I have some "feeder" goldfish and a pleco Ancistrus tamboensis(i think)

I've been told that goldfish are cold water and that my pleco(named Motoko) is tropical, and therefore won't make for good tank mates. Suposedly Motoko likes 73.4-82.4°F and the feeders like 68 to 75°F preferably.

I figure that if I keep the temperature in the low 70s everyone should be fine.

How does that sound?

I really don't know much about tropical fish, but I do keep my Comets (aka feeders) at 72-74F (~21-23C) Range and they seem to enjoy it more than the usual room temp which is like...60F, since its winter here.
BTW you got some nice Comets. I got that white and red one in my house, its not doing too good right now. I think it has dropsy or something crying But I have three other plain orange ones. (Fred George and Bobbert)

i covered this topic in your other post, but as has been stated, the goldies need to be in cooler watter, and a much larger tank or pond to be kept happy, as they are large waist producers and the comets you have will easily reach 1.5 to 2 feet in length. For your Pleco , it will nees warmer watter, goldfish and plecos only have about 3 degrees in common in their temperature range and that is very difficult to maintain. Plecos are also sensitive to the water quality, and need clean water and a strong current to live happily. i say put the goldies in the pond and keep the pleco (which will get around 18 inches and poo A LOT!) in the tank you have now with maybe a school of small tetras or something(neons would work, about 6 of them. They stay small) . It would also be a good idea to add another filter to the tank to keep it cleaner and add more current for the pleco. I hope I've been helpful
