Rumor has it that the new Elphaba will be Shoshana Bean. I haven't heard anything official, though, and was wondering if anyone else had. Shoshana's great - I saw her in October, and she's awesome.

T-T but they did say that Jennifer is leaving next April!!

It's pretty darn offical that Shoshana is taking over and I am so mad. I really wanted Stephine J. Block to take it over in New York and Shoshana to take the tour, but of course the oppiste happens. *pouts* I only hope she doesn't have a very long contract, cus I heard (from a pretty good source) that the second Brooklyn closes, the producers want Eden back full time in the role. And Brooklyn is not doing to well from what I hear. That is a shame too.
The tour starts sometime early next year, not sure of a date, but I do know it starts in Canada and makes it's way to the states then. The girl playing Glinda is in Rent right now, Fiyero is one of the current understudies in New York, and Nessarose played Libby on "Sabrina the Teenage Witch." I think she might have been in Bare too from what I heard others say about her.

true, it IS darn official like WickedElphie said. i believe she's taking over January 2nd.
i don't think that she'll be there for that long...not to mention i'm not sure wicked's run is still an open one.

BentoMaker_Yung-I true, it IS darn official like WickedElphie said. i believe she's taking over January 2nd. i don't think that she'll be there for that long...not to mention i'm not sure wicked's run is still an open one. January 11th actually. Idina leaves on the 9th. I thought that if they got someone worth wild to replace Idina, it had a chance at running for quite some time longer, but with this casting announcements, it's not gonna be pretty. Unless they get someone amazing to replace Jennifer when she leaves or they get someone esle in Elphaba's part ASAP, I have no doubt it will be closed by this time next year.

Id love to see the tour *sniffs* The closest I'll be to broadway is chicago and thats STILL pretty far away wink (what i mean is i live in georgia and im goin to chicago for christmas) and itll be the 4th time in my life i've been "up north"

It's averaging about about 65% capacity a performance, which is not very good. Below 70% is the danger zone from what I've seen in the past. The main thing though is that money wise they are not doing well at ALL! Tickets cost but with all the rush seats being bought and the house being not filled, they are only making half of what they should be on every ticket sold. Brooklyn is only 9% more filled on average then Bombay Dreams and the tickets are averageing about the same price. Dracula is actually making more on their tickets. Both those shows are closing, so I'm thinking Brooklyn is not gonna be far behind them.
