charlies forbid his playing if they found out? A sudden change in his mood was noticeable through his constant figgeting with his glass. He didn't want to give this up.. not for anyone or anything... especially NSA. He'd sooner give up the hero business if they even so much as hinted at it.

Raleigh took the drink in his hands and began swirling it back and forth. At Ruri’s prompting (proving just how responsible she could be as a guardian) he had gotten himself drunk on his fifteenth birthday. It hadn’t exactly been a good experience. Wile Ra couldn’t remember very much, apparently he had gotten into a fistfight with the guy next door and then spent five hours laughing uncontrollably.

Cringing a little as the last band ended its turn with a round of screeching that reminded him of an angry cockatoo, Ra waited until it was over before answering. “I have great psychic powers.” Ra joked, not failing to notice Erol’s change in mood. He cast a glance sideways and then took a sip from his drink. “I went for a walk and someone handed me a flyer. Your face was plastered all over it.”

He tapped the side of his glass thoughtfully. “I didn’t tell anyone where I was going.”

Erol nodded as relief washed over him. As long as no one else knew then he would be fine. Unless Ra wanted something from him, he had nothing to worry about. "Yeah." He said possibly thanking the other.

"Want to me my band?" He questioned looking out over the sea of people. The next band was getting on stage and didn't waste any time working their magic as some nice sultry tunes filled the establishment. A pretty decent looking girl was on stage ringing in the guys as she danced and carried on.

Erol chuckled shaking his head as he stood. "Come on. They're upstairs. Its not as crowded up there. And you can see the stage much better." He offered.
