This is the general area that most shinobi live. There are apartments and house buildings that dot along this neighborhood. Some of them are clan owned while others are single and family sized. There aren't many stores or other sort of offices, just living quarters for the most part.

"What do you mean there's nothing!" Shizuku's face felt hot, and she was gritting her teeth. "Reijin-kun!" She shouted, yelling at him. "What happened, to the milk?" She muttered, looking at him with piercing eyes.

Reijin winced and drew himself back, wilting under the gaze of Shizuku.
"Shizuku-chan... I am sorry, I had the rest of it last night. Don't worry, I'll go down to the village and get another carton if you like..."
He put a hand up behind his head, scratching it nervously, blushing red.

Shizuku shook a fist at him, then felt bad, and became calmed. "I'm...so sorry!" She quickly ran up to him, and embraced him gently, blushing.
"I just...love milk...save me some next time, okay?" She asked, looking at him. "Thanks Reijin-kun!" She grinned, and took a step back from him, slowly letting go of him.

Reijin patted her warmly on the back, then smiled at her when she released him.
"It's alright, Shizuku-chan. Would you like to come with me? We can stop and get something to eat while we are there..."
It was times like these that really made Reijin wonder. He never could predict how Shizuku would react to any given situation... maybe that's why he had grown fond of her. She was the exact opposite of him.

Shizuku kept the smile on her face. "Sure! I'm quite hungry Reijin-kun..." Her voice trailed off, as her stomach growled with hunger.
She couldn't ever figure out why, Reijin was different around her, he just acted, weird in her mind, when he wasn't around her. She thought his normal was around her. She never really realized her own constant moodswings and upredictable self.

Reijin smiled as he heard Shizuku's stomach rumble, and realized that his was aching too.
"Alright, let's go."
He turned and headed to the door, pocketing his change. He opened the door, holding it open for Shizuku, before heading towards the village.

"Yes!"Shizuku said happily, as he closed the door behind her. He led the way out of the building, and she followed, with her head down.

Shizuku got home first, and opened the door. Turning on the light, she took the bag of sweets in her arms. "Ahh!" She fell to her knees in pain. The bag of sweets fell from her arms, and a few pastries made its way out, rolling on the floor, and spread out before her.
"These attacks...they still...haunt me!" She held her head, feeling tears well in her eyes. They began to roll down her face as she blinked, the hot tears warming her cold skin.
She tried to shake it off, but a sudden flashback came.
"You! You are a fool...your not worthy of being called my daughter! Where have you taken your little brother?!" Her mother looked down at her.
"I hid him from you! He deserves better!" A smaller, younger Shizuku looked up at her.
"Disgrace!" She slapped her daughter hard on the face, and then punched her with full force.
Shizuku fell to floor in pain, crying, her face throbbing.

Reijin rushed to Shizuku's side, sweeping her up and bringing her close to him, holding the back of her head with his hand.
"Shizuku-chan... it's alright. I'm here... everything is going to be okay. It's all in the past now..."
He rubbed her back warmly, trying his hardest to take her mind away from those terrible memories, a deeply saddened expression on his face.

Shizuku choked on her tears trying to stop them.
"Reijin-kun..." She said quietly through her sobs.
"They come...they always...hurt me..." She wiped her face in his shirt, and leaned on him, her red eyes looking up at him.

Reijin nodded sympathetically, continuing to rub her back.
"I know... but you can't let these memories get to you. What's done is done, and there is nothing we can do about it. I know you are a good person, and I know that nothing will change that. I will always protect you. You don't have to be afraid ever again."
The shock that these words came out of his mouth nearly put Reijin to the point of tears himself. He held Shizuku tight, as if he would never let go.

"Th-thank you...Reijin-kun." Shizuku sniffled, and didn't take her gaze away from him.
"Protect me from all the evil things...all these bad memories..." Her voice trailed off. She slowly wrapped her arms around him, as he held her close.
At that moment, she knew, she really did like Reijin,probably more than he knew, and blushed at the very thought. She knew she could take his word, and nodded slowly.

Reijin nodded, a warm smile apparent on his blushed face. He rubbed her back once more, before releasing her slowly, but holding her shoulders.
"You know I will... Shizuku-chan."
He looked deep into her eyes, and tried to guess what she was thinking now. However, he couldn't read anything from her. She really did keep everything bottled up...
"If there is anything you ever need from me, you let me know. Now, what do you say we get some sleep? We should practice our techniques tomorrow, we go to the academy in a few days."
He was trying to take her mind off of the previous topic, and keep her happy. He didn't want her to be up all night because of nightmares.

"Can...I sleep with you tonight? Just in case...I get scared." Shizuku shivered at the thought, and got up, wiping her eyes in her sleeve.
She quickly picked up the food, and set it down on the table in a neat pile. "Yeah...my techniques..need some work." She let out a small giggle.
"Okay...I will, and thank you again, Reijin-kun..." She gave him a nod.
"Things don't fade away as fast as you want them too...but somethings...stay put..for awhile...like Reijin-kun." Shizuku smiled to herself at the thought, then immersed herself in other ideas.
