Would you pay five cents for a bag?
  No. That's ridiculous!
No. I brought my own bag. =D
Maybe. Depends on how much I have to carry.
  Sure, it's only five cents!
  Yes.

Okay, so, my boyfriend and I went to the this new store. They had normally expensive shrimp on sale for super cheap. Anyway, we grab a couple things, get to the register, the guy just hands us our stuff. So my boyfriend asks if we can have a bag.

"Bag costs five cents, dude."

eek Whatthehellcanyourepeatthat?

I've never heard of having to pay for the freaking bag. xd It shocked me, but I guess it reduces littering or something from people who don't want bags.

So, your opinions on this?
Your very own 'wtf?' moment?

oh. i been hearing about this. plastic bags are "bad for the earth" so companies are hoping everyone uses reuseable bags. walmart is also thinking of charging for bags at checkout. overall, i think it's lame but at least if you collect enough plastic bags, you can wash and cut the bags into long strips and then knit it all together to then make your own reuseable bag.

Wow. I can see where it makes sense, but at the same time I'd be kinda ticked if I had to pay a bunch extra for bags. Especially when you go to a place like our walmart where they only stick like 5 things in a bag for some reason so instead of having 3 semi-full bags we end up with 12 nearly empty bags. Plus you know it won't stay 5 cents for long if it catches on, eventually they'll raise the price.

Alot of stores you can bring in your plastic bags to recycle now. We save them up in a cupboard over our stove and bing them in every couple weeks. We save the paper bags in another cupboard but those we use to collect the kitchen recycling then take out to the bin on the curb.

I guess it wouldn't be as bad if they charged the money like they do for cans where its a deposit you could actually get back. Then they'd have hobos picking up plastic bags along the streets to turn in for cash too.

I think they'll definitely succeed in getting less people to just throw their bags away. If this starts catching on, I'm just going to tell them to put the items back in the cart. Screw the bags.
