wassup LG? been feeling this way for a while, but just recently had it pop back into my mind, so i decided to see what ya'll think about it.
what are your thoughts on people doing jail/prison time?
there's popular belief that if you get locked up, you're hard. people get incarcerated, then brag about it when they get released. getting locked up is USUALLY proof that you're the type of person who will do something more illegal than the average person, thus making you "hard" depending on the crime.
i've always had issues with this though... to me, getting locked up USUALLY means that you weren't smart enough to come of with a good enough plan to not get caught. there are plenty criminals on the streets, and many of which have not been locked up. but does that mean that they're soft when compared to someone who is doing 10 years for armed robbery? i feel like bragging about having gotten locked up is basically going:
"Yeah, my nig! A dude I've never seen before started asking me if I'd sell him some kush, but wanted to get in my car to make the deal first. Since I love to talk to COMPLETE strangers about my illegal drug trafficking, I decided to let him in so I can make the sale. Turns out he was a narc! What are the odds of that!?"
seriously... i don't believe getting locked up is something to brag about. sometimes you have to do certain things to make money to take care of yourself and loved ones. sometimes you have to put in work. i know this. but to brag about being such a ******** up place like prison because of it? that's crazy to me. when you're in prison, you aren't making any money. you aren't taking care of your kids. you aren't driving that sick a** whip. you're simply showering with other cats, trying to eat your cornbread before someone takes it, trying to make sure everybody else knows that you aint trying to play "hide the hotdog in the buns," and whatever else comes with being locked up.
so with that said... is it really a good thing to seeing being locked up as bragging rights?

it dosnt help anything you take a criminal and lock him away, and he comes out a revenge seeking monster. it takes crime off the street for the moment, but in the long run, just creates more!

lil puppet x3 it dosnt help anything you take a criminal and lock him away, and he comes out a revenge seeking monster. it takes crime off the street for the moment, but in the long run, just creates more! It does help them to reform, sometimes. Leaving them would create more than that.

Angelo Jones It helps if your in a gang! It's possible to expand your connections by meeting certain people while locked up, but what are the other reasons that being locked up can benefit you after being released?
