I'm curious as to who or what influenced everyone to start WoW. It takes time, effort, money... not to mention its ability to kill your flesh-life.
xD
My boyfriend got me into it. He was on it allll the time, and I got the trial, just to see if it was worth it. It was. Now I get to kill things and be with my love.
Best of both worlds.

PC Gamer wrote an Article on it when it was first released and i read the same article for about a month.
What finally swayed me to get it was the picture of a level 20-ish Human Rogue outside of Stormwind.
And then i rolled Horde lol.

I refused to play it for a few months when it first came out. My brother wanted me to stop playing the consoles all the time so he needed me to get on the PC more often. He gave me WoW for my birthday and paid for the first few months. I played with a bunch of people from school and from there I've been playing ever since.

I was playing Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst before this, & a lot of people were leaving it for WoW. So, I decided to get it off eBay for $40 (back in the day lol) & give it a shot. I was addicted from the moment I started reading the manual while it started the very slow, long installation process on my pathetic old computer. :3

I'd been playing FFXI, but I quit after they made my class unplayable. [I used to solo as a Beastmaster, but they pretty much made it impossible to continue doing so.]
I picked up WoW after that.

I had just my console games when, but my Sister and Brother-in-Law told me how much fun they were having and I decided to give it a try and I have been playing since. Only a couple hours a day due to RL responsiblities but I always make time for some WoW.

a long time friend became my roommate in my house. He play WoW and I finally broke down and decide to join. I hate to play alone. Now my wife and I play together smile

Hardcore Warcraft fan, pretty much frothing-at-the-mouth until I had a comp that could run it (had to upgrade & buy the stupid thing, plus the timecards) took me awhile to save up, so I actually started playing it 9 months it came out on someone else's computer (my bf's) until I had a comp good enough to play it at home, which was april last year.

ad for it in WC3 box when THAT first came out, but i missed the release date and got it a month or two late. sad

I started playing Runescape. (Yeah yeah, be quiet it was fun back then) Then I wanted something better. It was WoW or Star Wars online but someone said Star Wars was really bad, so yeah.

I wanted to impress this kid, so I bought it. And then a few months later I found out some kid in my Algebra class played, so I rolled a warrior and a druid on two different servers with him. Then my friends in band (lololo) started playing and I was determined to beat them to 60. I ended up beating them to 70, too. cool

I used to hate WoW because it looked so dumb. I thought it was a "you attack. they attack. you attack. they attack" kind of game.
My cousin played Guild Wars for abit, so i played that and our RL friend started playing WoW. Once he started and told me all about it, i had to admit.. it sounded cool. I then read up on the same PC mag someone else mentioned, and so i took the free trial he gave me and its all history after that.

cousin got me the game. I was mad at EQ2, and fell in love with WoW when he installed it on my computer so he could play while trapped at my house for the holidays.
