What do youuuuu think? I think that if we're going to put a fence up, 700 feet isn't effective enough to cover the 2,000 foot border. Illegal immigrants will just stay here longer. I'm glad that Obama supports border control, but more does need to be done.

I believe in open borders, so there really won't be a politician that shares my views.

I too am for open borders. I think a border fence is a horrible idea, especially a border fence that leaves the majority of the area open, that's bad and a waste of money.

People concentrate on boundaries too much. ): It focuses them on "their own people" and devalues the lives of others methinks. Boo ethnocentrism.

LOL.

The main problem I see with the border fence is wildlife interruption. Marking a line from one coast to another will interrupt a lot of migration paths for animals. Despite this, I do think something needs to be done.

I would support open borders if only more people coming into the country supported getting their citizenship.

Border fences are silly. It's like when a five year old builds a Lego fort and won't let anyone else play in the fort with them. But I don't approve of illegal immigration or amnesty, so I guess extreme - albeit childish - things need to be done.

You forget that we j00s already have one world government. Jews > TPO.

On the topic of fences and borders: Open the damned borders. Make it easy to get citizenship. Problem solved.

Fences are sooo 20th century. We have enough electronic assets to be able to monitor human and vehicular traffic on the grid. Did I mention that South Korea is testing autonomous kill bots?

Agreed. Mexico is acting childish via the droves of people crossing the border illegally. Childishly, we must respond by preventing it.

I honestly think that freely opening the border would be disastrous for the country. We have enough problems with unemployment, overdevelopment, health care shortage, etc. etc. without saying "HEY COME IN THE BORDERS ARE OPEN!" Eventually we'll just rename the U.S. "North Mexico" and then everyone will be heading up to Canada.

Edit: Citizenship is a good way to curb this as long as the immigrants are paying taxes and supporting the country in return for the services they receive and the space they take up. Learning English wouldn't hurt either.

I support allowing more people in but no having completely open borders. Havign a fence up is impractical because of the border towns created by NAFTA.

It's just not feasible to drive a fence between twin cities.

Yeah, that's just one of the fundamental issues with it. razz Hence part of why its such a messy issue.

Well you know me. I'm the one with the sensible and pragmatic solutions.

We allow more people into the US legally and cut down dramatically on waiting times. We focus more energy on the people who do not want to come to the US legally no matter how easily they can do it. Drug dealers, human trafficers, and other criminals.

Then you can speed up assimilation by making a more comprehensive educational effort towards the children and the adults.

You need to make it bilingua and you can't stigmatize like so many peop,le have been doing.

There's nothing wrong with ballots in another language nor forms that aren't in English.

The real problem with language is that people have been used to speaking English in America for centuries-- its seen as an offensive threat when a large number of people aren't speaking English and are frustrated that the people who have been here for generations don't speak their language come in and impose.
