The reflection of the moon wavered and sparkled in the small pond, occasionally disrupted by a fish skimming the surface. A pair of dark eyes shone from the night, and the moonlight revealed a leopardess walking to the water to drink. Her dark coat blended well with her surroundings.
After taking a long drink, Jiona watched herself in the water. She admired her new treasures with a smile. Anything that made her more attractive was a plus.
Thoughts swam through her mind, not unlike the fish she watched swim through he water before her. It's scales glistened in the moonlight and the leopardess sighed. Everything was calm that night.
How boring.
Jiona flopped to the ground and began cleaning her paws, watching the occasional school of fish pass by and swim away quickly once they noticed her. With another sigh she dipped the tip of a paw into the cold water, watching as the fish swam quickly to investigate. She was preoccupied with her game, ignoring her surroundings completely.

Though Djakovo did have plenty of experience living out in the savannah where one might just encounter anything, he hadn't had much to do with others, apart from his sister. That he would suddenly have become a party boy in the absence of his sibling was completely implausible, and because of it, he was a tad rusty in the ways of meeting new acquaintances.
That meant it was hardly surprising that, for a moment, he had trouble making up his mind what the brown feline a little ways off was. In the dark, it was difficult for him to see the leopard spots, so it wasn't until he was almost right behind her that he realized she wasn't a lion.
He had known that it wasn't his sister from the start, but the dark always brought with it a sense of danger and mystery, so he clung on to the dim hope that it would be her. It was not. But now that he was so close, the politeness he had been born with just would not let him slip away without disturbing her. Most possibly, she already knew he was there.
But He had always been a quiet one, so rather than speaking out, he made his way carefully until he was next to her at the water's edge, and peered into the reflection of the moon as he tried to see what it was that had got her attention.

Jiona's ear swiveled around as she heard footsteps behind her. Her eyes followed and she blinked as she saw a shape moving towards her. A male lion... How interesting.
When he sat beside her without a word, she watched him with a sly smile. She admired his dark coat; something she had always loved about herself. She wasn't vain; she just liked her spots.
The leopardess waited for a few moments, wondering if the silent male would speak up. When he didn't she moved a little closer to him, turning her head so she was in front of him, face-to-face. "Hello there." She purred, smiling at him.

"Um," His amber eyes darted back from the water at the sound of her voice, and he realized she had moved closer. Well that seemed a little close. Politely, he scooted back a tad, wondering if she had done it accidentally. It definitely seemed like it, and in Djakovo's do-no-wrong mindset, it never quite occurred to him that there was anything behind it. And accident was an accident.
"Good evening to you," He added promptly, always one for impeccable manners, especially when it came to females. Even with the sister he had grown up with, he had never stopped being just as courteous, and it was doubtful he ever would stop being like that for anyone.

Jiona smiled as he backed off. He seemed shy, and he was certainly well-mannered. "It is a good evening, now." She said slyly, her tail curling 'round her feet as she watched him. She sat up straight, her necklace sparkling in the moonlight.
"What brings you out here all alone?" She asked, her dark eyes watching him intently. "Certainly your mate doesn't approve of you talking to random leopardess's in the middle of the night." She smiled, leaning forward towards him as she spoke.

He nodded a quick agreement and pulled his quick litle half smile. "Oh... don't have one," He said, wanting to clear up any confusion as quickly as possible. He certainly didn't want her to think he had run away from his mate. That would not be good. It was, to him, everything that was wrong with the lions in the world, ditching mates for no reason at all or for others.
As he tried to figure out what he could possibly do so that he didn't feel as uncomfortable knowing that she was watching him, but not completely sure because of the darkness that almost matched her eyes, he couldn't help but notice the necklace she wore that sparkled in the moonlight. Immediately he latched onto it.
"Beautiful necklace," He said quickly, hoping to shift some of the heat off of himself.

Jiona didn't hide her pleasure at hearing he had no mate, she smiled broadly. "Oh, really? How can a handsome fellow like you not have a love interest?" She asked, her eyes twinkling in the moonlight.
At his compliment her attention shifted and she looked down at the jewelry around her neck. "Oh, thank you. Just a little something I picked up on my travels." She looked back up at him, the playful smile never leaving her. It seemed to her that this lion wasn't used to comapny, especially someone hitting on him as obviously as she was. It was amusing to the leopardess, and she waited for his answer as her tail beat the ground rythmatically beside her.

"You're welcome," He said, wondering if he should answer her question about his lack of a love interest. It would be polite, but on the other hand they had already moved on to the topic of her necklace, he reasoned. So perhaps he could answer it if she insisted on circling back to him.
The truth was, though Djakovo had travelled with his sister all his life, he was quite unused to the company of anybody else. If she were here, she would know exactly what to say to this leopardess and he would, like always, just sit off to the side and smile politely as he listened to the exchanged banter. Except she wasn't here right now, and Djakovo couldn't take a hint even if it smacked him in the face, so he had litle choice but to act polite as best as he could and try to figure out what the leopardess was trying to get at.

Jiona seemed to be waiting for him to continue after he spoke, and when he didn't say anything more she raised a brow. She smiled slightly, wondering if he was intentionally avoiding her question.
The leopardess decided to leave that topic and give him a break. He seemed very kind, but quite naive in the flirting game. "Oh my, it seems my manners have escaped me. I am Jiona, and it's a pleasure to meet you." She bowed her head slightly, her dark eyes never leaving him.

((So sorry for the slow reply Dx))
"Djakovo," He said quickly, adding his name to the introductions. It was so strange for him to be socializing, talking, even. He remembered the days when he and his sister had wandered along, and she had always realized that what had happened the night their parents died had changed her brother forever. She had never demanded conversation, and in fact they seemed far more at ease just being in each other's company without so much as saying a word. He didn't blame anyone else he met for their wish to talk, but he had realized long ago that no matter how far they poked and prodded, they wouldn't get much out of him.
"Good to... meet you, too." He hoped those were the right words. He had never been good at these chance meetings, where pleasantries were exchanged and small talk was made. It involved talk and, frankly, he was not quite one for talking.

((No problem~! <3))
"Djakovo," She repeated his name, mostly to help herself remember it. She smiled at him, her eyes finally leaving him and looking up at the moon. She could tell he was uncomfortable under her gaze, and obviously wasn't one for conversation. It took her a little while to think of smething to say, to make him feel more comfortable. One thing she didn't want to do was scare away this gorgeous lion.
Keeping her eyes on the sky, she finally spoke, "Do you have any family?" She asked, hoping this would be a topic he could open up about. She didn't know why, but she wanted to help him break through his shell. Perhaps it was his good looks, perhaps his sweet nature, but Jiona actually wanted to help someone. And it scared her.

He had grown up in silence, so he seemed perfectly at home, even happy, to be in it once more. Though he conveyed so little emotion on his face, his eyes tended to give away some of those more on the surface. And much as he tried to supress it, every once in a while he would forget and it was easy enough to read what he was thinking in his body language.
He nodded then, to her question. "A sister," He said, wondering if he should add on the fact that his parents were dead. But since it involved more speech and a moment had already passed since he had answered, he decided to leave it until she asked, if she did. But mention of his sister had already made him relax ever so slightly, as if even just the thought of her was enough to calm him and make him realize that she would be back some day.

Jiona glanced at him out fo the corner of her eye, noting how he relaxed at the mention of his sibling. She smiled slightly, not her usual sultry grin, but a soft, real smile. "A sister? That's wonderful. Are you two close?" She asked, turning to look at him once more.
Jiona had no siblings; she had been an only child. Her father used to tell her it was her fault her mother died, because she had died while giving birth. There was another baby, a boy, but he had died a few days after her mother. Jiona had run away when she was young, leaving her father to wallow in his depression. Of course, the leopardess wouldn't have told Djakovo this, but she couldn't help but think about it at the talk of family.

"Yea," He nodded, thinking of the days of their adolescent youth, roaming where they pleased as if nothing in the world could touch them. "Me 'nd her grew up together alone." He cast his eyes to glance at Jiona out of the corner of his amber eyes. Emotionless as he tried to keep them, it was easy enough to see how kind they were.
"Um," He wondered if he was supposed to ask her the same question back. It only seemed polite for him to do so, as opposed to simply answering whatever questions she asked him in the same short, gruff manner as he did all his speaking. The last thing he wanted was to seem cold and distant. Though in truth, perhaps he was, he didn't like to think that he had become something like that. He acknowledged the walls he had erected around himself, and act of self preservation, but did refused to admit that perhaps those walls had kept him from the rest of the world for too long.
"What... What about you?"

Jiona saw the kindness in his eyes, but she was not surprised by it. She had sen it when she first met him. Perhaps that was the thing that drew the leopardess to him.
Pushing the thought away as he continued to speak, she smiled sadly. "Oh, that's good. It's nice to have someone." Her eyes glazed over then, as if she were reliving a memory. His next question shook her from her trance, though not completely. She glanced away from him, at the moon again as she answered.
"Oh, me? Well... " She had ever told anyone of her past, since no one had ever asked. "My mother died when I was very young. My father raised me until I set out on my own." She knew it was misleading and masking, but it wasn't a lie either.
