"Oh Wait!" Wei turned around, hearing his name called. Damn...just as he was about to leave too. One of the girls came up to him, holding the box of poison fungus samples. He raised his eyebrow in question.
The girl fidgeted a bit but held out the item. "Uhm...could you deliver this one to Dr. Kenth? We...well...we don't know how to really handle poisonous things and well...Dr. Kenth's kinda scary ya know?" Wei sighed and took the package. Honestly, it's not like such a package wouldn't of been made without precaution. It did have 'DELICATE. HANDLE WITH CARE' in big red letters on the side. Though he himself didn't have any fear of Kenth and it was a good opportunity to speak with the man about this. It was his field of choice.
The brunette took the samples with a small smile before turning around and going to the doctors office.
He sighed, looking at Kenth's door. Well then, this'll be magical. He straightened his composure, reminiscent of the Wei that Kenth had first met, and knocked upon the door.

Kenth was in his office trying to fix the new pair of glasses he have gotten from the mall just a few days ago when he realized that he had left his old pair of glasses in Alex's dorm. Deciding that it wasn't in his best interest to return after what happened, he went down to the mall for the second time and ordered a pair of new glasses, which looked exactly the same as the old one.
But all new things required time to get used to, and Kenth decided that he shouldn't work on his papers before his head stopped getting dizzy (most likely due to the fact that a lot of chaotic things happened lately). A knock on the door was therefore, easily heard. Kenth stayed in his seat just for a while longer before clearing his throat and said:
"Come on in"
If it was Alex, he'd probably...well, he really didn't know what to do if it was Alex.

Wei rolled his eyes, he prayed the good doctor wasn't too wrapped up in whatever he was doing to have a late response, those types were annoying. He would know. He used to be one of those.
He opened the door and padded in softly. He raised his eyebrows in surprise to see him not actually doing something. Though instead focused and ...was that stress? Of course this position would cause stress but it wasn't a work related stress. Emotional stress? Of course his thoughts immediately flared back to Alex, had...something happened that he wasn't aware of? He must ask Rui about this. She was still family...as much as he didn't really show it. "Your package arrived."
The brunette set it carefully upon the other's desk, examining the whitenette a little more but saying nothing. It was...odd, seeing that in his mentor. He smirked, just a little, but it was good. "Are you worried that the first event in China might spread?"

Kenth blinked absent-mindedly. His package? It took the doctor a few seconds to recall what exactly it was that he had ordered, although Wei's next words reminded him.
"Ah." He replied. "Thank you." He eyed the boy. "Wei, is it, thank you very much."
Standing up, Kenth reached to grab the package, examining it in his hands. After making sure that there was no leak or damange to it, he moved to set the box up in one of the book shelves with panels of glass. His caution storage was what he called it. Later, Kenth will have to find the chance to go down to the lab and do more research on it, but for now...
"If by event you mean the disease, no. We have already found the cure. If by event you mean what happened to the people..." Kenth frowned a little, "it is beyond my control."
He looked over at Wei. "Unless you believe that there's any science in what happened during the last trip to China---you were there didn't you?"

Wei watched the man with interest. He could picture himself doing the same thing one day. Not exactly here in Shinkami but...one day. Thus why Kenth was such an important figure in his life right now. He blinked, focusing on the question.
He was there and he did remember. He remembered seeing both Alex and Kenth fallen and in need of care. He shook the image from his mind. "Unfortunately I was there. But...science doesn't exist in that place. It's all magic." Grey eyes became half lidded as he recalled the feelings of that place. He wasn't one who was 'in tune' with nature, but that place did have an effect of him. "That place...cannot be defined by tests, theorems, or science in general. It's on a whole different plane."
Wei pulled himself out of his thoughts, he didn't like thinking of that place. It always lead to thoughts of his Father. He snorted. "If something were to happen there again, would you go?"

Kenth nodded. "Exactly, which is why I think it is out of my control. I am no expert on magic, after all."
Talking with a student seemed to have relieved some of the troubled thoughts on Kenth's mind, so he proceeded with a faint smile of approval at Wei.
"We thought it was something about science, but it wasn't, that was why we weren't prepared when terrible things happened on that land." He turned back and looked around at all his paper works scattered about the room and on his desk, "I never knew magic existed, and even now I refuse to believe in them. If there were someways to explain the phenomenon...I'd find it, no matter what it takes."
Kenth gritted his teeth as he thought of the horror that had passed him when he was in the forest. Magic...no, the strange influence had brought up something he didn't even know about. It was a challenge in which he felt an obligation to defeat.
Kenth snapped his head up and stared at Wei when the boy asked the question. He paused and thought for a while, and shook his head. "If it was my responsibility, then I will, otherwise the place has nothing that I'm interested in right now."

The brunette crossed his arms. "Lucky." He was still connected to that place. Even if no other problems were to arise, he'd end up going back there anyway. Pay tribute to his father at the very least. And even if something was to happen, something that didn't involve Dr. Kenth, he still held some responsibility because of his Father's connection. His father's responsibilities became his when he died, including that place. It was...a burden he supposed. Traditions...bah.
"Then why the samples? I would assume that because of that whole fiasco you would have them." He was curious and...if Kenth ever needed an assistant Wei would be the first to volunteer.

Kenth was tempted to say "excuse me?" when the boy said lucky. He held off, however, considering that he was perhaps lucky to survive in that country and...so did everyone else. Kenth thought of the incident no more, at least, he tried not to. The only thing that was left over from the event was a certain dark skinned woman who still gave him plenty of mental troubles, but nothing life-threatening.
"To do research on them." Kenth replied automatically without looking at Wei at first, then looked up at him with eyes of a wise man. "Every organism on earth have their uses, not to mention this type of fungus is unique and new to the field of science. Sure, the thing can kill us, but if I can decipher it in the right way, its harm may be turned into good use."
Kenth looked over Wei's shoulder at the box just delivered, "but for now, no one should come close to it without taking extreme caution. We have learned plenty of lessons back in China."
Kenth fell silent and looked at Wei expectantly. He didn't know what to expect, however. Wei was one of the few student that he was fond of, due to the fact that he had helped out a great deal when he was back in China. The youth was full of energy and intelligence, and Kenth would have no doubt that the boy would succeed. But there was also fear within Kenth, a fear that the boy was..too smart for his own good. It made the doctor feel insecure inside, not because of the possibility that Wei may someday surpass himself, but rather something else...something Kenth could not pinpoint, and it frustrated the young doctor.

Wei looked at the box he delivered in surprise. Were they those types? He hadn't known. All they had said was 'poison fungus'. Of course they could be! How didn't he think about that before? He was getting slow.
"Isn't that the purpose for people like us? You tell us the bad and we'll bend it to our liking so that it's only good? Unfortunately there is the Law of Entropy. This field never lets you rest, not until you kick the bucket that is." That was a slightly bitter tone in his voice, mostly from the memories of his father.
He turned towards the window. "I have this feeling Kenth. China still has more lessons to teach us."

Kenth raised an eyebrow, amused by how much the boy knew at his age. But then again, he probably had knew more considering studying was all he did. He shook his head and sighed. "You can believe in whatever you choose to believe in." Kenth was silent again, listening to the boy's words. China was some place he'd wished he had never been to, but it was different for Wei. For Wei, that was where he'd come from.
"For you, perhaps. What would China teach me?" Kenth asked quietly, but taking full interest of how the boy would answer.

Wei smirked, loosening up more around the elder. What could China teach Kenth that it couldn't teach Wei? Many things. Simple. Subtle things. Things he would of never noticed because he lived in that society. What could Kenth learn, as he is now, that it couldn't teach Wei. His face grew serious not daring to make contact. "Family."
He remembered, from the first time he had met Kenth, that he had some sort of break down. He remembered mentioning the brother, Professor Greg Larine. And he could sense the...he didn't know what to call it. Even he, who was adopted and somewhat outcasted from his family (besides his foster parent), could sense a bond. Between them...it. It wasn't complete. It wasn't right. They weren't blood but he cared for them. He wasn't sure if Kenth understood that part.

So there it was.
Kenth was relieved to find out what he felt so insecure about when Wei replied. It did not necessarily make him feel better. Instead he winced visibly at the word; his expression grew old and stern. For his intelligence the boy could easily see what Kenth did not like, and for his bold personality Wei intruded Kenth's discomfort regardless.
Kenth shook his head and tried to keep his expression neutral. He'd be formal with Wei, as the boy was one of the students.
"You are saying that I don't understand family?"

There, he heard it. For a moment Kenth was slightly more relaxed with him, but now he was back to being formal. He had crossed that line with just one word. "I'm not saying you don't understand the concepts of a family. But your being doesn't know what a family really is." He turned to the doctor, expressionless. Cold heart to cold heart. "Now why the sudden change to formalities Kenth? Only moments before we were chatting, we were relaxed. You asked a question, I gave you an answer. China couldn't teach you anything, but you'd still learn It's culture. And it's culture revolves around family."

"I had a family, how can I not understand?" Kenth let out a snort, and his word was full of sarcasm. "And it's Dr. Kenth. Chatting or not, you are still a student, and I'm still a faculty, and thus the formality." He turned to Wei, looking but not staring at him in the eyes this time. "And I wouldn't call what we talked about chatting. It's called having an intelligent conversation. And intelligent conversations should have nothing to do with each other's private lives."
He sat back down, and let out a heavy sigh. Arguing with a student was not what he had intended. Wei was smart, but he was still a boy. Kenth immediately changed gears and focused on Wei's other comment.
"You do bring up a good point, Wei. Under normal circumstances I'd like to learn more about China and...every other country as well. Unfortunately China is now a dangerous place, and I would not risk my life there if I can help it."

Wei snorted. Oh the things he could say. But he wasn't one to step too far into his personal business, even if he wasn't really intending it to become personal. As if Kenth could really talk about family issues with him. At least he knew his blood kin, he didn't. Wei bit the inner part of his lip, now wasn't the time to actually think about his life. He sighed, crossing his arms. "You're the one who made it personal."
He rolled his eyes, running a hand through his hair. "Is that place the only thing you think about when it comes to China? China isn't just one big killer forest." He took offense to the way Kenth talked about his homeland. As much as he disliked the people he had to grow up with he still had a sense of national pride.
