Talking with the Mother-in-law
It was a dull rainy day in Feral Clan territory. Any banthi that wasn't out hunting was huddled inside around the fire to shield themselves from the wind and rain. Alphonse was one of them. Despite the fact he couldn't feel the cold, rain was never a good thing for him. If a few droplets happened to wash away the blood-seal on his armor than he would simply cease to exist.
So he stayed inside and sat near the fire, his gigantic bulk glowing in the flickering light. It had been a few days since he had seen Tokala and he was beginning to get worried. The metal banthi had finally come back to see her and be with her and now SHE was gone. He didn't blame her though... he wasn't exactly good company.
The eye openings in his helmet were solid black and empty, the white glowing orbs normally seen gone as he sunk himself back into the cold metal shell he was imprisoned in.

Cristata walked out from a hall looking around, there was a little coonfox somewhere and she was trying to find him. Assured he was playing a game with her and somewhere inside, she didn't get too caught up in her hunt. Seeing Al, she smiled and apporached. Remembering how much cubs liked to hide in and around the metal banthi, she asked him, "Hello, Al, how are you? Have you seen a little two tailed coonfox around here anywhere?" She wasn't concerned, just playing the game along with her new cub. Tal hadn't taken him again, because she had left completely and Tobias was with her when she woke up after hearing the good bye.
She was worried about her daughter, but couldn't let it get at her too much, she had to look after her new cubs.

"Huh?" The male sprung to life like a toy soldier, the glowing orbs suddenly appearing and the metal of his body clattering to life. "Oh, hello." He said in his young, kind voice - something that was strange hearing from such a large fierce looking banthi. "I'm okay, just kinda waiting for the rain to stop... wondering where Tal is..." He trailed off.
"Two-tailed coonfox?" He asked, unblinking. "I don't think so... why?" After a moment he put two and two together. "Did you have more cubs?"

Although she had grown used to Al, it was still something near startling to see the metal banthi suddenly light up, whites to appear in what were empty spaces. Her ears moved around a little, but the fox banthi was settled and she sat down for a chat. Softly, she told him, "I don't know where she is, besides that she has left the clan territory, she said she'd be back though." It still worried her, before now, her daughter hadn't left the territory before, not alone anyway. While she didn't know for certain, she rather doubted that Tal had left with any other banthi's assured she'd have heard something about it if it had happened. Tal wasn't a battler, nor a speed demon, but she was smart, thats what helped her sleep at night.
Thinking about her two new cubs, she answered, "Yes, I had two little boys not too long ago, one is with his father and the other decided to play hide-and-go seek, he might even be trying to find his sister, she was great with him." Tal loved her little brothers a lot, to the point if Cristata looked away, looking back she'd know right where to find the missing cub, with Tal. However, this time, that wasn't the case.
Asking, never one to forget politeness, that and she was genuinely interested, she asked, "How have you been Al?"

Al's body clattered. "Left the clan territory? Why? It's dangerous out there alone!" He said, distraught. "Why didn't she tell me? I would have gone with her. What if she gets hurt?" The male's head spun with worry, the worry he felt whenever his older brother got in trouble, or was off causing mischief. He had a feeling that she left because of him, it was always his fault when she did what he considered silly things. Like reading books and sheltering herself away to try and find a solution to his problem.

Cristata was sympathic, he was talking of her own worries, but she knew getting all upset about it didn't help the problem. Calmly, she started, "Yes, it is dangerous to leave alone, especially for a nonbattler," If she had gone off on her own, it wouldn't be a big deal, she was a tough fighter for the clan and could stand up against anything, but was wise enough to know facing a bear for no reason wasn't a good idea.
Giving what words of comfort she could, she told him, "I don't know why she left, she was in the library one moment, and the next thing I know, her voice is cutting through my dreams saying goodbye and that she would be back. As much as its dangerous out there, Tal is smart and crafty, she'll know to stay away from fights and predators because she can't take them." Why she didn't ask for Al, well that was a mystery because her only daughter was deeply in love with metal banthi.
Looking to the fire a moment, she thought of her daughter. As a cub she did that to run away, as much an angst creature as she was. However, Tal wasn't a cub, and besides fights with her sister, there was nothing particularly bothering her that she knew. "Try not to worry too much, Al, though I know its near impossible. Whatever reason she left is probably a very good one. She'll come back in one piece, you'll see." That was optimism talking; she could only hope her daughter would come back unharmed. If she didn't have a good reason, then the fur would fly, but she hardly thought her bull headed cub was that empty upstairs and foolish.

The metallic banthi sighed, the sound echoing through his hollow body. "It's my fault. I bet she found out something new to try and get my body back and went off to go look for it." He visibly shrank, his huge body clanking as he slumped. Alphonse thought that he should have never told her about alchemy or the philosopher's stone, or anything... he should have kept it to himself like his brother did. If you didn't know anything, you were safe.
"I should have never told her anything, then she wouldn't have had to worry." He finally admitted out loud.

Life could never be easy, the banthi thought. Hiding things wasn't good for a relationship, but she could see how it was affecting him because that what he thought she went to do. Honestly, she did too, Tal was always one to try and help, now she was gone and its likely that was what she was doing. Since Tal wasn't here to say her motives, there was no way to know for sure, "Try not to jump to conclusions, she did have a falling out with Jiang, who was a sister to her, and her other best friend Pira. She might have left because of that or had her own motives." What they could be otherwise, she didn't know and couldn't reach Tal to find out, she was just too far.
Tackling the other thing, to try and stop him from having guilt over this, "Keep in mind, Al, that hiding things and dishonesty does nothing for a relationship. It may be hard to see now because she is gone, but I still believe you did the right thing not hiding it. I find it harder to believe that she would leave to find something to help you without bring you along as well." It was possible, especially if she felt that she could do it alone, but what Cris was trying to do was create doubt that he was the reason she was gone. With soft eyes she told him, "She'll come back and then we can ask, if I don't ring her neck first." The threat wasn't one she'd go through, she was more likely to nuzzle her child to death, but she still felt angry that she had not only vanished but left those that loved her worried and feeling guilty.
For as smart as that coonfox was, she should have more sense than to do what she did.
