It had been a while since that fated day when she nearly lost her being for a second time. Wolves, they were starting to make her think that there was nothing out there but wolves aside from her own kind. Standing in the shade of a tall pine, Wica looked out over the white that sparkled and gleamed upon that cloudless day. Everywhere she could see patches of murky green and brown, she hoped that winter was breaking and it would warm up.
Still something nagged at the back of her mind, something that wasn't making her feel too comfortable. Something was missing, something big. Letting her tail twitch behind her, she looked out over the horizon toward the trees that she had fled from all those nights ago. Fleeting visions of that dusk still vibrant in her mind, the wolves, the blood and then there was Axel.
She didn't understand him, not completely, she wished she could. She also wished he wouldn't be so darned protective of something that might not have been worth it. Shaking her head, Wica turned her head toward the skies, her wings aching to fly, but she chose not to, it was warm out and she was actually enjoying it upon the ground.
"Wonder what Axel's up to." She pondered taking a couple steps from her shaded place. 'More then likely trying to forget about me, as he said before." At this she pouted, she wouldn't forget about him, not in a million years.

Axel had been wandering around for days hoping that he wouldn't see anybody he was familiar with. They would notice how disheveled he was and he didn't want them to ask prodding questions. His little bubble had already been prodded enough in his lifetime and it didn't seem like it would be able to last one more poke.
Gazing around at the melting snow, Axel knew that it was going to be spring soon. He was hoping that time would hurry up and pass so that he could forget Wica because he never intended to see her again. He didn't want to but he knew deep in some part of him that he actually did want to see her. He couldn't admit that he wanted to or else that could just mean a mental collapse for him.
Continuing to walk through the woods, Axel held his head up high but his eyes were obviously in another place.

Stretching her wings and letting them move pretty much on their own, Wica found herself fluttering, hovering a couple feet above the ground, oh what fun it was, though the fun was easily turned back to thoughts of the past. Placing her hooves back on the ground, her wings folding themselves to her sides. The warmth was glorious upon her back, after so much cold.
Walking away from the tree completely, she headed off back toward the trees she had fled, wondering of someone was still wandering about there. Her heart fluttering a but with excitement of what ever could happen, though a pang of dread shot through her mind of the dangers, but they weren't upon her mind.
"Those dangers are long gone." She assured herself as she kept going, "Besides, what better place to escape this heat wave, then in the trees." She giggled picking up her pace to a someone prancy trot, her tail held high, or as high as it would go...
She had her heart set on seeing what was to see now that the snow was vanishing. And also to see if someone had settled after their last meeting.

Axel wasn't sure if he believed in fate or destiny or not but he was starting to think that there really was something like that. Walking in the same region that he and Wica had met those wolves, Axel knew he was just asking for trouble. But there was just something that couldn't stop his hooves from going there. He didn't even think he could remember where the attack had happened but he was wrong. Gazing at the trees, he saw the blood on the ground and then turned away.
The stallion continued to walk and wondered where he was going now. There was nowhere he belonged so he didn't worry about wandering too far from anywhere.

She hadn't gotten far before Wica found herself airborne. Her multi colored wings lifting her thin, lithe frame from the ground and into the skies. Into the clouds where her family, or at least one side of her family chose to live most their days, upon their wings and light hearts. She couldn't help, but feel completely free when she warm thermals caressed her belly, lifting her ever higher, or the smooth currents that drive her faster. It was home to her, a place where she could just be, herself. Front hooves pulled in close to her chest and her hind hooves stretched out behind her, she made a lazy spiraling glide downwards before her wings propelled her upwards once more.
Much like a dancer of those that bound themselves to the grounds, Wica was almost as perfect a dancer within the skies. Looping and spinning, spiraling and twirling. At times she would lose motion and come to a halt, but again she would continue, letting her long locks flow behind like banners or ribbons, she was at peace with the skies. Swooping low and over the tree tops, Wica came to where she had fallen into the mouths, more or less, of the wolves. Her blood still littered the slowly melting snow. But there was something else there, a feeling that maybe that day was the closest she had gotten to him.
"Oh why can't he just accept the fact that maybe someone does want to care?" she questioned the air which never replied.
Swooping again, she brought her hooves to the ground, landing just about into the tracks of one so familiar. Shaking off the feelings of the flight, her wings folded most stubbornly to her sides as she looked around. Bad memories rested here, many it seemed, but there was always that one. Glancing at the ground and to the tracks in the snow, well, what was left of it, she looked around, someone had been there before, quite recently to...
"Hello?" She called, quite loudly. Her hooves started following the direction of the tracks. "Axel?" Her pace quickening a bit, hoping she was going the right direction...

Raising a brow, Axel heard a voice above him. ... Maybe he was going crazy now. This was getting bad... Axel hadn't walked very far when he heard his name being called by a familiar voice. What was going on today? God damnit! "Who is it?" He turned around and went back to where he had just left. His eyes went wide as Wica came into view. "What the ********, Wica?" Giving an exasperated sigh, Axel never really swore but this was getting ridiculous. Turning around, Axel didn't know what else to do but he definitely didn't want to look her in the eye right now. He couldn't lie to her...

"Some greeting..." She muttered as she slowed and stopped.
Her head turned to one side as she watched him, she noted that he still wasn't looking at her in the eye. She could have figured that, he hadn't looked her in the eye since the first time they met. Was he still doubting something? Was he still 'afraid' of getting attached to something? Many thoughts and questions swarmed, but one action ensued upon her as she suddenly lurched forward. Bringing the gap between them to an even smaller range, her head lowering a but before bringing itself under his. She had stopped leaving their hooves about a foot apart, but brought her head closer to him. Ears laying back gently, her eyes closed, he brushed her cheek against his throat, a simple gesture of care it could have been. She only hoped it would make her heart stop fluttering... It didn't.
"Some greeting after our last match up." She said barely pulling away just a little, watching him closely, she barely realized what she had actually done. "How have things been for you?"

This world was just crazy. Damn fate and destiny and whatever other powers were sending Wica up from his own personal hell. He looked away from her, absorbed in a little bug crawling up a tree. He didn't want to reply to her but he felt compelled. Everything was just... wrong.
"I guess so. Things have sucked but who cares. What about you?" Axel tried to be polite but it was getting more and more difficult. He felt like there was an explosion building up in him and he wasn't going to be able to control himself much longer. But this explosion wasn't his temper, it was something else now...

Ears pulling themselves to the top of her head, Wica shifted, drawing herself somewhat closer to Axel, as if there had been a rope drawn about her neck and something was pulling her closer. Wings shuffling at her side she brought herself to mere inches away from him. She had to look up just a bit as he stood a few inches taller then she did. Her liquid gold eyes catching sight his bright green ones, ones that didn't look at her, was she that repulsive now?
"My time away was alright, the wounds have healed, but the memory remains." She said turning her own head to the side, though keeping an eye upon him. "Fly with me?"
OK, that question was completely out of the blue as she hadn't even thought about asking it, but she itched to fly, but not along. She had somewhat noticed that something besides his bulk laid beneath his cloak, it had to be wings. She knew that Axel couldn't have been, 'fat' as he moved too nimbly for that, but she never dreamed that her tongue would ask a question that possibly no one wuold answer with a 'yes' or 'sure'.
"Er..." She had wanted to correct that error of a question, but her mind froze up and she could only hang her head. It didn't seem like her to freeze up in such a way she couldn't recover, was it that she cared too much to care what he said? it could very well have been...

Axel didn't move from where he stood but he could feel himself tense up as she moved closer to him. Where was his 'run-away' instinct when he needed it? Turning slightly, his eyes met her's but they quickly looked away. There was no need to make himself even more uncomfortable. "That's good." He meant that more then he made it seem. If she was still injured, he probably couldn't stand looking at her because it was just a reminder of how the incident was completely his fault.
"Fly?" Raising a brow, Axel wasn't exactly expecting that question. "I don't think so. I prefer to fly alone." That was the truth and he knew that he probably couldn't even take to the air right now even if he wanted to. He left his answer at that hoping that she wouldn't be too disappointed.

She had expected as much, lifting her head again, she fanned out her own wings, letting them sit high over her back. Keeping them there, Wica stepped pasted him and tuned to stand more or less at his side, her wings still standing over her back as if the bones had been glued with pine sap and she couldn't move them back into their at rest positions.
"You don't like me much do you?" she asked quite bluntly. "I've noticed you don't look at me as you had the first time we me. I could be just wrong, but you are always on edge, like I'm going to kick the crap out of you or something. What is wrong?" she asked turning her head toward him, her wings finally coming down, one resting upon her side as it normally would, th other placing itself upon his back, comfortingly.

Axel was taken aback by her straight forwardness. She seemed to change everytime he met her. "No, is it that obvious?" His voice was dripping with sarcasm and he wasn't sure why he was beginning to feel defensive. "You already know what's wrong. I don't want to be around you but for some reason, there's an outside force acting on the space between us."
The stallion gazed at her only slightly before looking away again. He was glad to see that she didn't look to sad when he rejected her... again. There was something very masochistic about their relationship. He definitely needed a break right now but it seemed like he wasn't going to be allowed to. "I'm still surprised that you're still talking to me. Any sane soquili would have walked away by now."

"Maybe I'm not as sane as you want me to be, as anyone wants me to be. Maybe I am just as insane as a mouse who thinks they can win a fight with a cat. I don't know, but all I do know is, is that something has drawn us together." She paused, watching him, letting what he had said sink in.
"Perhaps that reason, is because you long to be with someone who doesn't care if you have a soul or not. Yes I care about you, I worry about you when we split to take our own paths. Axel, I don't care who you were at one time, I don't care how many times you shove me away like a fly. I will keep coming back, because I care, because." She paused again, letting her mind try and collect itself before continuing.
"Because I come to find myself wishing that someday I could find myself at your side. As a friend and more, more then you seem to be wanting me to be. Yes, I have come to love you, and it seems something wants you to as well. You could have left me to the wolves, but you didn't." She shook her head drawing her wing away and stepped a little closer, meaning to lean against him as if she couldn't hold herself up any longer. "I find that my heart, though still young and fragile, wants to remain by yours through even the blackest of nights, and the most dangerous of times where escape is bleakest. Walk away from it, I don't care, I just don't see myself with anyone else." she shuddered, barely moving away from her spot.

Axel's expression didn't change while she was telling him all of this. He was concentrating on keeping control of himself which was getting more and more difficult by the moment. Shaking his head when she was finished, this was so tiresome... "I'm sorry but I think you've been mistaken. There's no way you would want to be with someone as unstable as me." Even though he was trying to convince her that he was wrong for her, on the inside, he was trying to make excuses for why he was completely wrong for her.
"There's no way this would work. You may say that now, but I'm sure, years later, you won't feel like that." And that was what he feared the most. Soquili changed... even he changed a lot and he didn't want to be there when she fell for someone else.

"How do you know that? Can you see the future?" She asked not quite looking at him as her eyes had closed. "I've heard from my parents, my grandparents that they wouldn't look at another the same way they would their mates. I don't see myself looking at another with more then just possible friendship." She shook her head shifting her hooves a little as one leg had started to fall asleep.
She let the silence linger as she just stood there, leaning against Axel, her eyes closed for a moment it would have appeared that she might have fallen asleep before her eyes opened and glanced up at the bright skies over head. Watching the birds flutter and glide by upon their own whims and wishes, she found herself longing to be with them to enjoy the sun until it was covered again.
"Does loving someone really sound worse then a pack of wolves at your heels?" she asked, a light laughter in her voice as if it was meant as a joke or something. "Or like a gentle rain?" Her eyes not moving from the skies. "I would have to say wolves are worse then letting someone love you, for who you are. Say what you may Axel, I could be following the wrong path and blind to what else could be around me, but all I see is you, even if I was mortally blind something would still guide me to you."
