Is based on a short story written by Stephen King.
I found it very interesting and I suggest you watch it if you haven't already done so.

The Movie can be found at this URL

you may hold a discussion here if you wish.

oh and just incase of any minor confusion the reason he got 1408=13
is because 1+4+0+8=13. It got me at first I feel stupid sweatdrop

I saw the movie with a former friend, and I thought it was great. I read the short story as well and for once someone made a movie that is as good as the literature it's based on. I absolutely love the part where he's arguing with the fridge, too. And I remember everyone that read the story complaining that somebody was going to get hurt when they thought he got out so easily in the middle of the movie. 3nodding

lol that part would have had me fooled except there was half of a movie left on the bar. I was thinking during the movie "I don't think I could ever get this kind of expirience from reading the short story"

I wasn't as crazy about 1408 as everyone else was. I saw the movie after reading the story, and while both were good, I didn't find anything to rave about, honestly.

I first read 1408 in a book of short stories and i felt the movie was a success. It left out some ideas that were in the book but it did make up for it in the end.

I enjoyed it ^_^ But then, John Cusack is one of my favorite Actors. :3 Still, it was interesting, I never like when movies based on books are given a Hollywood feel (The ending), but all in all I wouldn't say it was bad at all. I saw it with my best friend, but he doesn't read SK, so I wound up talking about the differences between the story and movie while he kinda listened instead of having a discussion about it ^_^;

Tell you what tho', I was worried they weren't gonna have it, then at the end... "SIX! THIS IS SIX!!" Hehe...I loved that...

I would also like to point out, the story itself is the only written tale to EVER scare the wits out of me...Especially EVERY TIME I READ IT. @_@ I can't sleep after I do...And I always read it at night...Alone...In my room...Scared to get out of bed for fear my bare feet will touch soft flesh instead of tile...That the posters will change...That my cordless will ring... ::Shudder::

Well, my dad and I ordered it on demand. We both thought it was good but we were both very confused by it. I still am. I paid close attention and still got lost. I mean, you could never tell whether he was still in the room or not and it would trip up and there were things that couldn't be explained. I don't know, maybe it's because I haven't read the actual story yet, I should do that.

Ya, I think reading the story makes it a bit easier to understand.

If it helps, until the end he is always in the room. lol

didn't see the movie, but i hear it was rather different from the story, which i loved. he does an excellent job of capturing the disorientation and sheer strangeness that occurs.

Well, I figured that much out by the time I got to the end but it was still a bit confusing. My mom has read practically everything done by Stephen King and even she was weirded out by it. She saw it in the theaters.

Can somebody tell me which book it's in?

Haha.I was afraid they we're going to leave that out as well.I thought that was the scariest part of the story.Personally,I thought they did the best they could with the movie. It wasn't everything I expected, but it wasn't that bad.

And to answer the question in the previous post,it's in Stephen King's book of short stories Everything's Eventual/1408.

Thanks! I'll be sure to look for that so I can read the actual story. I'm hoping that it will make more sense to me then.

I read the story, then saw the movie...
John Cusack as the 'i don't give a ****' character was AWESOME!

But know I can't go to bed w/out covering my heater vents up, I keep thinkin of the body of the sewing machine maker chasing John Cusack's character around...
