From one writer to another, what kind of genre do you most enjoy writing, and if not that, what kind of genre do you enjoy reading? What kind comes more naturally to you, or what kind gives you a special sort of thrill whenever you read it?
As for me, I enjoy writing horror stories the most, and reading sci-fi. ^_^

I'm one for writing anything I feel like writing. Hehe. To limit genres is to limit my inspiration, and I just don't have enough to do that.
As for what I like reading, I could say the same. I mean, I read Icewind Dale and Spartacus one after the other. It's either whatever I can lay my hands on, or whatever is thrust into them. Hehe ^_^

I like Satire. Lots and lots of satire. For both reading and writing, but I write all sorts of things regardless of my lust for parodies and satires.

Odd. My genre preferences sit at both ends of the spectrum. I tend to prefer writing fantasy, but the last time I was truly inspired, I wrote a sci-fi short. I also enjoy writing comedy, but I also tend to write somewhat bleak/dark fiction as well.

I love to read fantasy, science fiction, or psychological thrillers, and I generally write all sorts of fiction or psychological-horror stuff. I'm actually pretty bad at the latter (actually, I'm not that great at writing in general... sweatdrop ), but I'm trying to improve.

I think this is post #500 in the guild forum. xd
I like writing fantasy, but I don't really like reading a lot of it. At the moment I'm kind of stuck without a genre I really like, so I've been reading a lot of manga rather than real books. XD

Hm... I like to read everything except mystery, those books annoy me to no end. Romance novels are okay... as long as they're not too, you know, descriptive.
My writing, though, is mostly a cross between sci-fi and fantasy.

I'm generally not very picky with what I read as long as it's not your typical romance or that 'BFF' teen crap. When I write, however, I usually write horror, fantasy or sci-fi. 3nodding

I find that most of my writing is very heavy on characters and scenes, lending itself well to play/script adaptions, even though consciously, i don't really like the idea of writing them. Most of the things I write are either contemporary, or realist historical, even though i always say I'm going to get around to writing high fantasy. I've also done a romance or two, simply because chick lit always sells... heart
I read anything and everything. I'm your regular book addict. I've got two shelves crammed full of books, from fantasy over horror, through real-life biographies and historical accounts to penny romances, plays and poetry. sweatdrop

Eh - depends on my mood really. I read EVERYTHING. Now I'm picky about the authors but I read every genre.
I write fantasy, with some sci-fi, and horror.

Science Fiction and Urban Fantasy (think Neil Gaiman, and -- I'm told -- Charles De Lint) are my favorite genres. I enjoy some regular Fantasy authors (LeGuin, Tolkien, and Pratchett for instance), but it's not really my thing overall.
