Large, swift paws blessed the darkened grass as the black wild dog swept across the hushed floor that came with the coming of night. His tail swung madly behind him and his expression coupled with the gaze upon his eyes seemed to imply that he was on the hunt for something, though he had anything but food in mind in his search...
Nothing could tell where this black beast had come from, nor what his previous experiences had wrought upon him. The only telltale signs giving a small clue were the two scarred slashes he bore on his nose bridge and the superiority ingrained in his look.
His dark coat matched the night's, almost blending into his surroundings, but his sharp red eyes gave hint to a far greater force hidden amongst the blackened atmosphere--a force not to be tolerated with. Dirt sunk in when heavy pads came upon them, and the usual sound of pattering through the grounds was hushed as the wild dog took care in silencing himself more. He had sensed something else in his vicinity; he could tell it was not one of those good-for-nothing lions; it was something more... familiar, he could sense. A calm, sly smile came to rest on his face as his pace quickened doubly as he found himself drawn closer to the origin of the scent's disturbance in the fresh night air. Nothing could have possibly heard or seen him, as he was as silent as when one would be when tracking a suitable prey.

Lete' on the other hand was completely unaware of the dark figure that lurked around him, so he continued strolling and walking as if his life were perfectly balanced. His eyes gazed above him at the heightened stars, and he was smiling while idly wasting time since his traveling companion wandered away from him. Kiji was off doing her own business, and Lete said that he would happily wait around until she was finished. The brown dog had no trouble keeping himself happy or busy, and he was quite content with his quiet and serene surroundings.
He had to admit though, it did feel a bit lonely. He enjoyed having company, especially when it was dark out. The brown male frowned for a moment while lowering himself to the ground, since moving around wasn't going to get him anywhere. Instead, Lete rolled onto his back so that he could get a better view of the stars. The grass and small pebbles underneath him was uncomfortable at first, but the male wagged his tail happily at his newfound view of the sky. He was so easily amused, and he wondered how long the sky would distract him from his boredom.

It only took a few more strides towards the blissful, unaware other for the overgrown canine to capture sight of a different wild dog. In his observation, he was disappointed to find the other dog immersed completely in another world, ground to its back, for it displayed such an embarrassing sign of weakness in front of the black figure amidst the grasses.
It had seemed like the creatures he had been running into were, aside from the usual cloven prey, either overconfident lions or his own kind that suffered from apparent carelessness. He sighed disapprovingly as he brushed the tall grass aside, revealing himself to the tan and brown stranger; he figured he had half of a chance now to be acknowledged even, with the second dog's nonexistent observation.
"Don't value your life now, do you?" he voiced harshly, making his big, rugged self known. It was not meant as a threat; but rather, an inquiry as to why the other had thrown himself into such a vulnerable state, especially in a lone clearing in the darkness.
"But I suppose we all have our moments at one time or another. I'll take that."
He strode over so that he was now sort of hovering above the other wild dog that was on his back, offering a smart, domineering smirk.

The other dog's appearance was shocking for a moment, but Lete' only lowered his ears and stared while taking in his words. The dark one was intimidating at first glance, but Lete' was careful to act unphased. He already was on his back, looking as weak as could be. But when did Lete' care anyhow? If others wanted to judge him for what he wasn't, he was fine with that. But still.. this male was something, wasn't he?
"I value my life very much, thank you." he then said, while rolling himself up and onto his paws. Once he was somewhat standing, he felt better knowing that his height was not much different from that of the darker dog's. "I was just enjoying myself, if that is the moment you were commenting on." he paused slightly, before looking back into the other's red eyes. "What about you? Is that not something you do?"
Lete' was as carefree as could be, so his priorities were much different then others. He took life as it came, allowing each day to bring a new adventure, or even a new friend along the way.
The air around the two of them was tense, but Lete' was once again too happy to notice. He instead was more amused by the scary figure that was encircling him, and he wondered what his purpose was in watching his playfulness. "Do I amuse you, then?" That was all he could guess...

Once the other wild dog had gotten up, the black canine straightened himself out, also while taking a few steps back to make sure that a fine, comfortable space laid between the two. His larger than average size was now more noticeable than how he had been when he had hunched over to get a look at the other brown dog's face. Despite his imposing form, he offered a sly smile in efforts to be friendly.
"I do enjoy myself, but I do not expose myself for all the things in this savanna to attack, dear friend," he offered. "My apologies for disturbing that, then... Perhaps you should get back to it, there is no more use for one such as yourself, I regret to inform." He shook his head so slightly in disappointment that it might have not been observed by the other wild dog. But almost as soon as he had done that, he seemed to go back on his judgment and looked back at the figure before him.
"Some sort of a jester would be nice in my court, yes, though I can hardly tempt myself for things of that nature--things that stray from what I am meant to be capable of, at least... Do you know of any others like us, though?" the large wild dog asked casually. Even if the one in front of him proved to be weak in his eyes, if the stranger knew of others...

"I've never been attacked." he then said, with a confident grin. "I goof around all day and night, and still I live with no scars or pains. Just happiness." Apparently he and this other dog were quite different in terms of life enjoyment, though Lete decided not to worry about such a minor detail. Everyone was allowed to have their own opinions.
He did wonder about one thing, though. What was this fellow so capable of? "I don't know of others since I am not sure of your capabilities. Do you mind explaining those a bit, and then maybe I can help with what I know?" He gave a hopeful nod since he felt bad that he was confused by the other's words. He thought everyone was capable personally, but apparently in this guy's eyes that sort of thing was false.
"I'm also interested to see if I could ever be capable myself." Heh, now THAT would be amusing.

Just happiness? the phrase echoed in the black wild dog's mind. Who was the other to define happiness? Happiness by means of having no hardships, goals, struggles, or obstacles in life was simply meaningless. There is in happiness in that.
"You are lucky, then, my young apprentice," he humorously offered, "To not know what predicaments you can get yourself in, to live life without thinking one could possibly have the most minute chance of being endangered in any way... I offer an apology, but I cannot imagine a life living that way. One can only hope you don't get someone else in trouble by allowing them to be influenced by you. You might need to learn such things as scars and pains one day."
He didn't meant to scold the ridiculous canine, but it simply frustrated him that this one would prove to be useless on his side--at least from this impression. But then, upon receiving the other's talk of being capable, he was interested once more.
"Hmm, you cannot disclose information because you do not know me?" He paused before going on without receiving confirmation, "I completely understand! Ah, how observant. I do respect the observers. Allow me to introduce myself--I am Nkosi, and perhaps one day you will learn more of me by travel of wind. I have been training for... many years... for what I will soon be, which is simply--ah--an influence to those like us--like you. I am glad you offered your aid, canine. And as for your interest, perhaps you do possess a calculating mind that if harnessed, can be useful, hmm?"
Nkosi smiled and asked, "Need more explanation?"
