I just read a fanfiction and I realized that the author's excuse of Deidara's survival and not appearing back at Akatsuki were correct:
If Deidara was still alive, why hadn't he come back to the Akatsuki?
Well, for one thing, we know he's very attached to Sasori. Now that Sasori is gone and everyone thinks he's dead, he doesn't have to return. He never wanted to join the Akatsuki anyways.
Secondly, he tried the suicidal bomb before, when Team Kakashi and Team Gai were rescuing Gaara. At least I think it was the suicidal one; he ate the clay, and focused all of his chakra in one area, where he then began exploding. We know for sure something big did explode: but how did he get away alive? Even though Kakashi used his Sharingan to remove him, we know there was an explosion because Neji, Rock Lee, Tenten, Sakura, Naruto, and everyone else were running away with the fire behind them as the background. So he bombed himself, but was somehow alive!
If he is alive, it would make sense, not just in my fangirly dreams. He could be hiding and staying low until the Akatsuki are rid of.

hmmmmm...Well, when he "blew himselft up" the first time, I think he said that was some kind of clone...I can't really remember...but if he didn't literaly turn himself into a bomb then that theory would might have worked.

~ Shanaikai Suki hm.. to that, i say this: the first bombing (when they were with the 9 or so konoha nins), he didn't blow himself up. it was merely his clone and he just used it to distract the konoha nins so he could make his escape. 2nd bombing.. was real, he was so into killing sasuke for killing orochimaru that he wasnt thinking. seriously, he could've just run away and continue his fight with sasuke another time.. that's just one thing about him. short tempered. mreh.. i find that as a thing i both hate and like about him. but it got him killed

That's the hardest part about watching Naruto fight scenes... you can't tell which is a clone and which isn't. I suppose you are right... but I'll still be hopeful!

Well, i agree to the theory that if DeiDei is still alive, he'd stay low because he never wanted to join the Akatsuki

~ Shanaikai Suki well no! he didnt commit suicide until he fought sasuke! (emo b*****d who KILL ITACHI! TT~TT) it was just a level 5 explosion. most of his other explosions r 2 or 3 but a lvl 5 explosion is about half of the deadliness of the big one. the big a** one is a lvl 8

first off, Sasuke makes me mad. second, if Deidara went off but survived he would have a hard time recovering from blowing up... cry emo
