 Cordelia was skirting just beyond the territory she knew to be claimed by her younger cousin. She considered visiting though she doubted Hazalinia would remember her. It didn't help that Haz was mostly nocturnal and Cordi prefered her time in the sun. It was too beautiful a day to complicate with family issues she finally decided and took off in the opposite direction at a brisk trot. She always enjoyed a good run in the morning and laughed with the joy of it as the snow flew up and around her at every step.

 Hearing laughter like dozens of tiny icicles chiming in the wind, Kitsuke looked up from the stream where he had stopped to drink. He had recently left his parents' lands, intent on finding a place of his own. He loved his family, but he needed his own space, and as long as he lived too near them they would never see him as the adult he now was. So he was roaming, searching for somewhere near enough that he might still visit them, if he so chose, but would not be close enough for them to try to baby him.
He raised his nose to the wind, trying to catch the laugher's scent. they did not sound hostile, but if this was their territory, that could change once they noticed him. He decided to wait where he was, as the laughter seemed to be coming closer, rather than sneaking about as if he were doing something wrong.

The snowy kylan chose her course to end at a nearby stream but as she approached Cordi stopped short sending a little shower of snow to sparkle in the sunlight. There was no missing the other kylandrei his coloration seemed designed to stand out. Though she had never formally claimed any territory she'd been in the area for some time and had never caught wind of another kylandrei other than her cousin. With a toss of her head that caused her quills to click together she approached cautiously, very much wanting a drink; her mouth was curiously dry.

Kit breathed an internal sigh of relief. This Kylan seemed to be the one who lived in the area, judging by her reactions to him, but she did not seem hostile. Cautious maybe, but then he was a stranger, an intruder.
If she had not been moving so quickly and noisily, he might never have noticed her. Her coat blended into the snow, so that even knowing where she was he half feared that, should he look away, he would loose sight of her as long as she was still.
Kit backed out of the female's way, allowing her access to the stream without taking his eyes off her. He still was not sure what her reaction to him would be, and did not want to be seen as overly vulnerable. He waited for her to make the first move.

Cordy proceeded slowly and nodded her thanks as the male stepped aside for her to have clear access to the stream. Not quite taking her eyes off him she bent and took a quick drink. Dry throat taken care of she turned to study the stranger. He was a rather impressive sight, if she was to have unexpected company it was nice that said company made good eyecandy. "What brings you out here stranger? I know of only one kylan to claim territory nearby and she is my cousin."

Kit felt hope well in his chest. Did that mean there was empty territory in the area, too?
"I'm striking out on my own, away from my family, and looking for territory. I was hoping to find some unclaimed in the area..." He trailed off, carefully watching her reaction. Unclaimed land did not necessarily mean she or this mysterious cousin of hers would accept him as a neighbor. He would prefer not to live near those who would resent his presence.

"Getting away from family is often a good thing, more for some of us than others," she replied with a bit of bitterness in her voice. "I have no formal claim and tend to wander in this general area. I've yet to encounter any other kylans except scenting one that had passed through. Haz's staked out a cavern and a crescent shaped pond near it about a mile to the east. I acctually havn't visited, she has some issues and I don't want to freak her out on an off day. I don't think she'd acctually be outright hostile to anyone but its hard to tell."
She paused and took another drink to compose herself from the uncharacteristic babbling. Of course it had been ages since she'd been around a kylan male and she was certainly old enough to admit that some spark of attraction and nerves might be the cause.
Feeling a bit more comfortable with his actions and his reply, she looked back and smiled openly. "I'm Cordelia by the way. My parents sometimes called me Delia but I answer to Cordi as well."
((I think I'll settle to spelling Cordi with an i... sorry for any confusion switching may have caused))

"Yes. My family was very loving, but it was getting stifling. They saw me as a pup, and would as long as I continued living with them, so I had to get out. But I do love them, and am hoping to find somewhere close enough that I might visit on occasion." Kit wondered at the bitterness in her voice, but did not want to pry into a wound that did not seem quite healed.
"I might just see if I can find an appropriate bit of territory around here then. If... you don't mind, that is. This may not be your territory, as such, but you do seem to reside here, and I would not want to crowd you. My name is Kitsuke, by the way. Feel free to call me Kit."
Kit was embarrassed by his babbling and lack of manners, but was comforted by the fact that this Cordelia seemed to be having a similar problem.

"Its good to meet you Kit. I don't mind at all if you find a spot. It is really nice around here. There's this stream and a couple ponds other than Haz's. Plus I'd rather like having someone else around." She smiled at him again.

"It is good to meet you, as well. It will be nice to know I have at least one friendly neighbor." Maybe, one day, more than just neighbor. He did not allow the errant thought nor the embarrassed nervousness it caused him to show on his face.
"This seems like a pleasant area. If I can just find a nice cave for shelter from the cold, it will be perfect." After all you are here... Stop that! He berated himself. You don't even know if she might be interested. Don't push your luck. You're lucky she even wants you around.

Cordi watched him as he talked and noticed he seemed a bit thoughtful.
"There's several likely spots. I have a little place that I tend to stay in a few miles north, a hollow where a couple very big old trees fell and formed a place just enough to stay warm at night and have some food stores." It could also be right cozy with company she let herself think having to try hard not grin.

"Do you happen to know of any caves or other shelters in the area that I might use, where I would not be crowding you or your cousin?" Kit wanted to be close to her, but he did not want to make her feel uncomfortable. This way, she could indicate how close she was comfortable with. Without me having to make any embarrassing admissions.

Cordi tapped her paw as she thought about it, though she was really thinking how she could spend some more time in his company. "How about I show you around toward my place and see if you spot anything likely along the way?"

Better than he had hoped! Not only did he get to spend more time with her, but it sounded like she did not mind him being quite nearby. "Sounds perfect. If you could point out any possible dens I might miss, I would be most grateful. As you know this area better than I do."
