Having left Bem to sleep in his Families den he had stepped out to do some hunting. Horatio was used to hunting alone, though he long remembered days when he would hunt as a small pack, his mother and father and only brother, out taking down what ever creature they came accross and eating well.

That time had passed many moons ago though and the lone wild dog had travelled for and wide hunting alone. Unfortunately this meant that his kills were much smaller but at least he could kill. This particular hunt was a gift, He had spent many days with bem and he had proclaimed himself her protector in that time, even though she didn't need to be protected. It was still nice to bring someone whom you were feeling close to a gift and a gift of food was always appreciated.

Little did Horatio know though that he would not be doing much hunting this day, for a pale lioness lay in his path. She was large, larger by far than your average lioness, her fur of softest lemon yellow, her eyes a pale lilac. The lioness seemed deep in thought as she lay along the hunting trail, her gaze turned to the skies, the grass brushing gently against her sides.

It was only when she heard the soft doggish foot fall that she turned her gaze fromt he clouds and rested them upon the wild dog.

In her time she had seen many creatures and she had certainly seen wild dogs before, though to see one alone, was confusing. "Have you lost your way?" She raised a brow, really it was none of her buisness but she liked to know others and she had no need to be a threat to the wild dog.

Perhaps it was because his mind was elsewere, thinking of Bem and the slowly stirring feelings in hsi chest, that he was nearly upon the large lioness before he realised that she was there. Blinking blindly the white male gave a nod and a smile. "I didn't mean to disturb you ma'am." He whispers his voice an ever so gentle murr, full of care and caress.

At her question he raised a brow. Lost? Why would she ask that? "No ma'am I am not lost I am out on a hunt, though perhaps I have come at the wrong time of day if a lioness is out and about on her own fwoiret?" He silened then waiting his tail wagging gently. The lioness seemed to not be worried about him standing there before her, she was relaxed and gently spoken, he felt un worried though he was still ready to run if she attacked. Caution was a lone dogs best friend.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so presumptuous." She chuckled lightly. "It's just I'v never seen a single wild dog out on a hunt before. Don't you guys usually hunt in packs?" She raised a slender brow her pale lips turned in a careing smile. She had no need to attack a wild dog, they had never done any harm to her and she was much bigger than him. If necessary she could attack him without doing any harm to herself.

"Oh, I'm not hunting sir, I'm just relaxing, thinking. Sometimes it's nice to get away and simply stare at the clouds away from everything else. You know what I mean?" She puurred softly her lilac eyed gaze on the large male dog. She could sence he was tence but thatw as natural, not all lions shared her views, some would attack first and ask questions later.

Horatio laughed and gave a nod relaxing slightly. "Yes, I know what you mean I am out simply hunting for a friend of mine.." He trailed slightly "It gives me time to think." He smiled breifly, he had much to think about, he really liked Bem and he knew he must tell her, perhaps if he braught her a large enough peice of meat he could speak to her of his feelings.

Foolish thought, he would tell her when he was ready. "Well then miss if you don't mind I should be going My ladies belly won't wait forever." He chuckles cheerily.

Gurami giggles a twinkle showing in those pale eyes. "Ah so it's a lady you hunt for?" She smiled lightly standing slowly her tail swaying happily. "Would you like some help? If you distract something I can bring it down. I'm sure your lady friend would appreciate a large peice of antilope hmm?" She smiled. She was all for helping the little guy.

Horatio blinked. He was rather surprised that the lioness would offer such a thing. The thought of could he trust her floated through his mind, but there was no point thinking like that. if she had so wished she could have forced him to help her hunt.

Giving a nod the pale wild dog smiled. "Your help would be much appreciated madam. My name, by the way, is Horatio, may I ask your name so I may speak more plainly to you in our little coalition?" He smiled his tail wagging. He could bring back enough food to stuff both his own and Bems belly if they braught down an antilope.

Gurami gave a nod and a purr slipping off through the long grass "My name is Gurami, Hoiratio, what a wonderful name." She laughed happily, the name sparked something in her, it was such a nice word.

She knew there was a herd of antilope near by so she slipped silently through the lengthy grass only stopping when the grass slopped off to a small copse of trees where a herd of gemsbok stood grazing silently, she turned and waited for Horatio to join her.

The large pale dog slipped up silently beside her. He was sort of glad she liked his name, he liked it too. Laying down beside the large pale lioness he turned to her and awaited instructions, his golden eyes settling on the gemsbok. He could see there was one with a limp near the edges of the herd. That would be the target, but what did she wish him to do?

Gurami smiled and whispered quietly. "I will circle around and wait, once you see me in place, run out and bark and growl, it will chase the gemsbok in my direction." She gave a nod and slipped off through the long grass vanishing almost though the occasional shimmer of sparkling yellow fur would dance amongst the fronds.

It was a simple enough plan. The lioness was so silent in her movements too. It would be easy enough to do. A smile graced his maw as he waited for the signal.

He caught a glimpse of the lioness giving him a nod and he leapt from the grass barking and howling, he gave chase snapping at their heels, for even though he was no lion he certainly looked ferocious.

The Gemsbok fled straight in to the path of the lioness.

The Gemsbok came straight towards her and she smiled. She would normally have picked off the weakest link but it was quicker simply to take the first one whom virtually walked in to her jaws. Her teeth were around the lead bucks nek before he knew what hit him. The herd scattered in all directions then and Gurami lay in the dust the gemsbok slowly kicking it's life away.

By the time Horatio drew up to the lioness panting and wagging his tail, the Gemsbok had died. He smiled at the lioness and moved to the large creature, bending down he tore at one of the flanks pulling away a par of the rear section and a whole leg. "Thankyou." He smiled and gave a nod. "I am in your debt Miss Gurami."

Gurami gave a gentle nod pausing as she cleaned her maw of the blood which had spattered there. "You are welcome Horatio, now return to your lady I'm sure she will appreciate your offering." The liones lay slowly then, she wasn't particularily hungry but she wasn't one to waste food. She would take the beast back to the pride.

Tilting his head in a bow the big male lifted the large leg of meat as high as he could and trotted off back the way he had come. This had been a very good meeting, he would have to tell Bem of the lioness whom had helped him procure their meal.
